I would take the limit rise, it will be useful for shuffling balances around.  As long as you aren't spending on it then it's not an issue.

I must say out of all of my debts, the biggest satisfaction was getting rid of the overdraft.  I don't have one on any of my accounts as these days most of them give you a buffer until the afternoon to clear anything that comes out unexpectedly.  Knowing that every penny in our accounts is ours is lovely!

I'm so glad it wasn't just me thinking that about the limit. I like having the reassurance my plans aren't totally crazy.

It was such an odd feeling looking at my full pay just sat there in the account. Further down the line I will berate myself for the wasted money and years before the LBM but for now I'm focusing firmly on the future.

    Money for Nothing (dire straits)

Spent my day off working which isn't ideal but needs must sometimes. Did manage a bit of time for one of the side hustles so 20 quid earnt 💪 I shall squirrel that away to replenish the EF I think. I did want to do a home workout but after working late last night and working into this evening, time was not on my side sadly.

I have accepted the limit increase on CC2 and I have increased the DD for CC3 (focus of repayments currently) by £25 in the hope I won't miss this 😅  2 of the cards should drop down into the next 1000 bracket after the February payments and I'm impatient to see the numbers clock down.

Dinner was fajita wraps tonight- decided I need to be brave and face the scales of doom in the morning,  I can't really afford to get any larger  health wise. Still I have found reruns of Eldorado on U - what a throwback!!! - the sunshine is reminding me summer won't be far away (and we do have some nice things lined up) so it's inspiring me!

Well, you know what they say about looking after the pennies!  I think the impatience can be the hardest thing to manage on this journey.  Seems as though you're doing something actively towards your debt every day though.  I often remind myself that even the simplest decisions, such as choosing NOT to buy something, are a positive step forward.  Maybe take the time to congratulate yourself on these (I used to keep a list and look back on it when I felt like throwing in the towel)

Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

    Mortgage overpayment total = £300

@LzzyIsGod but that's a really good point @browneyed_girl - I've said before that my biggest issue really is impatience.  Even now, I've been paid for Jan and I've popped everything into my Monzo pots and made payments to cards etc.  But now I feel it's a waiting game until my next pay packet at the end of this month so I can do it again and reduce the numbers further!

So looking at each day and celebrating the no spends seems like a really positive idea!

Staying out of overdrafts is such a good feeling.  I used to think of kerplunk each time I got paid - all the marbles sitting in the pot and then on 1st of the month a stick was removed and they all tumbled in various directions.

Remember to give yourself the positive feedback you would give to others who achieve what you are achieving.

@LzzyIsGod just found your diary - loving it, especially the song references!

And you've inspired me to send Tilly Tidy type payments to the debts that I can so they are round numbers  :D

Thanks everyone for your comments and encouragement - I have a tendency to be very hard on myself sometimes and I need to remember life still goes and not every day will be a NSD or paying something off day!

Today's diary song title is Hand in my pocket (Alanis Morissette) as it has been a VERY spendy day.......

A kids' extracurricular club needed paying today (expected monthly installment so did have this earmarked) but then additionally there was a grading exam to pay for (59 quid!!! Nearly fell off my chair!) but I used some of my additional money from last month's overtime to cover that.

I have also prebooked a hair appointment for myself in march (my hairdresser gets very booked up!) - I'm not really a big buyer of clothes (although I have many!!) but I am very vain about my bonce as it is very distinctive and is rather my trade mark 🤣  In the past I frequented my marvellous hairdresser every 6 to 8 weeks but I suddenly realised the crowning glory has not been attended to since before Christmas and the last colour I had was October last year! Fortunately I do have a voucher towards paying for this so after the deposit today (29 quid) there will only be 6 quid to pay.

Frivolous spending on hair? Perhaps but people do notice your hair often before anything else (especially mine), and you do "wear" your hair every single day.  I could go somewhere cheaper but in the past its been an experience that has Not Gone Well, so for me it's likely to be something I shall compromise on slightly (ie not go as frequently and been more sensible in choosing colours that don't need redoing every few weeks) during the Austerity Years rather than a total alternative. Plus I still need to get through doors and without a reasonably regular cut my hair will be the size of a medium sized evergreen hedge and we can't have that either 🤣

Let's not mention the home haircuts I attempted 5 years ago during lockdowns - the kids are still traumatised by this and quite frankly I should not be let anywhere near a pair of scissors or a razor ever again.

I have curly (frizzy) hair. I dye it myself. My predicament is that my hairdresser is over 2000 miles away, so I haven’t had a haircut since August.  I’m going to make an appointment with my UK hairdresser for an event I’m attending in March. I’ll face questions about where I have been going.
