Trying to book afternoon tea here and spotted this:
Please note, we do not accept chase cards for deposits or payment on the day.
That seems very unusual to me.  Has anyone seen anything like this?  Anyone care to speculate why?

I know some places don't take Amex cards due to the fees I think. Perhaps chase have high charges. Have you emailed them to ask?

Chase are a Mastercard debit, I would imagine the retailer fees are fixed by the payment network - Mastercard. Surely they can't allow different card issuers to charge different fees?

There won't be a difference in cost.

I’d love to know the story behind that. I’m guessing it’s something to do with an electronic card.

Maybe had issues with Chase having different card details for physical and online ?
A long shot but can’t think of any other reason

Perhaps they've had issues with fraud involving Chase cards?

Maybe you should chase them up?

If the reason is historical fraud I can't imagine they will share the details. If Chase was more fraud prone than other cards I'd expect to see more merchants hesitant about accepting.  I have not heard of any other places.

I wondered about the virtual card number in the app (which is different from the invisible physical card number - see Returns and Collections) causing problems, but can't see why that would cause issues.  And it's not really that different from Apple and Google pay using different card details is it?

They do take Amex which will give me more cashback in any case!

Is it to do with American Chase credit cards? E.g., high fees or some other issue. That looks like a tourist spot.

The whole of Edinburgh is a tourist spot.

The Pubco that runs Dome have several other venues both in EDI and elsewhere. Checked a few websites and couldn't see a Chase ban elsewhere.

    Odd.
