Morning all, up early this morning - can never sleep properly when we've had to set an alarm!  Wouldn't mind but it was only for half hour earlier than we normally get up but no kept waking up and we ended up getting up at 4.30!  Needed to get up a bit earlier than usual as DH has a hospital appointment and we need to leave around 8.15 so won't be a problem now!

Can't believe how much the temperature has dropped.  Just checked the forecast and it's currently 1 degree but feels like -3!  Max today is 4 this afternoon.  I hate the cold!  I really feel for those of you in Scotland where the temperatures are even colder and forecast snow, just hope it isn't too much.

Glad the new job seems good @Coxy11 and you were nice and warm!

It's very hard to pass up cake at times isn't it @milann!  Glad you've shared them with your DS and you're not going to eat them all yourself.  Just hope you enjoy the syns when you do eat them.

    Today's plan:

    B - toast, LF spread, marmite (1 slice), marmite (1 slice) - HEB; 3.5
L - eating out - probably chargrilled chicken, jacket potato, broccoli, peas (Harvester)
D - slow cooked vegetable stew with cheesy dumpling - part HEA; P; S; 4.5

    HEA - milk/parmasan
    HEB - bread
    Syns - LF spread 1.5; marmalade 2; lunch ?, flour 4.5

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all,

Yes decidedly colder today @joedenise 🥶 sorry you had such an early start! Hope the appointment goes okay. Poor DD left at 6:30am for work. I’m sure we’ll hear all about her woes later!!

Some errands to run today including sorting a slow puncture (DH), sending some parcels (me) and buying a new curtain cord amongst other things. Living the dream hahaha.

    Food today:
B - toasted protein bagel, marmite, satsuma - HEB, free, S
L - Brown rice pot, feta, edamame beans, pickles - free, HEA, S
D - pork and apple burgers, coleslaw, salad - 5
    HEA - milk
    Syns - 5

    Have a good day all

Arrghhh just wrote a post, pressed the button and the whole thing disappeared 😡

The short version is very pleased with the no snow too @beanielou just sleet here. Food mostly on plan - bacon roll for breakfast, lentil soup and fruit for lunch and dinner is what we call a ‘special fish’ from the chippy - a huge haddock in breadcrumbs (no chips as I don’t like chippy ones). A treat from my friend as I’m dog sitting for her.

The M&S cakes were an absolute bargain @milann, just hope you can portion them out within syns.🤔🤣

We had a cold start this morning too, probably the first time in single figures. The sun's  out now though and it's up to a balmy 9 degrees. Stay warm everyone. 🤗

I've never heard of 'special fish' @Jellybaby although it does sound good. I thought everyone liked chippy chips.😋

My taste is coming back a bit today but I'm still feeling a bit washed out. I sympathise with you having to get up so early @joedenise. Hope the appointment went well.

I called into the surgery when I was out this morning to use their scales. As expected, I'm about 2lbs over target range. I think I will go to WI tomorrow after all. It's not that I expect to lose a couple of pounds overnight (I wish!!) but going for the next few weeks will help keep me on track although I'm sure after all these years I should be able to discipline myself.🤣

    Today's plan -
B- HEB porridge, blueberries(S), banana (F), HEA milk
    L- chicken (P), vegetable rice (F, S)
    D- veggie chilli with rice (P, F, S), cottage cheese (P)
    Syns - 0

Pleased to say DH's appointment went OK; he's just got to continue with the treatment and they'll see how things are in 4-6 months time!  Unfortunately he needs a new cornea but the Dr was pleased that no scarring has occurred as once that happens the operation become much more urgent .

We went to the Harvester which is fairly near the hospital and I had the chicken, jacket & veg but no gravy so only syns a a couple likely for cooking the chicken and a bit of butter.  I did have a G&T so that was another 3 syns.  I'd say probably 10 syns?

DH went for the giant grill with a pork tomahawk, half chicken (must have been the smallest one ever!); black pudding, onion rings, flat mushroom and some sort of croquette with sweetcorn in.  I had a piece of the pork which was really succulent.  We were both impressed with the meal and would definitely go there again if we're in the area at the right time for lunch!

We definitely won't be having the vegetable stew with cheesy dumplings tonight!  We'll have that tomorrow night instead.  If I want anything later I'll probably have a cheese omelette and some fruit and yoghurt.  DH will probably just have a cheese sandwich on HM sourdough.

Pleased you haven't had any snow up in Scotland - that must be a relief but still freezing cold!

At least you've made the decision to carry on with going to SW @maman; it's always difficult to decide what's best.  To be honest if I was you I'd carry on going until at least you can get the new books which are due between Christmas and New Year!  I was toying with the idea of just going in January to get the books but wonder if that is a bit too cheeky!

Wow that was an early start Joe Denise.
Maman I’ve been doing SW for years too….i think discipline is definitely harder for me these days than it used to be. Now I’m not working there’s no routine and I’ve had many times when I’ve not been well enough to go out to do things so I’m loathe to turn any opportunity down 🤭🤭which means I eat out much more than I should 😯
The special fish sounds interesting Coxy.
Im pleased you haven’t had snow Beanie…..I always think of you when the weather is bad in Bonny Scotland.
i had an appointment this morning at hospital for a steroid injection. I’m an NHS patient in a private hospital about a mile from home. I walked there through my favourite lock down walk. The deed was done and Dh picked me up. As per doctor’s instructions I’ve had a lazy day today. He reminds me every time that the injections will stop working and I will need a hip replacement….I joke that he needs to keep thoughts like that to himself. He also reminds me very gently that keeping moving and especially keeping my weight down will help matters. Dh also went for a GP appointment this morning and was told his cholesterol is high and to make some lifestyle choices. That should be the kick up the backside we both need. I know all these things but my motivation is very low atm. I’ve given myself a talking to and kick up the backside.
Breakfast - egg on bread roll 6 syns
dinner - chicken, veg and lentil soup. Heb and hea toastie with ham and cheese
tea - chicken, mushroom and onions in sauce using 1/2 hea milk and cornflour 1 syn and garlic. Pasta
syns - apple, satsuma and a few pieces of cakes from my bargain stash…..not sure how many syns but shouldn’t be too far over my allowance. They’re only tiny pieces…..small off cuts from the tubs of flapjack and rocky road pieces by M&S
    January spends - £587.58
