So pleased your DH spoke up when the GP called @bubbs. Good for him! I'd certainly have thought his records would have been updated online without them having to wait for snail mail.

Kidney 'failure' sounds a bit stark but some impairment can happen with medication. DH saw it listed on his medical records and he didn't know he had it. Apparently it's a side effect of his BP medication but the GP's not worried about it.

It's good news about the appointment. The horrible waiting will be over and then you can focus on any treatment needed and move forward . 🤗

I've not been on a scooter or motor bike for years @joedenise but it's certainly the weather for it. 😎

I weighed at the surgery this afternoon and I'm 0.1lbs below the top end of target range. Phew! 😁 It was later in the day than usual and Tuesday isn't many reining in days from the weekend but I've got some work to do!

I made a cheat chicken dinner tonight like we had when we didn't have a kitchen. It's just a YS packet of chicken breast slices, reheated in gravy on the hob. I used HM chicken gravy from the freezer and it was delicious. Gravy had thickened so I added some stock.

    Today's plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, berries (S), banana (F)
    L- Spanish omelette (P, F, S), pickles (S)
    D- chicken dinner (P, F, S)
    Syns - 2

bubbs. That is a brutal way for the Dr to tell your DH that his kidneys are starting to fail. Speechless.
    Sorry to hear. Xx

That’s terrible @bubbs. No bedside manner at all xx

We didn’t make it to Launceston but are 3.5 miles outside now. DSis has an issue with a toe…. We are slightly over half a day ahead of schedule so not too worried. Apparently the weather will turn next week so not looking forward to that!

Thanks everyone, kidneys can't be that bad no mention of it on his online records, only patient got angry on the phone 😂 dh said he'd know if i was angry if he thinks thats angry he needs to think again 😂 and all the other blurb he already knows! Also he said blood test in 6 mths, no salt, banana's were the things he mentioned, well i only put a pinch of salt in veg when cooking, he never adds salt to food and don't think he has at a banana since finishing work! He asked him about drinking and smoking , which he don't do either. Also said limit water intake.
Honestly tonight after that phone call is the most we have laughed all week as DH made a joke out of it.

Coxy, hope your dsis toe is ok and soon heals.

Beanie docs don't seem to give a toss now sadly

Glad you can laugh about it all @bubbs. Need a sense of humour at times like this.

I just got the results back from a sensitivity test I sent off for (hair strands). Apparently I’m 100% intolerant to onions, garlic, mushrooms (of all kinds) plus camels!!!

Morning all, early one this morning as think it's going to be a busy one!  Will need to get the motorhome packed with both clothes and food.  I also need to get the bedding washed and dried as DH had a spot/mole on his back bleed so didn't want to leave that too long before washing - it's only spots of blood so not a bad bleed - not sure if I've said before but he's on blood thinners and the slightest cut bleeds for ages.

It's a good job your DH has got a sense of humour @bubbs - your Dr doesn't seem to have a clue about talking to patients.  @Coxy11 is right he hasn't got any bedside manner at all ... and the advice about cutting down on water seems contrary to everything I've ever been told about kidneys is that you need to keep well hydrated so the complete opposite to what he's been told.

The salt thing seems to be a constant with Drs somehow.  DH and I have been told the same and like you I only had a pinch to cooking potatoes and veg.  Have to admit to adding a bit more to chips but then I often don't par boil them before cooking if doing them in the air fryer!

Do your your DSis' toe heals quickly @Coxy11 - can't be good walking with a bad toe.  You seem to doing well on your hike, perhaps  the good weather is helping.  Hopefully the weather won't be too bad when it turns next week.

    Today's plan:

    B - toasted cheese sandwich, pickled onions - HEA2; HEB; S
    L - minced beef hash - P; S; F
    D - jerk chicken, rice 'n' peas - P; S; F; 2.5

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - coconut milk 2.5

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, still plodding along here.

Have a lovely time away @joedenise
Good your DH has his appointment @bubbs and he has a sense of humour! I think a lot of people in the medical world should go on mandatory annual patient care courses.

Apart from the family drama, I think my mood has been low as I’m missing my wee balcony on holiday! I spent many hours there without a care in the world, just me and my thoughts. So I’ve been looking at holidays 😁😎

I wasn’t hungry when I got up so will have a fry up for lunch with bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms. Might have toast with it using HEXB. Dinner is pork medallions, new potatoes, carrots and cabbage.

No sunshine today but I’ve still got a couple of loads on the line. I think I’ve got secret lodgers, it never ends haha.

I said you needed a holiday @Jellybaby!🤣 Where are you thinking you'll go next?🤔

You're right that the weather is due to break early next week @Coxy11 but I don't think it's going to anything like as bad as some you've experienced earlier in your trip. 🤞🏼 your sister's toe gets better soon. I suppose it's worth experimenting to see if cutting out those foods makes a difference. You'll miss onions in your orzo pots.

I think the salt thing is more of a problem for people who eat a lot of processed food @joedenise. Most of us cook mainly from scratch and make our own ready meals so we're in control of what we add in the cooking or at the table. There's a lot of salt and sugar 'hidden' in shop bought stuff. There's a programme on tonight about the Charlie Bingham meals. I know they are at the higher end but they're looking at mark up as well as ingredients. It'll be interesting to see how much people are paying for convenience.

    Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA1 milk, eggs (P), mushrooms and tomatoes (S)
L- cold meat (P), fried veg and pickles (F,S)
D- Spaghetti with meatballs in tomato sauce (P,S,F), HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns- 0

    Evening all!
Food is all over the place as head not in the right place so just grab & go 🙁.
Hubby is on MORE antibiotics (both intravenous & tablets) as still has infection although asymptomatic. Also had a blood transfusion yesterday 😱.  So we are backward & forward to kidney centre plus hospital appointments for heart scans & line realignment (still to come). Just glad I’m off work as I don’t get paid for time off! I also had to cancel my haircut 😡

We’ve just had the same conversation about Dr’s (lack of) bedside manner & also how they ‘forget’ who the treatment is for i.e the patient & the need to ASK them if it’s what they want not what the Drs want! Even after this conversation they sprung the transfusion on him 😤

I know it sounds odd about limiting fluid intake when you have kidney issues but it’s to stop the kidneys having to work too hard. Hubby has a daily fluid intake limit of about 1 litre (I say about as he often goes over when taking meds). Gets dehydrated a lot!

    Thinking of you Bubbs 💞🤞🏻💞

Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
