Gift Card Hub scam.

hello everyone.

Was wondering if anyone has dealt with giftcard-hub before. It’s a very clever scam site which recently caught my wife off guard and so I’m seeking advice if any can be given.

The general jist of their operation is that you pay say £0.20 less than is typical for a gift card / top up card and when at checkout with no prior mentioning, you agree to their T&Cs which actually include a £49 monthly recurring subscription entitling you to more gift cards at a discount of £0.20 or so.

trust pilot has thousands of false reviews of their sites and their sites appear high on google when searching things like vodaphone topup.

they use multiple alias online such as voucher hub, gift card-hub, top up hub etc

the business is registered out of the uk (Covent garden) and CEO seems to change between family members while business address is out of cypress on their website and CEOs are Pakistani nationality with current residence also out of pakistan which seems odd to me.

Our interaction after noticing there was a subscription that the wife was unaware of has been asking them to send us proof of receipt and proof of subscription which should of been sent via email yet we never received (wife never deletes emails and they are not in her junk, bin nor inbox) yet they provided the screen shots posted below which I believe they have fraudulently created as again, no emails were ever received. (Posted below).

It seems the purchase of a vodaphone top up is not genuine as it seems they have purchased it at full price and risk losing £0.20 in this instance on that people winter realise there is a hidden subscription (in the case of my wife) which charges £49 three days later then again every month.

There is no mention on the sales page from the Google link of a subscription fee just a “I have read and agree to the T&C which the wife did indeed sadly tick without reading such things

Anyone have any luck with these scam artists and any advice on obtaining a refund. I despised with my bank and though they did not refund the two payments of £49 they did refund the cost of the actual product which I thought was strange? Is it because it was a resell?

Any advice / further questions are welcome.

Would rather be a pain in the !!!!!! for these scammers rather than let them get away with it.

Bottom line is. They sell very slightly discounted mobile phone, top ups, steam cards, Apple Music, PlayStation etc by purchasing themselves and reselling slightly cheaper to coax people into an extortionate monthly subscription which offers no value unless you’re buying £250+ worth of top tops per month to break even.

Thanks for any constructive responses.

Ash.

Forgot to include link to reviews. You can see a clear discrepancy between 5 and 1* reviews with all the 1* being scammed individuals.

I'm afraid I'm not very clear what has happened here? Did your wife actually get the 20p off?

It's not even clear to me which company she entered into a contract with, is it the Cypriot company Liern Ltd registered in Nicosia reg no. HE418815, or the company in Covent Garden London reg no. 15566426?

One thing you do make clear is that the CEO is Pakistani. It would be useful if you could explain why that makes them either more or less likely to be a scammer or what other relevance it has.

    Hey bud,

first of all thank you for the response!

The wife did get 20p off but never received an email confirmation of purchase (receipt) nor confirmation of making a subscription. When I asked them for proof they provided the emails above yet these are not in her inbox, junk or bin. I believe they made them once she requested them and I believe them to be fraudulent.

They text her the code to use for the top up. Rather than emailed.

    the Covent Garden business.

In regards to nationality just showing the contrast that it’s registered in the U.K., with a cypress address with the CEOs current residence being in Pakistan. Which makes this feel even more illegitimate.

    Basically;

    Conflicting Addresses:

Website Address: The website lists a different address in Cyprus. This inconsistency suggests potential attempts to hide the true location of operations or to create a false sense of legitimacy by associating with the UK.

CEO Location: The CEO residing in Pakistan further adds to the complexity and raises concerns about oversight and accountability.

Potential for Fraud: This combination of factors increases the risk of fraudulent activities, such as:

    • Selling counterfeit or invalid gift cards:
    • Collecting payments without delivering the promised goods:
    • Engaging in other deceptive practices.

It’s clearly a site that uses T&Cs to create a subscription based service however the services rendered / offered for £49pm could never be beneficial when saving around £0.20p per purchase of £10 of r greater. It is a buy / resell of products to get people to unknowingly subscribe to an exorbitant monthly payment. The 1* reviews (that are plentiful) on trustpilot and other such sites showcase this.

    Hope this clarifies.

No offence to OP... But 🤦‍♀️

They could not be more up front & clearer about the £49 a month

Unlock endless entertainment and more! Become GiftCardHub’s member and indulge in a world of savings on your favorite brand for just £49 per month.

Slap bang middle of the page, not hidden anywhere.

Even on order page you have to choose billed £49 or £29 a month "Cancel Anytime"
Sadly links from Google that are dressed up like official product pages state nothing of the sort. View the trustpilot views I posted above and all 5star reviews are fake with people stating “great connectivity” etc while there are hundreds of people stating similar to what I have and more being posted by the hour.

It’s less about what happened and more a fact of the operation that is being run that is clearly scamming people. It’s clear by looking at their service of £49 a month so save mere pence on pre paid cards they are simply reselling after purchasing themselves.

I’m rather shocked no one is looking past what happened to my partner to see the shady operation at play.

Also the fact that I stated they falsified email documents as they were never sent to me, no receipt or proof of subscription was ever sent untill I asked them why I never received such documents they they sent me the documents I posted above which again, I never received as everyone else on trustpilot has said. No one received emails confirming their order / subscription.

    I get you are upset.

Not sure how much clearer it can be when you purchase a voucher, couple that with the front page of their site 🤷‍♀️

We are fortunate enough that £98 doesn’t affect us. But I see again you failed to see what I wrote. If you google things like vodaphone top up, you can click on this which is near top on results.

Quick payment method, and no subscription mention on this page which takes your card details.

Again. If it was just her I’d be in the mind frame of that was unfortunate, however hundreds of people are falling for this. Again if you’ve not look at the trust pilot reviews I’d encourage you to do so.

This is more a case of moral ethics as there is something clearly amis for so many people to fall foul to this. This is a sponsored link to the page that seems to be catching people off guard.

We get it, but those links don't take you to pages where it doesn't say what happens very clearly.

The banks won't see this as a scam (and its not) - its the same as these 'Get cashback links' at the end of check out on some (surprising) sites.

The user is clearly told the cost and the implication, presumably you are out the £49 as you have cancelled. The site isn't doing anything illegal here.

Answer. Do not click on sponsored links. Scroll down to actual site & go in via the front door which is 100% clear.

    But as per @Pollycat
People need to read what they are clicking to purchase.
Next page after the one you highlight, which is the purchase page where you agree to T/C

    It is clear in there..
What you are signing up to..

Not defending the company, but how much clearer does it need to be.🤷‍♀️
