Thankfully I already wfh pretty much whenever I want to as that has been informally agreed with my managers for years. This just means it will be in a written agreement. 😁

Great news today - I finally received my £175 bonus for joining First Direct! 🎉
This just seems like so much money for just switching banks on an account I genuinely couldn’t care less about. Ah! Congrats on the extra £35 @Take_a_hike_Elon_and_Jeff ! I never thought of switching banks through Top Cashback - I will check that next time I switch!I opened the account on 23rd Jan but FD has an odd timeline for sending out the bonus. I think it says something like before the 20th of the month after you have met all the switch criteria. Given that it is the 11th March today and I was probably still ticking off the criteria in Feb, I would say yes, I that is probably accurate, although not exactly specific!End of

Keep looking out for bank switches and switch again when you can. Just review the FD t&cs don’t have a clause you have to keep for so long. It does affect your credit score slightly so only do if you aren’t looking to apply for credit any time soon.Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Just took dd1 for her first practice session in my car! There was quite a bit of stalling but it didn’t let it get to her. She just restarted and tried again. I am very proud of her. I didn’t even fear for my life or anything! 🤣

You are brave. When DS was learning he practiced in my car but luckily my father was still alive & he did it. It went really well too which is more than can be said about him taking me practicing but I got really good at driving with tears pouring down my face.1

Ah, bless you @badmemory that sounds awful.I’ll be honest, I was a little apprehensive and we did a lot of practice of stopping and starting and basically drove around in a circle a lot, but for a first go it was pretty good. I am trying desperately hard to remain calm and give her time to think as she very much likes to figure things out for herself and asks questions if she needs help rather than be told what to do. It is no doubt going to teach me as many lessons in patience and emotional regulation as it is going to teach her in driving as we progress! 🤣
Did I mention that my Trigeminal Neuralgia is from a bad car accident 13yrs ago which also gave me PTSD and for a long time I was too terrified to even get in a car as a passenger or driver?! Even now I still have the occasional nightmares and flashbacks of the accident. But dd1 really wants to practice and since my car will become hers as soon as she passes her test, it seems only sensible to have her learn in it too. I just need to keep my own baggage to myself and focus on helping her. 🤞End ofDec-24 May-25 Brother £ 5,400.00 £ 5,200.00 Overdraft owed £ 1,349.90 £ - MBNA CC £ 10,534.20 £ 12,056.18 Barclaycard CC £ 9,667.21 £ 8,138.15 Fluid CC £ - £ 732.50 NatWest CC £ 12,018.14 £ 11,774.23 Total debt £ 38,969.45 £ 37,901.06

That's great for your daughter and well done to you for braving the car. It must be an emotional upheaval to let her drive, but the more practice she gets, the better a driver she will be. I had a lift last night from a young woman who drives a lot of miles for work and you can feel in her driving how good she is. I've seen the same in other young people who drive for work - you just know they really know what they are doing.
She will get there - and you will make progress with your healing as you help her. Must be love that you are there for her.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
