Hello turtles, just caught up for the last few days and I'm glad to read about good progress. @Thrifty_Taylor
sorry to hear about the doctor's awful manners, I think you would be right to complain.
This week was very busy and I'm glad work has finished. I've already got ahead a little bit for Monday, and have a list of updates for my manager, so they will not keep buzzing around my head the whole weekend.
Proud of myself for not having purchased a single needless thing this week, especially considering I keep receiving loads of marketing emails promoting the biggest sales ever, but haven't opened them. I've only ordered a set of bedsheets, as I only have 1 duvet cover the correct size of the new bed, so that was needed. I found a very pretty one, which fits with the new decor, and it should arrive at the beginning of next week.
Tomorrow I am supposed to go do my volunteering, have already been each Saturday so far this January, however the activity I signed up for required 2 volunteers to work together, and the person who signed up alongside me has had to cancel. The coordinator sent out an email, but so far no one has signed up, so my shift might end up being cancelled. I am a bit disappointed, but at the same time I am looking forward for a bit of relaxing time home alone, and maybe get to do some sorting and decluttering in some messy pockets of the house.
This week OH and I started eating properly again after the holidays excesses, and I do feel much better about it. Energy and sharpness of mind have already improved, and belly looks already a bit flatter, as I immediately get bloated for days when I eat certain foods. Tonight we are eating fish & chips, however, so a small exception, and it's a treat from OH who has had a very good start of the year, so I get to keep my NSD (also, as others in the thread, I am totally skint, with about 20 pounds left for the month, which have to last to go to the office next week, considering it costs me a little bit more than £15 to travel to the office, there's not much left!).
Today was NSD #10.
Today I am grateful for it being Friday, for having being organised and planning ahead at work, for OH buying us a lovely dinner (which is not here yet, but I know it will be lovely).
Take care and hope everyone who hasn't been very well will have a better day tomorrow.Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

Hi all just a quick update - January is BUSY. Tuesday I did a little talk about AI at the local museum, I learnt more from the the other speakers at the seminar though, not my specialism.
Grateful for having managed my first 5 day week in a long time.
Celebrated by scrubbing the fridge, that was fairly manky, so really needed doing.
Laundry and vacuuming is now tomorrow, even though ds2 actually vacuumed yester day, I still need to do my room.
Also grateful I managed to take a third off my broadband, although I had to lower the bandwidth, but their service is rubbish anyways, so I will spend less time swearing!
Yesterday I wrote a poem to take to poetry club and they liked it, even though it was so full of typos - I didn't even spell my own name right.
Grateful that ds2 is making dinner, ds1 has completed first week of placement in his professional therapy masters and he hasn't been in touch, I guess that means he is socialising!
Life is good, happy weekend everybody.

Good morning. Last night was my DB’s birthday and he decided to get an Indian take away which was absolutely delightful. It means I didn’t get a nsd but totally worth it as I enjoyed every bite. We all sat together as a family and had lovely conversation and laughter. A brilliant end to the week. Now on the final countdown to pay day and the end of January. I have tried really hard to not hate January this year and try to be more positive about it. Looking for the smallest wins.Glad to hear all the turtles are doing well this January and I hope that continues.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #829

Mr Builder came yesterday, put worktop on the 2 units on the side wall (he had help because he needed to cut a piece off a 2.4m length. I said I'd put the 2.4 m length in place when I'd been building the old kitchen (20 years ago) but apparently these ones are twice as heavy as the old ones and much tougher. They have dug a piece out of the floor to take the waste pipe from the shower. He's coming back with Mrs Builder tomorrow to wrestle the shower tray into place. He went off to work on 2 more jobs (he was hoping to cut his hours back after the heart episode last year) and said he'd too much to get done in 10 days. I said I thought he was going on holiday on the 22nd (3 days not 10) and he said he just goes where Mrs Builder tells him to go. I said she could go without him, leaving him behind with a list of jobs to do and he said he'd hop on a plane to a European destination as soon as she left the house.
So I'm slightly worried about how much will get done before they go. Having a working sink and a plumbed in WM and DW is a great improvement. They were hoping I'd have a working shower and toilet but the snow and ice caused delays (units delivered late and outside drains still not dug) but there isn't much I can do about that so I need to plod on with the things I can do.
Two bulk deliveries arrived yesterday and the day before and I did my best to deal with those but I'm tired and coming down with something (I missed my vitamin D and joint pills as I could only access one supply and the sachets were in the other. Later I did a reshuffle of my pills box and have dealt with some smaller boxes so I have some room near the couch. Whether I can get the lap table and the toaster into the space remains to be seen. I can't find a few food things I know I have and I'm reluctant to buy food I might already have in the house. I used up the last of the hm soup, an ood box of crackers and some more recently purchased bits but I need more space to attempt anything more adventurous. Finally found the paper bowls and cups I'd hidden so when I do the washing up, I'll put the real ones to one side.
My legs are still weak, I've had my ankle strapped up and my knees are having a daily dose of ibuprofen cream. Standing up is hard but will try doing some things sitting down. I have a wooly hat and gloves to wear tomorrow (going for a meal with DS1 and darling d-i-l. Think I'll raise the subject of being taken to their house for 2 or 3 days, once the builders are on holiday. I just want a bed, easy access shower and toilet and to be fed. I can entertain myself and am happy to slob on their couch and play with the dog.
I'm pretty much shopped out atm. There are still things I want/ need and extensive browsing has uncovered a few things - welly boots available in various calf sizes. They're expensive but not as expensive as buying 2 or 3 pairs that won't go on.
Was ravenous this morning (toast loaf is on the far side of the room under more boxes and the toaster is on top of the desk, I have yoghurts but can't find those either) so I ordered a full breakfast from one of the few shops open (7 am). I think I ordered from them about a year ago (birthday breakfast?) and it was good. I think they are the people who the welders at an industrial estate used (I cleaned there in the earlier 2000's). I'm going to read my e-book for a while before strapping my ankle up and putting my shoes on (legs are staying under the bedding for now (I am showered and dressed).
Grateful for work getting done, something to look forward to, not fretting about things I can't fix.7 -

Having to take in a lodger may have been a blessing in disguise.... She sounds lovely (((hugs))) xxx
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy9 -

Thanks for your support folks. Glad your leg is improving @DawnW, & you made a good choice in your lodger @beanielou, you deserve to be spoiled!
Stayed over at mum's house last night, finished knitting another gonk & we battered & watched TV. Collected my spare sewing machine from the repair man, so there'll be no stopping me now!
Today I met with a customer, collected (7 bags) repairs/alterations, then went shopping. Had 10% off in L1DL, so stocked up on things for next month. Went for a walk with DH after putting it all away, before it got dark.
Watched TV & sewed up the gonk. It's nearly finished now & can then post it off to my SIL.
Grateful for hearing from DS1 on his holidays, time to relax & rest, going for a walk, a calm day without even a breezeUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
