@Miró - walnuts are such a find! But stick them in your freezer to preserve freshness straight away, as there is nothing worse that a rancid skin. Keep a few behind for snacking if you wish, but you can always take a few out at a time for the same purpose.
A couple of recipe recommendations: Rees Witherspoon's Derby Pie (not a million miles from the walnut tart pasted) and also the syrupy pecan pastry found in Greece could be made with walnuts instead (can't find an accurate depiction online but I can tell you its the most delicious dessert I have eaten).

Yesterday I bought one of these (better finished and inscribed "Do What Makes You Happy") for £2:

I shall use it to store books in use and hopefully keep me focused on what I am reading rather than spreading my attention on dozens (max capacity is 2 paperbacks). The prices on Etsy are pretty steep so I am happy with this.
I saw this exact top yesterday which I thought might do for layering up at home during the winter. Most tops were priced at £1 but at £3 I left it. The brand is Poetry which in real life is extortionately priced. I would have had it for £1 but no more than that because it had that "sack of potatoes" look about it, and I doubt I would have ever worn it outside the house!
Also I found this fashion tutorial online - plenty of sensible advice, much of which I have learned through years of experience! But the younger generation could definitely learn a lot (and save a lot) from it.
Btw I love the scarf @Miró . I have lots of burgundy outerwear in my winter wardrobe so could provide a good home if you ever wish to part ways with it.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

That looks a good one too!! Note - it's american - volume measurements for dry ingredients are always a dead giveaway!! So @Miróin case you aren't aware 1 cup = about 225 ml.Rosa_Damascena said:A couple of recipe recommendations: Rees Witherspoon's Derby Pie (not a million miles from the walnut tart pasted) and also the syrupy pecan pastry found in Greece could be made with walnuts instead (can't find an accurate depiction online but I can tell you its the most delicious dessert I have eaten).

@Rosa_Damascena Isn’t burgundy supposed to be the ‘in’ colour this winter?@Brie Many thanks for the conversion tip. Nothing puts me orft baking more than the dreaded ‘cup’ measurement 😡
@Rosa_Damascena. Any thanks, have bunged then all in the freezer now with just a small supply for immediate consumption in the fridge. Wish I’d nabbed them all in previous years now 😟6 -
Scored a Woolovers lambswool jumper in heather colour at the weekend from Isabelle Hospice Hertford. Was £6.50. Funnily enough I’d set up an alert from Community Clothing for the same item which is currently OOS for £79. Muhammara is a delicious dip that can be made with walnuts. I had this years ago in Dubai, and several other times in Lebanese restaurants - very moorish! https://ottolenghi.co.uk/pages/recipes/muhammaraMiró said:From the Sue Ryder shop, a bnwt lambswool scarf for £3.99. Label said Edinburgh so I thought it was Edinburgh Woollen Mill but on looking it up it is the .Edinburgh Lambswool Co and the scarf was selling for £80! Crikey, who pays that for a scarf? We have an old walnut tree in the village that nobody bothers with so I trundled up with the wheelbarrow and scooped up all the walnuts, even the squirrels didn’t want them! Now dried and weighed…5.5lbs of free walnuts. Ermm, what does one dooo with an excess of walnuts? (Currently researching candied walnuts….)
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!8 -
I had a bargain this week, was in Selby (really good spot, lots of shops in a small area - think it was recommended on here - even has a nice map) and I picked up a lovely M & S pure pale grey cashmere jumper for £5.50. I couldn’t find a price so asked at the till, the bloke was asking if that was ok 🤣🤣
