Glad I found this thread - I have been taking my lunch to work recently, and found I have been eating more healthily, and am enjoying it much more than standing in a queue in the cold at the local sandwich shops! I have been taking in home-made soups - spiced parsnip and cauliflower with fennel - AND a proscutto/rocket salad with honey/mustard dressing! However, wanted something nice to take them in with (rather than tatty old tupperware I have had for years and an old bolognese sauce jar) so naughtily went onto ebay today and got a lovely Bento box and bag! So, spent the money I have saved, but hope to recoup it by keeping up with the lunch challenge!
Will keep a log from now on....
Good going everyone! Keep it up!

  • :hello: to the new posters. Hope you find this thread as useful as I do. It's not looking like it but I really do love this thread (though not yesterday, and not the day before, oh and not today) normally because it saves me an absolute bomb. Good luck to you.

Monday - £1.64 - sandwiches, soup, egg mayo & bagel
Tuesday - £0 - tuna sandwich, crisps from home
Wednesday 65p - egg bagels (10p woopsie from freezer) and a Crunchie (65p)
Thursday - £0 - sandwiches with chicken, Lilt (that tasted like cold Lemsip yuck)

So, one more day and I can add to my total. It's been touch and go this week. Hopefully I can get through it. £2.31 so far. Am away to count my weeks now in the hope of re-motivating myself (am a nightmare)

  • Hi Lunch Loggers!

I have been not too bad this week...

Monday - day off so £0
    Tuesday £2.50
Wednesday - Tuna and cous cous from home £0
Thursday - Cheese, ham and pickle toastie £0

Not looking too hopeful for a NSL tomorrow, fridge is pretty empty... I have some of that soup that you eat with a fork in the cupboard, might take one of them and see if i can resist the urge.

I dunno about you but i'm finding shop bought sandwiches really bland now, although my own are not exotic or anything!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

I was feeling sorry for myself this morning and announced I was going to get something from the sandwich van when it came round. One of my colleagues who knows I'm only eating lunch brought in from home said he wouldn't let me. I swore at him and a few minutes later he handed me £2 and said I wouldn't be failing my challenge as he was paying for it (I lent him my car last week).
So, bacon sarnie and a 'no spend on lunch' day! :j

What reward for trying to help you - I probably wouldn't have put up with that!

Seriously though, a lunch buddy at work is a great idea to help you stay on the challenge. A girl has just started in my office this week and has come in armed with a packed lunch every day, so I think I might ask if she's up for it!
