I listen to audiobooks via the Borrowbox and Libby apps that I can access for free through the library. They might help while you pause your subscription.
I started to look into processed foods and now I avoid anything that is obviously over processed and I check the list of ingredients for anything new that I buy. If the list is too long, I don't buy it which helps but it is difficult to avoid all processed food.I love the £1 bunch of daffodils too. They seem like very good value for money for the happiness they bring. I bought a couple of bunches for my dad's carer for him to give her. They can't accept money so it seemed like a nice little thank you.
I've been humming Flowers in the Window this afternoon. Probably your fault 😉

oops I did it again (Brittney Spears)
So after a few days off and filling the days with useful and productiveness I finished the final DIY project and fell joyfully into the pub. Very unMSE really although the decorating has cost just the 4 quid (through quidco whenever that cashback arrives - probably 2029) as I've just used bits we already had.
In said pub a brewery rep happened to drop by, and when he mentioned pints may in the future increase in price by over 50%, my feedback was cheerful but honest in that no b*ggr would pay that round here when it's cheaper from the shop opposite and he did concede i had a point but was quite gloomy for a sales rep i feel (I was expecting Apprentice Style enthusiasm). I did get 2 free tshirts for my customer feedback at least so dh and the eldest are pleased about.
Ive also unearthed the bread maker and made a first bash at biscuits in my new drive of "going upf free but also staying in budget" today. Tasty but not quite perfected enough, but hopefully I'll get there.
Earnt 20 quid today sidehustling and very badly spent it within hours. Clearly work is good for me (definite eye roll here) and therefore I should be pleased I'm back to work tomorrow (I'm not. I could redo today several times over tbh) The treadmill of work looms tomorrow

Down Down (Status Quo)
I must confess I'm quite partial to a bit of Quo - a shameless guilty pleasure! Chosen today as loan payment has gone out and so has a payment to CC4 - 50% overall credit use is getting ever closer! So near and yet not quite there yet! That's a little mini milestone I shall definitely celebrate - most likely in March going by my debt busting projections. Still watching the SIM only deals for my phone - sorry V**phone but your deals are just too pricey at the moment. Last air time payment is this month and contract is up on 6th March. I'm hoping to shave a good 15 to 20 quid off my current bill which can go half and half to EF and CC3 (the biggie).
Work was OK - does feel like I'm paddling very fast but not actually getting anywhere at the moment but I know I'm not alone in feeling that so that's comforting.
Thanks for the compliments on my busy few days - I have turned into one of those annoying people that struggle to switch off, I always feel I should be "doing something". Sitting and doing very little is a skill I seem to have lost in recent years and I'm not sure that's a good thing tbh. Another home workout done though 💪 and I'm quite pleased at my dedication to doing them.2 -
Well done on the payments! One of mine goes out tomorrow and another a few days later. I can't wait.
Don't forget you can haggle your sim contract, or at least you can with o2 because that's who I'm with. I pay £15 a month for unlimited texts and calls and 30GB of data, but it's due for renewal now so I'll see what else is out there and tell O2 I'll move if they don't match it.Debts 04/01/25 01/03/25

I'm only sleeping (The Beatles)
What an album Revolver was/is. Anyway I digress ...... good lord I'm shattered tonight 😂 could fall asleep standing up and even I couldn't work up any enthusiasm for lifting weights tonight. Early night beckons I think so I can get some solid sleep.
Today was work and another marvellous NSD. Not a bad week for "Dent the Debt" with loan payment and CC4 payment going out as planned and these are down to £16 170.87 and £4124.20 respectively. I'm itching to make a little payment to round down CC4 to £4120 - I do like Neat and Tidy numbers - but annoyingly I can't do it via my banking app (M&S just cancel the payment) so will have to fish the appropriate debit card out from it's secret hiding place. Clearly also I seem to be a "Chip Away At Everything Debt Wise" person rather than Avalanche or Snowballer 😅 but if it works, it works right?
Overall the 3 x CC balances are down to a total of £20 475.20. Originally the balance was lower than this when I started but those with good memories will remember I used £1k towards the OD and it went up to £20 932 at the end of December. End of the month mini goal is to get this down to 20 175 by end of Feb and then 19800 by the end of March. The 19800 is a big goal (the 50% mark of available credit) and is roughly where the original total CC balance was. No regrets about paying that OD off but I don't think I'd have considered it without pouring over this forum. It's still a thing of wonder to look at my (several times) daily bank app and see the balance in the black and makes me feel so much more in control.
Off to check up on the other diaries - another busy weekend coming up and next week looks so so busy for me but one day at a time 💪

Yeah, it's probably more important to have a phone that actually works!!
I'm laughing that we both have a 20k CC by end of Feb goal.
