Ooof busy few days! Some more spendy than others j have to say.

Youngest yoof was correct when he asked for an early eye test and did indeed require new glasses which was an unanticipated cost this month but not disastrous.

I've been inspired by some of the other threads and increasingly anxious about the news regarding predicted food shortages (I am chicken licken!!) so this week I have started tackling a new veggie patch area - my old one is now Tortoise mansion so I've moved some plants from another area to create a new space. Currently I've got everything starting off inside and keeping it relatively simple - lettuce, Tom's, potatoes, peas and courgettes. I'm not the best gardener but what I lack in skill I make up in enthusiasm!!!

Still scrabbling round for that elusive 35 quid to finish off April's mortgage overpayment....... tomorrow's job is checking the back of the sofa!!

Oh jumping Jimney why is life never just plain sailing????

Regular readers will be aware of my deep fear of things going wrong with the car and recently all has been relatively well ........ but ofcourse 1 month before mot day it's developed a funny noise. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh.

Lovely car mechanic friend is coming round tomorrow although I think it might be the exhaust. I'm hoping its the exhaust anyway and not the engine 🤣 I've been so religious at saving the EF/car replacement fund and ideally I'd probably want a little more to get a decent replacement (not brand new obviously!) But I'm just not quite there yet for a total cash payment. Stuff and bother.

I reckon it's just the brackety thing that holds the exhaust on, really cheap easy fix!

Goodish news - a wheel bearing (baring??) Is just a bit worn, exhaust and engine are (so far) OK. Cheapish to fix and no wheels imminently falling off. I live to ride / drive another day.

Budget overall not too bad for a week before payday, looking to tighten the belts in this week as potentially could save additional £400 this month (on top of our usual monthly savings amd would go towards the EF) ..... ambitious?? Very especially given it's bank holiday weekend coming up but it would be super good to try!

I do think that inevitable brick wall moment is looming. I've never felt so stressed in my life before tbh
