Omg, I have completely broken my spreadsheet. Why oh why did I think it was such a good idea to revamp something that has been working fine for over 20yrs! I mean, I know I have gone through cycles of being in debt and being debt free, but at least I always knew where I was! It is now 8th March and I’ve not been able to balance my accounts since the beginning of the month. 😨 I am seriously considering scrapping all the work I did, taking a fresh copy from Feb and starting again. It is a lot of work to do that as I’ve effectively been spending on the ‘wrong’ accounts for a week and I now have no idea if I have enough money in each account to cover everything due to go out, but nothing adds up. It is my worst nightmare! I mean I know it is bad because I don’t even want to look at it. 😞
At least if I take a few copy I will understand how it is supposed to work. 🤞
One thing I do know is I sure as hell am not continuing with any kind of velocity banking going forward! 🤣End ofDec-24 May-25 Brother £ 5,400.00 £ 5,200.00 Overdraft owed £ 1,349.90 £ - MBNA CC £ 10,534.20 £ 12,056.18 Barclaycard CC £ 9,667.21 £ 8,138.15 Fluid CC £ - £ 732.50 NatWest CC £ 12,018.14 £ 11,774.23 Total debt £ 38,969.45 £ 37,901.06

Oh poor spreadsheet, and poor you! It's horrible when it feels as though all that work has gone to waste, though I have a lot of faith that lessons learned through mistakes lead to better learning. You will come through with better understanding and thus with better ability to deal with the situation.
I'd be inclined to start again but not scrap the problematic version till you're up to date, in case you need to refer back to anything. You can do it - it's eight days, no more. Tackle a day and a bit at a time and you'll soon be back on track.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Just think if you had amended the original & couldn't get back to it. As cherryfudge says it is only a week - you can do it.

I know, I know. A week doesn’t sound that bad right? Only I have done a LOT of little transfers between actual bank accounts in that time in a bid to make it make sense. Now none of it makes sense! 🤦♀️
I know I will eventually get it all sorted again, (reconciling is kind of in my blood) but I just didn’t want to spend my annual leave staring at a computer. I have started - I took a fresh copy from February and reconciled all of the easy accounts, then I decided to take a break and decided to visit my brother. Run away…. 🤣Even visiting didn’t really work though. I could tell it was still on my mind as I ended up telling him all about my random spreadsheet conundrum! He’s very patient. 😁 I hadn’t spoken to him since before Christmas so I filled him in on some of the great deals I had come across in my quest for debt clearing. Even though we are in very different financial positions I never feel like he looks down on me for it which is nice. That said, I’m not sure if he secretly took pity on me this time as once I started talking about all the free food I’ve been getting from Olio, he did then buy me an Indian for dinner. 🤔 In contrast to my exciting purchase this month - 2for1 cinema tickets through Meekat movies - his exciting purchase this month is going to be a brand new EV car! He just can’t quite decide on the colour. 🤣
I had a really lovely time (always do visiting my brother - he is awesome 😁), but I was not too happy to get home to discover the wall in my front garden is now broken. It is an old wall but what annoys me is the next door neighbour had a new front gate fitted a few months back and without asking, the new gate post was screwed into my wall. I noticed the gate blowing around quite violently in the wind a few days ago and it was bashing into the latch rather than catching. I suspect this banging is what has caused the mortar in the wall to fail. Yes, the wall is old and needed repointing but now there is a whole section of bricks that are only attached to her gate post rather than the rest of the wall! And frankly, it is now dangerous. I was doing so well not fixing the house but I draw the line at dangerous so that will have to be fixed. Part of me wants to go and ask her to foot the bill but the rest of the wall also needs looking at so it’s probably not worth falling out over. Just an expense I could do without.Oh, and I forgot to mention the new window I am also now buying. 😞
As fast as I pay it down something else breaks. I really cannot wait to move!End ofDec-24 May-25 Brother £ 5,400.00 £ 5,200.00 Overdraft owed £ 1,349.90 £ - MBNA CC £ 10,534.20 £ 12,056.18 Barclaycard CC £ 9,667.21 £ 8,138.15 Fluid CC £ - £ 732.50 NatWest CC £ 12,018.14 £ 11,774.23 Total debt £ 38,969.45 £ 37,901.06

Surely when you have the wall rebuilt the bit attached to her gate will have to come down first.0

I think it would be reasonable to say that her gate needs to be secured to something other than your wall, if only because the wall isn't strong enough. If the wall is repaired and the gate reattached, it could weaken the wall again and of course her gate is at risk too.
I do sympathise about the spreadsheet - mine grinds to a halt every time I go on holiday as I've never completely worked out things like travel that isn't by car, or meals out that replace meals I would have cooked at home. As for how to negotiate different currency, well, it's a step too far.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
