My understanding of Paul's post was that we could say send a cheque but really intend to fund via transfer from other account. Is that right, Paul?

Yes, well it worked last time ....
  • Do you need to send a cheque for that £1000 or what happens?

Can you transfer direct from e-saver to the new account?
Noobie (not so :D) trying to make loads a dosh - please bear with all my questions  Thanks :D

I've just opened the new account this morning and it's just appeared > have just closed and transferred money over from the old one - now will be waiting to see if rates are reduced next week if I'll have to go through all this again!!

Just done it too... Stupid question, but do I need to send in a cheque, or does my transfer from my old B&B account suffice for my inital deposit?

They introduce at least one new account every week. What a shambles!!!!

  • I set up a B & B 1yr Fixed Rate [ 6.80 ] online account, but found I could not transfer my money from my existing internet saver. I rang them and was told to log on THEN open a new account. This gives transfer facilities - crazy or what?
  • What do B&B gain by people switching accounts to keep up with the rate?

  • probably by not paying as much interest to people who do not switch (unfortunately)

one things banks are definitely not is stupid .. definitely a "marketing department" push after instructions from "above" to bring in much needed NEW monies

They may want to bring in new monies, but at what price if they then lose the funds they already have through people like me getting fed up and going elsewhere.I still maintain it is madness to reduce rates on their ,by now, several internet accounts, close most of them then open yet another at a higher rate.As stated, some will transfer to this new account and others will move funds out.So what do they gain in the long run?I will not be going back in a hurry ,the Northern Rock is one of the few still not reduced their rates yet.
  • Hi,

funny thing is that it was the Northern Rock carry on that caused a lot of folks to start moving money around. I was quite happy with NR, but must admit that I panicked, as I had all my money there. I now have NR, Sainsbury and B&B, so might as well open new B&B and transfer for the extra bit of interest.

When opening new account is it ok to use same password and security details, or should I think up new ones?

    Thanks.
