Parc Asterix is on the tesco clubcard deals so might save even more money there Louise.

I was suggesting the payment holiday might be needed if OH lost his job BTW not if you fancied going back to Florida! I love having a holiday to look forward to too though.

I knew what you meant:A .......it is good to know that we have a safety net with the current deal with the overpayments, just in case.

Cheers for the heads up on the Tesco Club card deal Skinty.

Not much going on today apart from work, work and more work. Mondays are so long as I start work at 9am till 3pm then back over for evening classes 6pm til 9pm....................so tired.

Tomorrow I have 3 Mystery Shops to do which will get my Make £10 a day in November Challenge up and running.

I also MUST finish off some bookwork for someone as I was supposed to drop it off on Saturday.........whoops:o

On the grocery challenge, I found some fairy cakes in Asda, 12 for 58p I am sure it would be more expensive to make them myself so I am going to make some butter icing and turn them into butterfly cakes for packed lunches instead of the usual shop bought chocolate biscuit bars they usually have (2 sons and OH)

    Phew, really busy morning.

Completed 3 Mystery Shops (well 1 I didnt actually complete but the person I was supposed to be assessing wasnt there so I will still get paid:D )

Finished set of books for client........only 2 left now until I can officially close the business:T

Did a bit of Christmas shopping:lipsrseal

I had to buy some new bedding today as the bottom valance on the one we have is so threadbare that OH put his foot through it last night:rotfl:

Managed to pick up a nice set from Wilkinsons for less than £25 including cover, pillowcases and valance sheet. that will come out of my budget I have set aside for home repairs.

If the client gives me a cheque today then I will have made an extra £132.50 with the MShopping:beer:

Dover to Calais is about £70 return so well under the £1200 budget I reckon about £150 needed for fuel though and we might have to stay overnight at the port as its a 6 hour drive for us to Dover.........Need to run it past the rest of the family but I am getting excited already, I love having a holiday to look forward to.:D

    Hi LouiseJ,

Did you know that Eurotunnel is also on Tesco Clubcard deals?

If you went by Eurotunnel when you arrive at the French side there are several good hotels there which may work out better value than staying over in Dover, so you could aim to arrive in France for say 10pm get your heads down and then get going early the next day.

I've considered this option before but then end up booking in Western France and don't relish the journey, however, with you going to Paris it may work out well.

Also, have you tried LD Lines? I think that's the ferry company's name, anyway, they sail Portsmouth to LeHavre which isn't too bad for a Western France destination and, I've heard, they tend to work out cheaper than Brittany Ferries.

    Best wishes
    LM :)

I didnt know that Eurotunnel was on the Clubcard deals LM, thanks for that. I really wish Asda would join in with the clubcard deals as I dont shop at Tescos as the nearest one is 7miles away:mad:

I will have a look at that ferry company too:T

we've done ldlines ferry twice before with kids. 11pm sailing from portsmouth arrive in morning (got the normal cheap seats)-kids slept across the seats, 1 slept in buggy. Lots of people though had sleeping bags+pillow+slept on floor.

Sail back time is daytime, 4-5hours. Have survived it twice and then only had little drive to where we were staying!
Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞

Not sure if I am up to roughing it on the overnight ferry:o I would like a cabin if I was travelling overnight.

I will still have a look at their prices.

On a different note you may have noticed that I also have a red/green SW line in my sig as I am also trying to reduce my weight as well as my mortgage. I have 1 stone to loose and have joined a SW group locally.

After 1 week I have lost the grand total of ...................half a pound:rolleyes:

Ho Hum, I will try harder next week.

Well I got a cheque from the client for £57.50 and Quidco have paid £6.50 for this month (I am still waiting for a big one for £150 from an orange contract I took out in July)

Thats £139 extra in the pot so far this month.

I had an interesting conversation with a colleague today regarding houses to let in my area. She is in charge of finding students accommodation and there is a distinct lack of houses to let in the immediate area.

I am now thinking about the possibility of buying a second house to keep as a let property(with a buy to let mortgage) ................I think I need to do alot of homework.
