Right just transfered the £100 I had in my car saving account into my current account for later and as I am paying £200 I will still have £50 in my account and pay day in on the 20th so I will be nicely in credit for next month and I will be able to put some more money back into my car account to save for my MOT!!

  • well def benifit from having a full service history when you come to sell it. Im surprised nothing was mentioned about work needing done/due because of the age (Cam belt)

Might be worth asking the question if anything is getting worn or due to be changed due to age each time you have it serviced from now on?

I will do. Luckily OH is very good with car's so I will get him to come with me when it's due it's MOT or Service (or at least get a must ask list from him!) But he wants me to take it to the garage he uses as he knows them and trusts them.

At least it wont need doing again for a while, and hopefully by then I will be able to afford my second car!

    Hi Guys
I picked up my car last night and everything is fine :D Runs like a little dream. But I was thinking about the money thing and I'm wondering if this is a good idea. I currently pay £50 a month into a car savings account, I don't think that this is enough (after the last few days) so I'm thinking of making this £100 a month. Can you look at my SOA's and make sure it works.
    Current SOA
    Income Avg: £1,100.17
    Outgoings:
    Rent - £207.50
    Contact Lens - £10.00
    RAC - £9.90
    Car Insurance - £32.38
    Petrol - £120.00
    Phone - £25.00
    Loan - £290.22
    Living allowance - £120.00
    Birthdays/Xmas - £20 (Paid into Savings)
Car - £50 (Paid into Savings. MOT March, Service July)
    Internet - £12.49
    Laptop min payment - £15.17
    Total - £912.66

    Leaving – £187.51
    Debts:
Lloyds TBS loan - £13,059.90 (APR 12.9%) (this figure includes the interest and insurance I will actually pay back, loan was for £9,000)
    A and L OD - £428.06 (APR 0%, £450 limit)
    Laptop - £433.82

    Total - £13,921.78

If I change the car payment to £100 a month:
    Current SOA
    Income Avg: £1,100.17
    Outgoings:
    Rent - £207.50
    Contact Lens - £10.00
    RAC - £9.90
    Car Insurance - £32.38
    Petrol - £120.00
    Phone - £25.00
    Loan - £290.22
    Living allowance - £120.00
    Birthdays/Xmas - £20 (Paid into Savings)
Car - £100 (Paid into Savings. MOT March, Service July)
    Internet - £12.49
    Laptop min payment - £15.17

    Total - £962.66
    Leaving – £137.51
I have been trying to split the remaining money between a payment on my OD and a £100 overpayment on my Laptop. I could still keep this up, but I would have to supliment my OD payment with more Amazon and Ebay money, but my car account would be healthier.
My Mum has also cancelled a trip to my cousins 21st which means I have a spare £45 in a savings account. Now do I pay this off my OD or do I put it into my car account?
    Thanks xx

Right I have filled in the online form to have my ex removed as a link on my credit file. I've had the email back saying they are looking into it, so hopefully I will get this sorted out soon.

I will then check the info on all the other credit report people and make sure he is removed from there as well.

I feel like that is another step in the right direction!

Right I have altered my car payment to £100 a month and moved the £45 into the car savings account. Which means that come my MOT at the end of March I will have £345 (at least) towards it.

I am also going to try and list some more items of Ebay and Amazon tonight and get some more income through there

  • Hi there

Just wanted to say it looks like you have your whole year planned and are doing really well :T

I also think you did the right thing about your car. Once you get a bit of money in there (like say £500) you can maybe stop saving into it for a while and put the extra towards debt. But this way at least you have a cushion should anything go wrong.

    Best of luck
