I used the same ones for my second account and had no problems,i suppose it makes life a bit easier if you have a lot of different accounts and sites where you need lots of different passwords!!0

great, thanks for the tip off0

They may want to bring in new monies, but at what price if they then lose the funds they already have through people like me getting fed up and going elsewhere.I still maintain it is madness to reduce rates on their ,by now, several internet accounts, close most of them then open yet another at a higher rate.As stated, some will transfer to this new account and others will move funds out.So what do they gain in the long run?I will not be going back in a hurry ,the Northern Rock is one of the few still not reduced their rates yet.
Unfortunately although not making "human common sense" the statistics/spreadsheets/previous data, probably show it does end up bringing in more new monies. I suppose you can blame it on computers having the shear number crunching ability to come up with the correct "non human common sense answer"
just accept it as an added "modern day" complication ...0 -
Opened my new account with no problems.0

Mine is now open too and appeared today, i've just transferred some money across but there is some money still not available from payments at the end of last week so I cant do it all now! How annoying.0

Did yours go straight across? Mine didn't. Tried Friday and earliest possible was for today and it's still being processed:mad:0

I think they've got quite a backlog to go through. I applied late on Friday for a new account, and it still hasn't yet appeared, though I did have the email this afternoon to confirm they'd received my application.
I do wish they'd let you store your username in the system somehow; having to remember SMI2XSMXK4 or what have you is a bit ridiculous every time I want to check my accounts!0 -

I thought it did, but i've checked again and must pay more attention in the future! It's not gone today and has tomorrows date on the transfer so I assume its going to be in there then...0 -
Right, I've set up my new account along side the old one. I can't seen any option to transfer funds in from the old account, am I missing something ?0

If you click on "Money Out" (under "Your Options" on the right) after Continue for your old account, in the drop down To which account would you like to transfer the money? you should find your new account number.
Quite why they don't let you do it the other way around (i.e. via "Money In") is another matter!0
