2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Sending love to @StickyTheStickInsect and family.
Since Christmas LO has announced she has far too many clothes and @mummy why don’t I just stop buying things ? 😂
yes I think she’s hit the nail on the head there!! a couple of months ago she announced that apart from Dads stuff we don’t have much in the house left to declutter, so I will take the rough with the smooth!
Despite being mostly absent from the thread it’s not been a bad year for decluttering, and LO has started making her own videos UTube style which is quite hilarious. (We don’t upload anything but she’s definitely got the knack) !A few more bits and bobs will go this week as we assess what came in at Christmas, although Santa kindly bought theatre tickets and annual zoo pass which we will enjoy as a family! All the best to everyone on the thread and well done for all the “wins” throughout the year!8 -

Mrs SD - I like the idea of redistribution for 2026 but didn't have much luck with left over food so fridge and both freezers still stuffed. I have made up and frozen several individual meals. I really shouldn't need to buy food in January. DS1 came over with his family and stayed overnight. Christmas gifts exchanged so more have gone. First time I have really entertained large group here so had to hunt for dishes and couldn't find some things I know I still have. DS1 bought me some new pyrex dishes which are a better size and depth than those I have. I will sort some others out for the CS bag. DGS4 and DGD4 are here and I will take them to their mother's at lunchtime. I don't usually do the driving (25 miles) but make an exception at Christmas (too complicated to explain). They are very happy with their presents and back Tuesday for the rest of the week. They know we are going back to my brother's in Portugal at Easter so need to get plane tickets. I have until 1 March to pay off my Madeira holiday in May but more than half way.
I have some frogs to do this week once I work up the energy. Finishing touches to do for bedroom 2 then I'll start on bedroom 3 and some more of the garden (if it doesn't snow).

Mrs SD, love the idea of redistribution !
And decluttering your planner of programmes is definitely the right spirit. I've been decluttering episodes of my dramas.
Will be thinking of my goals for 2026 and looking forward to joining the decluttering family again!6 -
Hi,
Mr V had technical problems at work last night so he has spent the morning identifying that and taking the faulty item to the tip. sadly he says he will need to replace it. Rolls eyes. lol.
I have entertained myself by putting stuff away in the bedroom. This resulted in re uniting a pair of socks yay! and putting like with like in drawers. A sizable bag of stuff for the chazzer and stuff to offer other people. I brought every one of these things with me to this house is October. I suppose I just wasn't ready to release them at the time.
pair of headphones
fit bit, box, chargers
unworn necklace
2 pairs unworn earrings
malachite ring
glasses cleaning kit
pair of shoes that are still painful every time I try to wear them
nightdress bnwt
new thermal long johns
toiletry item
I look forward to going through my wardrobe next year, always good for finding treasure to pass on. There will be plenty of treasures to unearth when I rationalise the kitchen too.
Stuff has come in. Champagne flutes (second hand) Those that have known me for years will remember I sent almost all my glasses to the charity shop as I thought I wouldn't need them again. Well it turns out I missed hosting people.
Some fairy lights in the sale and 2 diffusers, in the sale. 3 new bras.
A lovely time was had with my lovely step son and co yesterday. he did us a good turn by helping Mr V move a concrete bench further up the drive to enable more cars to park on the drive. It was still in the place where it came off the removal van.
Tomorrow we are venturing South to see my son and family. I will off load the last of the Christmas chocolate there. I will be regifting some food presents to my Mum. She loves all that Christmas cake, pudding, mince pies. Too rich for me.
Take care all Vx

Tip run completed, DGS Ben decluttered the wok with the broken handle (we did have three ) so it wasn't needed. Also from my car an umbrella that been broken for over a year and I kept meaning to declutter and always forgot as it was tucked down the back of my driving seat in the pocket.
He is now on his way back to London with lots of bits from the fridge to save him going to the shops today, they have gone to a good home and will be eaten up. Plus a stash of childrens books for his year five classroom bookshelf as the local LEA say they can't afford reading books for the children
I usually finds some in CS here and get them and save them for him So he's quite happy to take them for the children.
We ended up with 6 black bags altogether to the tip as I had a bit of a root around for cardboard boxes and stuff from the cupboard under the stairs .
DGS and family have been decluttered onto a plane to New York by my eldest DD, she's feeling a bit low now so I gave her a ring. I cheered her up though as she thought for some reason it was 13 weeks until they go over to see them but I did a count up on the calender and its 9 weeks this wednesday so she felt a birt better after that
Looking forward to the coming year and tomorrow I have a few books I can bag up to take to the CS in Ryde I've been reading quite a bit so once read they can go on to be further enjoyed by someone else
Still pretty nippy but dry at least
Cheers chums

I actually read that as retribution and not redistribution
. Well, DH has been shopping and spent less than normal but has come back with sausages and chicken that were on offer. These have been separated and are now in the freezer for the next few weeks. Still a tonne of Christmas food left. Decs are still up until 5/6th Jan. I don't have any to declutter as I did this last year and am left with the ones that I actually want. Our usual meat serving platter had to be thrown away as it had gotten rusty from when DD had an accident with the tap in September. We're still finding water and damage in random places over 3 months on!! The platter was only £1 for the poundshop nearly 30 years ago, so can't complain too much. We just had to make do with the smaller ceramic one my Step mother gave me years ago.
Two things sold on ebay over the weekend, which have been packed and posted. Also, I too have a tonne of emails every day that I get, anywhere from 100-300!! As I enter comps, the companies want you to subscribe. And what with the survey sites I belong to it does get a little overwhelming sometimes. so this needs to be looked at.
Just bought a towelling dressing gown from ebay with my ebay balance. My old one is very threadbare and full of holes and straggly strings. I've tried to mend it but it's ready for the bin

Hi all, I have just signed up for 2026 but will continue to post here until the end of the year, not that I will make my target but anything is better than nothing 😂.
Spent Christmas day with OH's Dsis and some of the family. She sent us home with leftovers which fed me until yesterday 😂 and OH still has some turkey to deal with. OH broke out in a cold on Christmas day which I have also caught 🙄. I spent boxing day pottering and putting away my presents etc while OH went back for family Christmas part 2. On Saturday I went to the footy and OH spent the day in bed poorly. Yesterday I had to go to the chemist for essentials supplies as we were both suffering a bit and had run out of tissues and paracetamol and today OH has had a test, pupil passed thank goodness, while I stayed in bed 😂.
Some very minor decluttering done but nowhere near enough 😁. OH is sitting surrounded by unsorted presents but is currently asleep on the couch and I have retreated to bed with a hot drink and drugs😂.
Tomorrow we are supposed to be going to a tea party for a one year old birthday but if we don't improve we will cancel and just drop off the presents.
I have caught up with all the posts but retained very little in my drug addled brain 😂
@regnbue love the snowman candle 😁 long may he grace the christmas period. I used to have a thing for shaped soaps that my dmum bought me and kept them on display in a glass jar in the bathroom for years, just couldn't bring myself to use them, but one day I just said it is time for them to go and they have now been used up but I still remember them fondly 😁
@Floss as others have said good job nobody was hurt but a shame about the missed starter 😲
@StickyTheStickInsect so sorry to hear about your Mum. It is no wonder you haven't had time for other things, take care of yourself and the jobs will be done when you have the energy, big hugs
Sorry I fell asleep mid post so will just say numbers now up to 1755 and post before I drop off again
Hugs to everyone who would like one
Take care everyone
