Ooof busy few days! Some more spendy than others j have to say.
Youngest yoof was correct when he asked for an early eye test and did indeed require new glasses which was an unanticipated cost this month but not disastrous.
I've been inspired by some of the other threads and increasingly anxious about the news regarding predicted food shortages (I am chicken licken!!) so this week I have started tackling a new veggie patch area - my old one is now Tortoise mansion so I've moved some plants from another area to create a new space. Currently I've got everything starting off inside and keeping it relatively simple - lettuce, Tom's, potatoes, peas and courgettes. I'm not the best gardener but what I lack in skill I make up in enthusiasm!!!
Still scrabbling round for that elusive 35 quid to finish off April's mortgage overpayment....... tomorrow's job is checking the back of the sofa!!

Oh My days is it really that long since I updated? Bless you @Rhyddid2026 for checking in xx much appreciated.
Life decided it was going to do what it does best and chuck everything at me all at once 🤣 Between the teen starting exam season, the youngest doing a music exam, work stress, dh being away most weekends and further decline for my dear dad I've found myself pulled from pillar to post. Not an unfamiliar scenario for many I know but when my MIL said she was feeling a bit neglected I nearly screamed 🤣 (I didn't)
Money wise things are just ticking along really. EF is up to 9k, the budget is budgeting and doing it's thing and allowing some snall morrgage overpayments. I did have to pay for the dentist this month (but a good visit for once!),and I did spend 30 quid on some new work clothes as both a top and pair of trousers developed holes beyond repairing 😂😂 Ah I spent 30 quid on the garden (shush)
Just feel like I'm juggling family plates at rhe moment but I'm grateful it wasn't this time last year as I think additional financial stress would have probably finished me off 🤣
Hope Everyone is well and I will endeavour to update more often even if it's for me to off load!

Oh jumping Jimney why is life never just plain sailing????
Regular readers will be aware of my deep fear of things going wrong with the car and recently all has been relatively well ........ but ofcourse 1 month before mot day it's developed a funny noise. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh.
Lovely car mechanic friend is coming round tomorrow although I think it might be the exhaust. I'm hoping its the exhaust anyway and not the engine 🤣 I've been so religious at saving the EF/car replacement fund and ideally I'd probably want a little more to get a decent replacement (not brand new obviously!) But I'm just not quite there yet for a total cash payment. Stuff and bother.

I reckon it's just the brackety thing that holds the exhaust on, really cheap easy fix!

Goodish news - a wheel bearing (baring??) Is just a bit worn, exhaust and engine are (so far) OK. Cheapish to fix and no wheels imminently falling off. I live to ride / drive another day.
Budget overall not too bad for a week before payday, looking to tighten the belts in this week as potentially could save additional £400 this month (on top of our usual monthly savings amd would go towards the EF) ..... ambitious?? Very especially given it's bank holiday weekend coming up but it would be super good to try!

A difficult week all round although I did try to get some time to chill and enjoy the weather at the weekend.
As expected the additional savings target was overly ambitious but we did manage an extra £250 on top.of the usual planned saves so not a total disaster.
I fear I'm at that age where everyone I know seems to be either dealing with family illness, illness themselves or some.kind of family emergency. Between trying to be supportive and managing our own things I never seem to feel as on top of things as I used to be - more hamster in wheel running madly than swan like swimming through life. I've been finding solace in gentle exercise (walking) and gardening. The garden decking I deemed dangerous at the weekend so DH has been tasked with pricing up and planning- we knew it was coming to the end of its life but now action can no longer be kicked down the road.
IVe also agreed to do a music project which now seems ridiculously ambitious on my part given everything else I am juggling. Cant quite decide if it's Imposter syndrome or a realistic assessment......
Hope everyone else is keeping well Chin Up! Lzzy x

I do think that inevitable brick wall moment is looming. I've never felt so stressed in my life before tbh
