I slipped yesterday, £2-something on steak pie & chips from canteen. Kinda made up for that today by not actually having any lunch, though that's not really a recommended NSL route!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
Hi all
My cold rages on but at least I'm home today. I went to bed last night at 10.20 and reckon I slept immediately and that's been me until 8am this morning. Unheard of for me to sleep that long (whether I want to or not). I'm also sworn off the booze (4 weeks now) so what I've overspent on my lunches I've surely made up for not buying wine (she says clutching at straws)
Right, I digress TOO much. To the nonsense that's been my lunchtimes....
Monday - £1.50 - bagels with leftover chicken, diet Bru and crisps
Tuesday - £2.10 - bagels with leftover chicken, diet bru, crisps, Lockets
Wednesday - £4.20 - baguette, egg mayo salad, crisps, juice, paper, caramel shortbread
Thursday - £4 - bagel with cheese salad, plain bagel, crisps, juice, soup for boss
Thank God I'm off today, I can't afford it.
Well, am not quite as bad as my "old" lunch self but how easy it is to do. My purse is now £11.80 lighter. I need to get back on the horse.
Ah, Maz, don't tell me that!! I NEED them to keep selling it. Letter to Farmfoods please.........................Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
Hi all,
This is my first time getting involved with thredas but this one is close to my heart so i am asking if anyone has got any ideas for me.
The problem is my job, i am based from home and do field sales so every day i drive on 'patch' and go to the businesses i have appointments with. Patch can be over an hour away. Hence i have no microwave etc and i normally get food from supermarkets, mc donalds etc and nature of the job is meeting other reps for coffee etc. As you can imagine i spend a fortune on food during the week, especially if im leaving at 7 in the morning and dont leave patch till 6, i quite often have mc donalds breakfast and buy my lunch.
I am stuck as to what i can take to eat as well as if i do have time for breakfast i have wholemeal toast and dont want to have bread again for lunch.
We have one day a week in the office with no microwave kettle or nothing but a sandwhich guy coming round and an over priced sandwich shop and jacket potatoe van round the corner.
Also when im out on patch and im having a bad day and customers stand me up or i dont make a sale, i often cheer myself up with chocolate etc.
Any sugestions as this really is a major part of my spending and does get me down :mad:0 -
I am not in the challenge, but everyday I spend 50 on cold meat, 54p for bread and 56p on 2 sachets of instant soup. I don't count tea bags, but they would be pennies. So slightly over £1.50 then again on benefits, I have to.Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money but you can't get more time0

For weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks we've all been doing this with varying degrees of success, but doing it we did!
Now, the schools decide on a spring break and we've all fallen to pieces. I personally am in disgrace. Today saw me scoff M&S deli filler and walnut loaf (yes, the lot!). Yesterday I clutched at the lunch loggers challenge and had a totally rubbish lunch (but it was no spend) so today I made up for it.
Welcome to all new comers. I'm sure next week we'll all have dusted ourselves down and got back in the saddle, I sure hope I doGrocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
I have been trying to take my own lunch and have been doing pretty well. Have also got OH onto it as he was spending £4/day at least
OH takes left overs from dinner, which I freeze in portions, then defrost the night before, rotated, so he doesn't get bored.. Previously, they would be shoved in the fridge, then forgotton about, then chucked. Occasionally I cook a huge pan of chili and rice and top up his freezer stash.
I am a bit more awkward being veggie and trying to eat healthily, so need to be careful not to spend a fortune on healthy lunch ingredients and give up half way through the week and waste half...0 -
................... reckon we've all forgotten how to lunch log which is a shame.
If my last fortnight is anything to go by I've spent a storm in M&S and just about every expensive shop there is.
I plan to get back in the swing today with my bagels and cheese so here's hoping. Come on everyone, let's get back on the horse!!Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0
