Budget restored, I checked through my fridge, freezer and cupboards and came up with a small shopping list and meal plan for the week. I pottered off up the road to fetch the bits I needed and then spent some time in the garden with each of the dogs in turn.I’m still not 100% convinced that little dog has properly come into season yet but being her first season I haven’t got a benchmark for what is usual for her and while she is behaving a bit different and big dog is showing a particularly keen interest, I am taking no chances. Now though, the tiredness has really hit. I did some washing up ready to start cooking and I couldn’t even finish it, let alone cook the roast dinner. dd2 said she might give it a go if she’s up to it, but since it has already gone 5pm, I’m thinking it might just end up being pizza for dinner. As it is, I could just skip the lot and go to bed now. 😕End of

Rounding off the day with more good news from dd1… She went for an interview for a new job a couple of days ago and just received word that she has been offered the job! I am so pleased for her as it is more money (going from £6.40 to £11.44ph!), fewer hours, is much more local, shifts are 6-8hours rather than the ridiculous 12-13hours she has been doing. Just all round better suited given that she is doing her A levels alongside. It’s also something different to put on her CV. She’s been at her last place for over a year and has already worked her way around different roles so a good time to move on. 😁End of

Rudely awoken by the Trigeminal Neuralgia this morning. I swear it is just getting worse. 😞
Back at work this morning too. With my face in this much pain I might have usually even considered calling in sick, but I had an appointment with occupational health first thing and I sure as hell wasn’t missing that! So far they have been nothing but supportive and offering adjustments to help me, but I am always very aware that they are part of the HR function which could screw you out of a job should they decide to. I am always honest, but let’s not give them ammunition hey?! Now it is over I am going to take a bit more medication and if that means I have to take a nap too, then so be it. I only have a few meetings today so I will work the hours but not necessarily when everyone else does. One thing that did cheer me up immensely this morning was the ability to check my bank balances, log the changes and, ta-da, it all still reconciles! Such a relief. It was really stressing me out not knowing where I was. I don’t know how people go through life just spending money and having no clue of the impact. Even in my spendy days I knew I was overspending. I find it way more stressful to not know if I am overspending. Back on track now though. 👍
I do need to get back to doing surveys though. I’ve been completing YouGov ones on a regular basis but just never seem to have Prolific ones available. I need to check more often and get on the laptop where I can to complete those only available through that kind of device as Prolific is definitely the best payer. In the meantime I will just have to celebrate the unexpected £2.75 refund I have just received from Virgin Media. Money coming in is always nice. 😁End ofDec-24 May-25 Brother £ 5,400.00 £ 5,200.00 Overdraft owed £ 1,349.90 £ - MBNA CC £ 10,534.20 £ 12,056.18 Barclaycard CC £ 9,667.21 £ 8,138.15 Fluid CC £ - £ 732.50 NatWest CC £ 12,018.14 £ 11,774.23 Total debt £ 38,969.45 £ 37,901.06

Sorry to hear you're in pain. I hope the meds have kicked in and you got some rest if you needed it. How did your OH appointment go?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I cannot imagine having to go back to getting a monthly statement in the post & hoping that you hadn't messed up & missed something & got those overdraft charges stuck on there to mess up yet another month. Thank goodness that never happened to me but I am a little anal. I do find it easy to see how people landed in a mess just for forgetting one single thing though. I cannot imagine going back to no online access.1

The lady I see is really nice and even offered to get me a canopy for my desk to shield me from the air conditioning. I thought she was joking but apparently not! 🤣 In the meantime she is going to write her report which basically just says, yes, I continue to have TN (which is obvious since I’ve had it for 13yrs and it is a chronic condition), and her best advice is let me work from home as much as possible and let me flex my hours whenever I need. I couldn’t ask for better support tbh. I know I am super lucky which is why I will never leave my current employer!End of

Your OH lady sounds great, and clued up. I wonder if they could either move your desk or turn the air con off? WFH would obviously benefit you so I hope that can be arranged.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
