I'm not a Denby fan myself but I saw this in a local chazzer the other day. I have no idea if it offers value for money though!!:
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.9 -
Gods, yes! Look at all those plates (fans self & ponders if I can get away with birthday raid - er, son has watchful eye on me...)7

Reading & thinking, it strikes me that I am lucky to have gone all out on Denby & not had a 'best' - also that those few pieces that come out at Christenings & Christmas (the vegetable serving dishes, the gravy boat etc) will go to sons who know they come out for Christ- alone & I will be lucky to find a daughter-in-law who gives a hoot. Whomever she is, so long as the lads are happy, if they want to eat off Royal Doulton, IKEA or some of the Denby, I shouldn't fuss.
So I really should crack on with the sorting & cataloguing so that in the downsized future I have small reference pieces (all carefully labelled so the lads know what they were) and then let the rest back into the wild. It may be in the future that one small jug will carry on for generations as its useful for milk, that a cup & saucer are kept to hold a candle & memories of the eccentric little old lady dad talks about. Meanwhile I am still using & loving my Denby (and have enough that we only need to wash up about once every five days - no dishwasher here but our four hands) but also a room of boxes that make the word "hoarder" sting a little. Still, if I loose the china, I can make a better case for the books... And the remaining DVDs & CDs and all the gardening stuff (that is too often single use plastic, but I am not hauling down the flag enough to put seedlings in Denby teacups). Actually I pity my sons trying to get me to downsize as I have outstubborned them, been helped to acquire all this china by them - they're on thin ice - til they come up with the honest truth, "we'll gift it for target practice mum".9 -
Got a nice pink, beige and orange Simply Be jumper from the thrift store today. Lucky as the jumper I bought away with me isn’t actually my favourite and also got chocolate on it and I’m meeting a friend tonight who likes to sit outside as he vapes.35 NS&I

@DigForVictory - your comment about your "room of Denby" got me thinking and wondering whether in a few years time it will be all the rage. It seems to me that over the years I can remember that many things have gone through this sort of complete drug on the market followed by becoming sought after trajectory so maybe it would be worth your keeping hold of them. What do you and others think?9

Popped into donate a pile of stuff to local charity shop and so much china had been donated. Beautiful stuff like Wedgewood white cups and saucers and the cutest white soup bowls. 8 of each for just £5 Also some very pretty vintage cups and saucers. I was so tempted. But realistically I have 50 year old china already in my cupboard not being used and am planning on moving in the next couple of years so I should not be adding more.
Chatting, the stuff had been there a couple of weeks. It is sad that no one wants or uses this beautiful stuff, and so much cheaper than buying new.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8 -
I’m away for the weekend visiting friends and we went to Lady Heyes antique centre in Frodsham yesterday. So much crystal glass and many bone china dinner services, plus Denby - all at amazing prices. Didn’t get to stop at Frodsham but looked to be a few good CS’s.I got an egg hen for DS1 for £10 which I’ll put away for Christmas. He does want one in case anyone is wondering!Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 20/25 Currently reading Finding Hildasaay by Christian Lewis9

Enjoying all of the Denby.
A pretty china butter dish arrived from eB. Royal blue with printed flowers on the lid. I have no idea who sent it or how to return it.9 -
