I am with you on the cards.  The local ones that people just put through the door are still arriving but the posted ones have virtually ceased.  A lot of it in my case I think is an age thing as it is over 70s (like me) who are missing.  But I have undergone a significant amount of "natural wastage" over the last five years.  I doubt however that I will ever have to buy more Xmas cards as I have a stash at least 8 inches tall still.  I just wish the stamps were as cheap as the cards.
I usually like to support charity shops and I have bought them in January if I’ve got my act together. However this year I have saved the fronts of the cards and have a stack of craft cards - So next year or should I say this year those people who will get cards will probably get handmade ones!

I am feeling it’s going to be a handmade year this year if I can possibly pull it off using up lots of stuff that I’ve got at home in my attempt to follow through my intention on a year of reduce!

It will mean I will have to start thinking about making them very soon. I’m terrible at having an idea and leaving it to the last minute to sort.

I spoke to the postie this morning not our usual one - delivering our subscription coffee - asked him for the post - he was complaining that they are told not to deliver post on Sat only parcels - my parents and brother in laws cards are missing for DH which is a shame….

Although it’s a shame about having to cancel I’m sure DH will enjoy a belated birthday treat next month.

    Saturday

I can’t remember the last time we has a weekend when we could simply breathe out and not have something we had to do,

Win - slept from 11.30 ish - 7am without waking up and putting on audible to get me back to sleep

Win - a slow and gentle start to the day - including reading a new book from an old favourite writer - it’s currently though not doing it for me - I wonder if my tastes have moved on? ( island in the Sun - Katie Fforde)

Win - found a recipe for tonight that we had all the ingredients for other than meat and some veg - it was your Mary Berry‘s Tuscan chicken.

Win - a repair of a garment hook that had been sitting their for days

Win - embroidered “first aid” on a spare cosmetic bag that would have gone in the charity bag - now in the car with my bits and pieces of first aid gear - resuscitate mask etc ( been on my to do list for over a year 🤣).

Win - I have completed tasks both on my photo project and my craft WIP projects

Win - sorted packing items ( bubble wrap etc ) into a tub in the garage and my fancy dress clothes (80’s chic and Christmas fairy  into one of those printed laundry bags to store on a cleaned out shelf

    Spending

    NSD for me

Brought forward budgeted ( Butcher and Greengrocer ) for DH - he usually does this Sat morning simply wasn’t expecting to do it this weekend !

That’s a great use for the cosmetics bag. Re the book sometimes you get the odd book from a favourite author that’s not as good as usual I find.

I don’t like Katie Florde’s books as much as I did.

Hello @Sun_Addictand @beanielou - I am glad it’s not just me… I am tempted to give it up… but then it wouldn’t count to my Goodreads total…. However it’s very tempting 😉

    Hello dear friends

Yesterday a rare day spent doing not a lot

Win - the environmental agency flood alert has been turned off 🎉

Win - we had a completely chilled day - resting, box set ( a classic about a President played by Martin Sheen) and a pub lunch

Win - I have completed tasks both on my photo project ( sorting digital photos on my phone) and my craft WIP projects - completed joining one section of a blanket - now to weave in the ends…. )

    Spending

breakfast - from the two arches - DH birthday request - frustratingly I have the app and could have used points but with 15 mins to deadline the location finder wouldn’t recognise our address so in panic used another delivery service …… could have done better

Lunch - pub - this was DH choice a local favourite where he has a voucher for buy one get one free ( starter, main, dessert) for his birthday … so we saved on one main and one dessert, also meant he could cash in his Christmas present of 2 pints of ale in January.

He never wants anything so this year I gave him twelve IOU vouchers for each month of the year - around food and drink.. with the added bonus I hoped it would get us out the house doing our favourite things

    Monday

In theory this is a non working day where I can catch up with domestic chores and  go to my friends crafting chums session. However because I had a bug last week… this was half domestic half work day …. Getting my ducks in a row…..  although not helped by a poor nights sleep due to husbands bad dreams 😮.

    Did have a few wins

    Wins NSD!

Wins - HM Soup from mushrooms in the fridge and finishing the remainder of the casserole from sat night - not making it to the freezer!

Wins - 2 loads of washing

Wins - was able to transfer some funds from my pocket money account to pay off towards my debt.

Wins - paid for all my business expenses including a professional subscription from my business account - rather than our joint account lending it !

Wins - client meeting postponed from last week

Win - I have completed tasks both on my photo project and my craft WIP projects - completed joining one section of a blanket - now to weave in the ends…. )

I read some more of the Katie Fford book - and it is making me think about long term future and motivation to do better with our money - and mores to the point my spending

Renamed it Project 2 C’s -   Cumbria and Caribbean
