Ooooo daily obsessive bank account checking continues........ I always forget one of my jobs pays early compared to the rest of the health care world and landed in my account today!
There was a small surplus (14 quid) so have moved that out into a renamed pot labelled "school holidays". I realised after my blip in half-term I need to budget better for the holidays tbh. I'm still Debt busting focused but I want to be realistic with some of these little surpluses that they may be better saved to avoid adding to the debt or ravaging the savings.

Keep the Faith Bon Jovi
Bit of classic 90s Jovi today - I'm.starting to trust the process more and more and especially today when I realised that 2 months have passed with all bank accounts in the black and not in the over draft halfway through the month. Not huge surpluses but by heck this is a massive improvement from where I began.
I've jiffled the pots and standing order amounts slightly - not hugely but I'm starting to see patterns emerging in spending. Im watching for areas where the wheels may come off and trying to premept issues. One of these is the petrol money pot which runs really quite low by the end of the month and could do with a bit more of a buffer in case of a heavy driving month at work. I have no control over where work sends me although I can claim most of it back retrospectively but this is where I've built up debt in the past so I'm actively trying to avoid it.
I did enquire today also about increasing my payment for my loan by a few pounds a month but whilst I am allowed to manually do additional payments I'm not allowed to increase the DD. Do they not realise I only like nice round numbers and the £17.93 of the payment really annoys me?????
However, today was not only a NSD but also a Make Money Day with 20 quid earnt from a side hustle. Rather than keeping the cash which then seems to slip through my fingers, I walked to the local post office and paid it in and then squirreled it into a savings pot. The exercise was nice (and free!) and I did also manage a home workout today too so feeling really good about that.
I'm going away on a rare work trip next week but dug out my leftover euros ready for the trip - found 70 euros so that is a bonus! Most expenses are covered but food and drink are not - it'll be big breakfasts to avoid buying lunch and searching out cheap street food 😅
Work tomorrow and an early.start so I need to get some sleep but shall go catch up on others diaries first.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

one more step along the world I go - Sydney Carter.
(yes I had to Google this as I only knew it as "primary school.hymn" but it popped into my head this morning and it's been there all blooming day on repeat. But good lyrics though and i still remember most of them!)
And breathe. Pay Day - surely everyone's favourite day of the week/month as for a brief moment we all feel better off (until we whisk most of it away towards Pots or debts!)
Today has been a day of returning car woes 🙄 (big sigh) so my hard earned over time money that arrived in today's pay is likely to disappear off towards trying to sort that out - how quickly did that 170 quid disappear. I do still have my secret savings which would cover a replacement car but I'm.not QUITE ready to throw the towel in on my current one just yet and so it's my mechanic mate to the rescue, hopefully, this weekend. Blooming cars 😑
Not quite a NSD as i spent £1.65 on some crisps today as my homemade lunch was, tbh, quite disgusting and although I wasn't massively hungry I did need to eat something. I went for the cheap bear shaped crisps the kids used to like when they were little. Took me back down memory lane and they are low in calories so another bonus (I could.do with losing a few pounds). I also paid one of the yoofs extra curricular activities so that's all settled up for this term (I pay in installments) although im sure they will start the summer installments soon and there's the residential trips to pay for too next month.
As we start the new month, 3 of my 4 debts are due tick down into the next 1000 bracket which I'm.quite excited about and I'm hoping to break below the 36k mark overall. I found some old scribbles from when I started which makes me wonder if my starting point was 40k rather than 39k - clearly maths has never been my strongest point - hopefully the number 35k is coming up next month though!
Anyway one more step along the road we go to debt freedom. Every day surely is a move closer, even if its a nudge or shuffle rather than a proper step. This diary continues to really help so as the hymn says "keep me travelling along with you".Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

You can't always get what you want - rolling stones
Argy bargy at home this evening.. .. this isn't the place to talk about work and I don't want to - I actually rarely talk about work outside of it but this can cause issues as even the hardest of hearts sometimes need a little output. Tonight I needed to offload and i don't think DH understands. Tbh he dont think he ever does but this is not m@msnet and Divorce however tempting is far too pricey at the moment.so we are stuck together. I'll confess I've thought about splitting before but finances would be an issue and when we got married we agreed to be a team so here we are.
Despite the emotional fallout money all is ok. I've found a great deal SIM wise for my phone, this old duffer just needs to work out how I keep my phone but change the sim amd provider whilst keeping my number I've had this mobile humber 28 years and I'm not relinquishing it now! Any help gratefully received

You just need a PAC code from your existing supplier that you give to your new supplierSealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j1 -
You can also just text PAC to 65075 and you should get the code. You give it to your new provider within 30 days to keep the number.
Hope everything has improved at home today."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
Thanks everyone. Positive Pants are firmly back on. DH has apologised and so have I for being unbelievably moody - he's really not a bag egg at all and I have enough self awareness to realise im not always the easiest person to live with. I think going away next week is stressing me out a bit too (I swear it's my age, younger me never stressed about these things at all) Over the years I've definitely turned into a Homing Pigeon and like my routines.
Do I purchase the new sim and then send the PAC code? It's been years since i changed provider and I'm remembering why I never actively choose to do it 🤣 I'm turning into my Granny here - a bit useless when it comes to these things!
Money has all whizzed off into their little pots for the upcoming month. I've just got to get ready for my Saturday side hustle although how much longer I will keep this one up I don't know, it's a lot of time and effort for fairly meagre returns (eldest yoof gets more for his Saturday job than i do!)Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Glad to hear you are feeling more positive today - I am also! Think mine is related to being perimenopausal to be honest.
I'm not sure of your age Lzzy but I was talking to my 9 year old yesterday about how there were four TV channels when I was growing up and you had to watch a programme when it was actually on, or if allowed - record it on a video. She said 'What's a video? Do you mean DVDs?' Jeez. Joking aside it was actually lovely to talk to her about it, she's so interested in my childhood and I do like a walk down memory lane every now and again!Nationwide CC: £1,309.48/£1,209.48/£447.96/£0
