@Florenceem - it isn’t surprising that you are suddenly flagging with all that you have been going through. Try to do something which uplifts you and is just for yourself if you can.
@Soontobeoap - your home is looking lovely. I love that striped carpet and how orderly are those bookcases? Definitely something for me to aspire to there!17 -
Hi all, terrible decluttering day yesterday, shortly after posting I remembered I had a union meeting in the afternoon so by the time I had had some lunch and got organised for that it was time to go out. I called at OH"s house to pick up the mail on the way home and popped into the sm for bits so got home in time for tea. The weather yesterday was pretty grim, fog for most of the day and it's not looking much better today and we have storm Eowyn arriving tomorrow which will be interesting as the eye is forecast to pass right over us. One win is that OH has cleared the rest of the bags from the hall. I have no idea if they were sorted or just replaced in the boot of the car as it happened while I was out but I do still have the large top box resting against the radiator, OH has decided to use the small one. I have no idea where we are going to store the big one. I don't have the energy to even think about it atm, the b12 tiredness is pretty bad this time but just over a week to go till I get jabbed so not long now 😁. I didn't even get a session of ironing done so I will try to do 2 today to catch up and the frog is still jumping up at me 😂.I
@Muddy_Walker I meant to say the green blob was really very good for a first try so keep going, it will get easier 😁
@Soontobeoap your house looks beautiful, you must be so pleased, I would be ecstatic if just one room looked as good as that. As others have said I love the bookcase, such a clever idea 😁.
@Blue_Doggy book shops are my nemesis, even when I am buying them as gifts I will go in for 1 and come out with 4 😂
@Mrs SD sorry you had a wading through treacle day, sometimes that happens and all you can do is just go with it, hope you are feeling better today, hugs.
@weenancyinAmerica big hugs. I must admit I am flabbergasted by what you are having to cope with. I have to agree with @daisy_1571 what was Di thinking wanting to go out after only getting home from hospital in the morning. Glad J got his arris in gear to help but to then expect to use your car for however long I would expect nothing less. If I remember correctly your car is like mine, a bit on the elderly side, dare I ask who will be paying for repairs etc when needed? and how are you sorting out petrol usage? I think I am in agreement with @daisy_1571, time to reconsider selling and downsizing to somewhere you do not have to have roommates. When you have some energy and head space please have a serious think about this and put yourself and your needs first for a change, more hugs.
@Florenceem big hugs, as others have said try to do something that brings you joy
Right time for another cuppa and get my arris moving 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one
Take care everyone

I have had some fresh air - walked into town to the charity shop.
Just having a cup of tea and a chocolate bar.
I have filled my shopping trolley again - think I will take that and a large toy to the charity shop as we are due heavy rain tomorrow.
I have a SA dinner to ping so that is an easy meal before I go to the hospital.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Usual early morning house rubbish decluttering.I took baby for a walk complete with shopping trolly. Gave another small bag to the charity shop, decluttered 2 parcels at the inpost locker and then recluttered the trolly with 7 collected parcels for my neighbour, which I dropped off as soon as I got baby back indoorsI'm going to sort through all my packaging this afternoon and throw out any useless rubbish before decluttering a couple of nice cups of coffeeI'm then going to have a clean up in the art & crafts room as it's looking a little messy, to say the least~ NSD 2025 - NSD July 19/20 (6 x💯)# Spectos/Royal Mail Monitoring and Posting Panel - Ongoing~ Totally FREE Christmas 2025 - 🎁✉️🏷🎀💐🪪🗒🧺⭐️Completed Challenges 2025:# No.36 Make £2025 in 2025 £1634.34 / £2025 (58%) (3) 💯💯+# No.12 Save £2 a Day 2025 2025: £730/ £730 💯# No.27 Save 1p A Day 2025 £667.95 / £667.95 💯# No.19 52 Week Env Challenge £1378 / £1378 💯# No.34 Save £12k in 2025 £13,429.74 / £12,000 💯 - Continuing20

Hi, I am sorry to have been awol. We went down to Oxfordshire Tuesday night as Baby V had been sent home from nursery poorly. Mum and Dad both had big meetings at work yesterday so I got the pleasure of playing with the little chap all day. He doesn't see me often enough to know me and he was fab , no tears till the emotion of when Daddy came home. We came home late last night. I have of course decluttered my basket of knitting by leaving it there on top of a bookcase. Even worse I have left my cafetiere in the kitchen.
Understandable that you are fed up Florenceem, you have had constant stress for weeks, it's bound to catch up with you. I hope you have people who can support you.xx
Soontobeoap, fab photos, love the stair rods on the carpet.
weenancy here's my tenpenneth. I/ we don't want you to feel worse by sitting here in another country telling you what's wrong and right. We care, about you. Something you said made me think about Di's church. You need practical help not food parcels. Ask them to send a work party round to move the boxes into the garage. If Di actually needs a wheel chair It is a fire risk to have the hall restricted. For everyone else as well in fact. Di is selfish to expect you to take her out when she has just come home from hospital. If she wants to go out she needs to call a taxi. Tell her that you are not well and need to rest. End of sermon. Sorry, tough love. Btw if I had been asked for the survey my word would have been "insane".
Liverpool Anne, I think you got out of the baby visiting elegantly. My DIL is an anxious Mum, but not surprising with her history. Could the top box live in OH's house? I am thinking of things in the hall again. It has always been a bee in my bonnet to have fire exit access. I think it comes from when I was a young nurse and we had the most traumatic hospital fire evacuation training film on a regular basis.
Feel better soon Mrs SD. Lighter days are on the way. I was expecting to be a zombie yesterday as I didn't think I would sleep Tuesday night. I must have slept a bit as I was up and on duty at 6am. We were outside chalking and bike riding and swinging by 8am!!!!!!!! I slept like a log last night though. Left to my own devices I would naturally revert to being nocturnal like you.
Love to all Vx

- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Thursday: it is raining cats & dogs but at least the temperature is higher 8°C 🤞 Forgot mention that the recycling wheelie bin was being emptied just as I was going to bed 😉
Up very late & with no sign of DSis so DH decided to go shopping on his own in the car 🙂 I have my first cuppa & have decided that if the rain continues I will not be going to the Post Office today 😉
Blue_Doggy, a pity that you have had to declutter more money for storage but a lot more manageable if you only have 2 boxes to sort 😊 As to This “I then took back some books I’d bought by mistake (when I got lost in a big bookseller’s website and duplicated the order) to their branch in the same town as the storage place. They were all successfully refunded 🎉. But I then bought another two books 😔. There’s still half the refund left though 😀” what ARE we going to do with you 😂 Good luck unpacking & sorting through the boxes 🍀
Florenceem, sorry to hear that you still have no answers about MrF & have had to speak to yet another doctor 😔 Twelve days is a long time to be waiting for a diagnosis 😞 Also annoyed on your behalf that MrF appears to have been left to his own devices when it comes to meal times - bring back Matrons, I say. Hopefully today will be the day that a diagnosis is forthcoming 🙏
Good luck with the remortgage Muddy_Walker 🍀
Soontobeoap, having such a well presented & beautiful area of your home will undoubtedly spur you on to getting the rest of the decluttering & decorating done to match 😊🤞
suzeesu2000, how brilliant that you have been so successful with your decluttering & sales that your packaging stash is almost gone 🥳 Fingers crossed that there are many others who are decluttering their packaging stuff & you will find exactly what you need on your local free site 🤞
Lovely supportive post retiredinfrance ☺️
Great decluttering mhagster 👏 Good luck with the sort out of work clothes 🍀
Excellent digital decluttering QueenJess 👏
Dizzycap, This “Sometimes decluttering does get you down as you think you're getting nowhere, but there has to be decluttering chaos before you can put the needed things back in their rightful place. Once the charity items have left the building along with sold items and recycled / thrown out items for each room, it's then you realise just what a great job you've done with all the extra space and just how much cluttering junk you actually had” an encouraging & timely reminder of the benefits of decluttering ☺️💐
Good news oceanspirit 👏 although a bit of a shame that decluttering by breaking things is becoming more prevalent 😉
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 Good luck with the weekend’s planned munching of frogs 🍀 & hopefully DD1 will take most if not all the items you offer her 🤞 Lost delivery 😠
After a promising start to the cheerleading, my brain has frozen 😂 So I will post this & find something else to do for a while 😉 Hope everyone is having as good a day as possible 🤞 & that everyone is staying safe 🙏 DH arrived back so put all the shopping away 😊

Hello and thanks for my medal Mrs S_D 😁
I didn't have a chance to declutter anything yesterday but I made up for it by disposing of 10 things today. Nine pattern books to the church knit and natter group and a packet of pasta to their foodbank tray.
My sister in Ireland (west of Cork) has said that they have ben warned that they are going to experience winds like never before tonight (Tesco have cancelled all deliveries in her area tomorrow) and we usually get whatever weather they have the day after so be careful everyone and stay safe 😊20 -
@Soontobeoap I love the clock! I have a similar carpet, one of the best purchases I have ever made as the carpet looks so good.
61) another mug broken. I buy a new set of mugs…..one left😬
62) sugar found and used up
63) small decorative metallic plate for candles that looked worse for wear-recycling. I have no idea why I decided to keep it.
64) a yogurt that had taken up residence in the fridge and was almost paying rent-evicted and pot into recycling.
65) during general sort, I don’t know how or why, random foreign coins found. Three coins travelling the kitchen. Popped into charity collection point that takes them
66) soft plastics into supermarket recycling point.
67) item sold on V-dispatched
68)-70) plastic tubs x 3, recycling. One was def worse for wear!71) empty pet tub of powder that had just sat in the cupboard-recycling
72) cat flea treatments found and used. One very OOD-recycling
73) some manky serviettes found in the back of a cupboard-binned
74) another drinks lid (chewed by DD!)- into recycling
75) another drinks lid into the recycling, unchewed this time. We do a lot of sport so the matching up of drinks bottles with lids has been interesting but pleased that some have matched up so will be put back into use once the kitchen is done
75) tried to match a container lid with a tub, no luck so into recycling
76) another item sold on VDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
