Have loved shopping for books in Hay-on-Wye. Have made several trips there. Like to stay at the Old Black Lion Inn and walk around to the book stores. Found that all of them would ship books - even the Oxfam shop. One trip alone I shipped 40 books of books home. A lot of them went to the Family History Library where I was working with the British Isles Society of Los Angeles. We had quite a collection of parish histories - many of which are now in Salt Lake City. I personally was collecting material on the Home Front in World War II. I miss visiting there a lot.14

I've been to Hay-on-Wye before.

I went around the Leigh charity shops as I was hoping to find a fleece top for my friend as it is his birthday tomorrow. I was very unlucky and didn't find anything at all for him, but I did for myself!
I got a white Wallis coat, a red heart jumper, a cardigan, a black and white jumper, two necklaces and a book. The book was only 25p as the shop is sadly closing down. 7 -
A friend at our art class this afternoon says this place is worth the drive from Bournemouth. (about 4 hours each way)

Sorry to disappoint but I don't think it's a 4hr drive from you - it's a good two hours from me! It will be on my list if I ever do get a weekend away in Norwich.Brie said:A friend at our art class this afternoon says this place is worth the drive from Bournemouth. (about 4 hours each way)

AA route planner suggests it will take 3 hours 51 minutes, but I haven't put the shop's exact location. And that's assuming the M25 is running smoothly.....Rosa_Damascena said:

A couple of dresses picked up from St Gemma’s Hospice Shop in Otley. B/n Jacques Vert clover pink dress with draped cowl neck thingy effect at the back £5.99 and an M&S brushed cotton shirtwaister stylee midi dress 99p. The pink dress might do for a forthcoming June wedding, the M&S sadly is too small so off to Vinted it goes☹️

Very nice M and s dress!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!6 -
At first glance I thought it was heavily sequinned, its only when I read that it is in jersey that I realised it is not. Sequinned would have been uber-stunning!!Watty1 said:Very nice M and s dress!
This is supposed to be good news - I changed my mind when I saw the picture! For this is the shopping area in Harold Hill that hosts not less than 5 chazzers and I had considerable success in when diverted around Gallows Corner this summer: https://www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/25524998.harold-hill-selected-government-pride-place-funding/ .
Gallows Corner looks to be out of business due to unforeseeables until 2026 - we were originally told it would be up and running by 22nd Sept 2025 - so I will make the most of it whilst I can en-route to London. The diversion is otherwise a grade A PITA but the alternative is to route through Romford proper, which is even less desirable.
