My final post for this year.
My December numbers are:
dvd boxset
6 ood food items
cracked fish slice
xmas decs box
xmas tree lights
papers 30 shredded (counting as 3)
huge amount of polystyrene packaging from treadmill box
nail polish
xmas bauble to friend
uud 7 cleaning products
Items in:
bunny hot water bottle
bunny trinket pot
cushion
2 draught excluders (replacements)
mug
2 xmas tree decs
eyedrop dispenser
chair yoga book
coasters
bottle top opener
pair of socks
indoor mat
pack of small half price xmas cards
4 notebooks
The dishwasher has finally had enough so I need to get rid of the excess packs of salt and 2 bottles of rinse aid then the d/w itself can be collected by the Council. I'm not planning on selling anything or making money next year. Because I believe I have so few items to declutter I am initially aiming for 100 items gone.
I've re-counted cleaning products as I know I haven't been keeping track and I'm now down to 11 from 22 for the year. Also aiming for days out, films watched and books read but will just count as I go rather than put pressure on myself to aim for a specific number.
The house maintenance works are still outstanding and the Room of Doom and Pantry of Doom need to be blitzed. I've signed up to 26 in 2026 for the first time and looking forward to that.
Thank you to EVERYBODY connected with this thread for all the kindness and support you have shown me and everyone else during 2025. It makes all the difference to have people cheering you on when at times you feel like you're wading through treacle.
I've zipped up my wingsuit and put my crash helmet on. Once this train leaves the station it goes like a rocket!
Keep going into 2026 everybody

My husband went through another pile of paperwork. Kept most of it but it was ok. I then removed the personal details so we could chuck the rest in the recycling. Probably an inch on paper gone.I have started relining my kitchen curtains. I made them about 8 years ago and with pets, up to 7 cats and various dogs visiting they were looking very sad. I cleaned the front fabric with upholstery cleaner and then covered the existing lining with pink ticking. It looks so much better. I have hand stitched the lining on the first of four. I just need to machine across the tape at the top and that’s the first one done. They are interlined so they are lovely and warm. I also decluttered lots of cobwebs and dust from the curtain rail.My son said he needs a pillow for his daughter because she hasn’t got one. I said to take one off her bed at our house. He took it with the pillow case and protector. So thats three things out. We have loads of pillows. I have another six ready for another family member.18

Good to see everyone’s intentions for 2026, it’s helping me formulate what I would like to plan for/do..
It’s also perked me up a little, as currently awake (yet again) with a very sore body 😖 & have been since 2.45am..
Decluttered part of my HRT yesterday after a discussion with my nurse, thankfully she is lovely, listens and agreed that what is occurring (really horrible symptoms) means a change is in order.. That said, having looked at the (possible) side effects of the planned new offering I think I might just go into hibernation instead!
A genuine need to research natural alternatives is my goal over the next few weeks.. I will try what is being offered yet construct a back up plan to help/support my body more for the ongoing future.I have spent my whole life caring for others, I know that I owe that same care and compassion to myself & that needs to start from today!
Hubster is wonderful, when discussing what’s happening to me and possible options, etc, he hugs me and says “whatever you need”. The grace he has shown me over the last year has honestly restored my faith in so many things 😌 it feels good to be loved and heard!
Oops.. rambled on a bit there 🫣
Anyhoo..
My main goals for the upcoming year are to declutter what no longer serves me (mentally/physically/spirtiually).
To re-home items (by selling/donating, etc) that can be better used elsewhere.
To recycle/repurpose things where possible.. ☺️
I have added Greek yogurt & fruit compote with delicate shortbread fingers (to dip in) to the TLC carriage along with some tasty ginger beer, a yummy offering to relax & see the new year in with.. 😉 🎉
Hoping that 2026 can be a kinder/calmer year for everyone, it seems that in many ways 2025 was frantic and difficult for so many, including myself!💗 See you all on the new thread.. 💗"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Tuesday was bright & sunny with clear blue skies with a forecast high of 7°C, a low of 2°C & a 7mph NNE wind. Looking ahead it would seem that today will be our last warmish day for the next 9 days 🥶 I was up later today but still in the morning (11:20) but missed seeing DH before he left. Wisely he has taken the car & has driven down to Kent. On Boxing Day DH had promised to help make our 7yo great, great nephew’s bicycle rideable 😉 but there were no suitable tools. Niece S & her DD had also requested a copy of the cheese savouries recipe as the 7yo really liked them. So I wrote a couple of copies & DH will be delivering them as well. I have finally put away the laundry I did & have stripped the bed. Left the mattress to air before putting on the new bedding & pillows
DH got home 17:35. He had good journeys both ways & managed to sort the bicycle out. Dinner was Chinese. Wudupa. I was intending to catch up with the cheerleading but had issue getting onto to MSE so have fallen even further behind 😢

