Hi Spendywendywoo. You can pay by giftcard online at Mr S. I can’t remember the exact process but you have to upload the giftcard number before you pay. I’ve done it fairly recently. Here’s a screenshot from their website:

    Hope this helps!
  • Thanks @cafelady, that’s super helpful, thank you :)

  • Eurgh...I appear to have had an allergy reaction and the only thing I can think it is, is washing powder that I bought on Tuesday morning (and have subsequently done 6 lots of washing since - as I was too lazy to pick some powder up over the weekend so the pile had built up). It's the same powder that I always use (B0ld) so not sure what's happened, assuming they have changed some of the ingredients in the product.

Not sure if to contact the company directly as I'm now going to have to buy alternative product.

Any suggestions on the best washing powder for sensitive skin (never thought I'd say those words as I'm not usually sensitive to anything other than penicillin! :(

F@iry is dermatologist tested. P£rsil non bio should be ok.

I often randomly have a reaction to something I use all the time.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

I'm allergic to Bold and Persil. Or at least I was as a teenager and I've not been brave enough to try again as an adult. It might have just been whatever was in them in the 90s though.
I've had milder reactions to a couple I've tried over the years (when I can't get my usual) and a lot of fabric softeners.
I only use aerial and I bulk buy so I don't run out. I don't know if it would be ok for you though as I have no idea what it is exactly I'm allergic too.
I use fairy fabric softener, but I used to be ok with Tesco sensitive too

  • Thank you. I was allergic to Persil and Ariel when I was a child but my mum switched to Bold and I’ve never looked back, until now :(

Thank you for responding, good to hear thoughts and experiences. I may try Fairy x

I use almost no laundry detergent. I don't like the pod things as they are in pre-determined enormous portions. I use a liquid gloop but it barely covers the bottom of the lid thing. That way I am a bit less itchy than normal. I am always itchy in winter. Too many mould spores in the atmosphere and I am allergic to moulds, fungus and of course, penicillin - maybe you are the same @Spendywendywoo

  • Quick washing powder update;

Well I contacted the company directly and was asked to fill in a health survey. My DH stated with the same symptoms on Thursday so possibly an issue with that batch of product. Now we’ve rehashed everything we are fine.

The company are going to send some vouchers out to cover the cost of the product, which I thought was nice of them, and I’ve purchased some Fairy Non Bio. Currently done 4 lots of rewashing and now washing our bedding. All is good again.

@Suffolk_lass I bought the pods and agree that they hold a lot of liquid. I just bought a small box to make sure there were no more issues. Now I know we’re ok, I’ll buy the powder so I can use it more sparingly.

  • So I had a quiet in last night and did some reflecting. I’ve had such a successful year financially as this site has been holding me accountable (without any pressure too, may I add lol).

I’d like to make some real changes to my health over the next 12 months, lose some weight and eat within guidelines for my chronic condition. I want to start looking after me and putting myself first, which I’ve never done.

Ive decided to look for a dietician. I know there will be a cost associated for a review and meal plan to be devised but once I have the information I’ll be able to forge ahead with eating right. I have access to gym equipment at home but I know that only accounts for some of the impact on health, its nutrition that is the main factor. I’m already looking forward to the next 12 months but I feel this will really boost my goals if I choose the right contact to help me. Has anyone had tree help of a dietician before? What was your experience?