weenancy, sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas get together 🥹 Secret Santa is such a great way to give Christmas presents ☺️ DH’s DSis & that branch of the family adopted Secret Santa many years ago with the ‘tweak’ of each person providing a short list of desired gifts ☺️ Great work on your continuing decluttering of books 👏 Hopefully you are beginning to notice a difference 🤞Your grandniece sounds like she is going to be a musical theatre star ☺️ Broadway calling 🤞 Interesting information about American Football 🧐 I hope your roommates finally pitch in & help with the cleaning as it would be a rather delightful late Christmas present 🙏 Although it is probably pie in the sky ☹️
surprisinglynice, what a lovely idea for fundraising for such a worthy cause 🥹 Fingers crossed that it isn’t too expensive to re stock your “baking store cupboard as it was severely depleted after Granddaughters bake-a-thon.” Good luck sorting out the “cupboard of doom” 🍀
Good decluttering oceanspirit 👏 25 years service from a pair of shoes 🤩
Good luck with your electronic decluttering DundeeDoll 🍀 You have made a great start 👏
London_1, little Daisy sounds absolutely delightful ☺️ I am so pleased you got to meet her in person 😊 More excellent decluttering & very good of you & Ben to help the dustmen out by taking so much to the Tip 👏
Sleep tight 😴

I have matched up my tubs and lids this morning and dispatched the oddlings.
Going for a walk with a friend later, we have managed to do this weekly for at least 40 of the last 52 weeks (such a simple thing but we spent a long rime just catching up when we had five minutes) It's currently -3 in my garden so will be wrapping up well!
Washing clothes/bedding like it's going out of fashion as no washing tomorrow (superstition runs deep!).
Have a lovely day all

Happy New Year fellow declutterers.
Some paper into recycling, shampoo and shower gel bottles uu and recycled and a few other things binned. Christmas food almost uu and only a few storecupboard items coming home.
My round up for 2025:-
Generally a maintenance year and good habits learned over the years mean that when things in a certain area start to build up, I get focussed on them before they get out of control.
Finally used up the ood food and have a system in place to prevent things going ood in the first place. I need to improve access to the tinned food store but that will need a complete rearrange of the kitchen. Other things have a higher priority this year so it will have to wait.
I love being able to walk around my bed without falling over things. There are still a couple of items in one corner that need sorting out and I have too many things on top of my cod.
All in all a successful decluttering year and I am looking forward to getting stuck in to the last couple of areas during 2026.
A big thank you to Mrs SD for running the thread and to all of you for making this thread a supportive, friendly place. See you all over on the 2026 thread.17 -
My washer is on too as I had a night like @MadamMim2013 not helped by a cat wanting more than her share of my bed!
Decluttered a hospital appointment yesterday evening, for something benign rather than sinister thank goodness.
I also finished off the mushroom vol-au-vents, as the filling had made the pastry soggy so they weren't fit for the TLC carriage. I have however left a large dish of tiramisu with brandy and a smaller one without - please don't spill any on the upholstery!

Well last post of 2025, and I shall be doing my New Years Eve cleaning today , my late Mum was always insistent that the house be clean for the New Year to arrive . She was a Glaswegian and a bit of a cleaning nut as well ,bless her

I suppose it's where I get be slight obcession with a messy place:)
I am (my DD is convinced ) a bit OCD when it comes to tidiness. But then I have lived on my own for 22 years after I lost my OH so just got used to tidying up. But we get along ok living in the same house and never fallout
So much stuff decluttered this year, it seems to be never ending but even though until I moved last year, I thought I had done enough, yet its amazing what you can live without and not miss.
It's pretty satisfying decluttering really, as suddenly your living accomodation takes on a different look. I am going to go through my scarf collection at some point as for some reason I seem to have an awful lot of scarves and I think a good few I never wear. Well I have two hangerfuls of floaty ones that I know of in my wardrobe, so they will go on my to-do list.Probably half will go in the CS bag
I have a pair of lists that I do once a week, a to-do one, and a been-done one
and that too is quite satifying as it means that I can keep up to date with things.
Ive just crossed off my list the re-odering of my meds from the Drs, as with luck they should be ready to collect from the on-site Boots at the surgery by next Monday when I have to go there for a blood test, saves two trips
Thanks to all of you who put up with my witterings over the year and the superb Mrs SD for giving us all a boost during the year
I hope everyone has a Happy, healthy and peaceful New Year, and we carry on decluttering and recycling as much as we can.
Land-fill to the tip as the last resort
Onwards and upwards chums into 2026 an ongoing task

Just off in my lunch hour to drop off cs bag, textiles to h&m and 4 items to be returned ( counting the latter)
6 more items to textile
8 cups and saucers
Large Cardboard box out ( previously would have kept)
Other packaging
Over 500 emails out and some filed which was time consuming so counting as 10
So got there 2025 and probably had more textiles to counteract the returns.
First time in the years I've reached my target since I've been along for the journey
Every year has been great and more important than getting to the target has been doing something and being part of this fab family.
Another big shout out and huge thank you to Mrs SD.17
