Sunday started bright & sunny but with a noticeable drop in temperature from yesterday - high 8°C, low 4°C DH filled the bird feeders & has just ordered a little present for my DSis. I have finished knitting the scarf & the picture shows it with the complementary hat.

Just starting a new hat. Rest of the day spent much as yesterday - knitting, napping & TV. Dinner was chicken pieces fried in a little oil, boiled potatoes & peas. Wudupa. DSis & I watched the SCD Results show & got the impression that the person who left was relieved 😉
2215 - 2216 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
2217 Kitchen detritus - binned
Lovely to see you vulpix ☺️ So pleased to hear that you had a lovely time 😊 Although it only seems like yesterday that you went away 😞 You have certainly been busy since you got back with some excellent decluttering 👏 Loved This “I bet your parcel guy will deliver your parcels with care from now on Mrs SD” ❤️ Good luck with your continued unpacking 🍀
Brie, This “And how lovely of you to have offered him something that you had made. You saw him as a person which can be a rare thing these days.” is such a lovely thing to say ☺️ And I really enjoyed your story 😊 it costs nothing to be polite & kind 🥹
Some good decluttering purplevamp especially as you are also earning a little cash 👏 Shame about having to take your house off the market but hopefully once Christmas is over the market will pick up 🤞
Green_hopeful, the ‘man logic’ was rather amusing 🙊 but nice to hear that he is trying to do his bit for the planet 😊 Wow, that is impressive - 11 years wear for a pair of flip flops 🤩 Lovely looking cat 😻 very regal 😊
Soontobeoap, excellent decluttering of crafting materials 👏 Fingers crossed that you find the handmade cards quickly 🤞
Lovely post Moorviews 🥹 Thanks for This “That delivery driver will remember you forever for your generosity too.” 😊 I was thinking that it will probably be a well travelled hat 😉
Nice to see you mehefin 👋 I have been following you on the Daily Threads 🙂 Excellent decluttering 👏
Happy_Kitties, pleased to hear that you are enjoying your new kitchen 😊 Fingers crossed that you can fit in a Tip run tomorrow 🤞
Just spotted the time so I am off to bed. Sleep tight everyone 😴

Morning chums, you will have noted I didn't add good to my greeting as its been bucketing down here and very windy.
I've just checked the next two week forecast and it looks like we will need flippers as its rain for the foreseeable for at least a week if not longer
We had DGS Jack down for the weekend, and bless him kept him fairly busy .
He went with his Mum to her Christmas wreath making craft class at Wooton on Saturday, and they both made nice ones and he took his back to Kent with him when he went home yesterday. Her one is on our front door and looks pretty good, she had forages for stuff from Firestone Copse near Quarr on the island so the cost to make was very minimal
She's really enjoying her crafting, and every week goes hunting for sea glass on Bembridge beach. She's done some lovely Christmas cards and pictures as small Chrismas gifts.
I've been busy decluttering bits of old Christmas decorations that were in a bag in the loft, and some had really got past saving. DGS Jack put my little tree up in my sitting room, and the big one up in the big sitting room and he worked hard on Saturday and went swimming with his Mum yesterday morning to relax
All the decorations are up, and I've even received my first Christmas card from my nephew who lives in Monaco where he is the vicar of the English church there. His is always the first one to arrive.
I've decluttered my library books and some paperbacks to the Age Concern CS over the weekend. I'm not getting any more library books until I have got my stash of unread ones lowered a bit
As the weather is changing I shall be starting my jigsaws shortly and I have 31 collected over the summer from Cs and boot sales which I will get through as I don't tend to venture out when its raining or chilly.
A cup of tea ,the wireless and my jigsaw and I'm a happy old lass on cold wet and windy afternoons
Once Ive done around 10 of them I pass them onto DGS Jack who donates them to his school rec room (He works and lives on site at a boarding school in Kent teaching.
Its in the middle of nowhere and unless the boarders are going out somewhere special they do spend a good bit of time on site, my jigsaws do get redone there, then Jack will take them in the spring into Tonbridge to a CS there.
The children at the boarding school are around 9-18 and they all seem to enjoy doing them, they get decluttered from me to Kent
I share them and Jack will do one in the evening if he's around and when he's on evening duty in the rec room he will sometimes help the younger ones if they get stuck.
Right time to get the kettle on I'm hoping the rain will ease off a little as I am due to go to Newport this afternoon after lunchfor a regular U3A games afternoon I play Cribbage with others there .
I know there are some road works on the main road, so I'll have a walk to the bus stop and see if there are diversions for the buses, if so, I'll drive in, or if its not too far I'll catch the bus into Ryde then another one from Ryde to Newport the bus service is pretty good. I like to use my bus pass if I can, and save the car for longer trips
Keep warm and dry chums

Hello all. Horrid and wet today. We went to Lincoln yesterday (me and DS2 and family) as I had got tickets for the lights walk at the castle. We were lucky with the weather although starting to get chilly as we left. Wandered round, did a little shopping, got a decent meal and drinks for a reasonable price and finished off with the walk round castle walls. We parked at the top near the castle so I walked up and down that steep hill. Beautiful city about 22 miles from my home. I have mostly packed for my holiday. I got some inexpensive short boots at M&S as I struggle to get my full length ones on and off.
I've mostly been doing digital stuff but it does declutter the mind. I've ordered a dressing table for bedroom 2 and asked joiner to come back as door hinge has come loose. It may have to wait until I come back from holiday. I will get him to quote for three more doors - hallway, toilet and bathroom. After that I will just having living room and hall cupboard door to do. Bathroom door needs turning round ready for new layout when I eventually get to doing the bathroom. Will need to move light pull but think DS2 could do that (he is qualified) No plans until after CHristmas.
1167 Hotel and parking booked for DS2 - I had promised that for their end of January holiday
1168 All overseas Christmas cards written and stamped. Will post tomorrow.
1169 Only three other cards for December - all written but realised one was overseas so will post that when I do school run.
1170 More Christmas things purchased and wrapped
1171 Lots of Family history screenshots renamed and filed correctly
1172 All emails, read, answered, deleted, saved etc - this time I unsubscribed from lots as I went along.
1173 Meeting information sent out for tomorrow
1174 Lots of App updates done - I always forget
1175 Monthly banking done- an expensive one
Jigsaw remains less than half done. I think I will end up getting rid of it. . It feels like a chore.

I didn't know that. I guess if people feel cramped at Christmas they may look for a bigger house "for next Christmas"Green_hopeful said:@purplevamp Boxing Day is a traditional day for people to look for houses on Rightmove. You could get your new agent to post it on Boxing Day.

Monday is very damp & breezy making it feel 7° colder than it is - high of 12°C, low 7°C Rained early a.m. & whilst not raining at 15:30 the air is damp ☹️ After a lot of toing & froing, the refund from my dentist has finally reached my account 🥳 DH has had a bowl of the soup he made over the weekend & whilst ‘uninspiring’ it is hearty & wholesome - his words 🙂 DH popped out in the car for a small sm shop. The drizzle started at 17:00. Whilst I remember, thank you for DH’s birthday wishes 😊 Now for a little cheerleading
vulpix, shortening curtains & cuddling Fomo sounds like a peaceful & productive way to spend a Sunday ☺️ Shame about the football result, hope MrV wasn’t too upset 😢 I rather like the front garden 😉 after all Fomo can pretend to be a jungle cat 🙊 Thanks for the mention of glass chopping boards 👏 I do hope you were very, very careful moving the bookcase 🙏
purplevamp, hopefully a new year will see a positive result when it comes to selling your house 🤞
Muddy_Walker, sounds like the bedroom is coming along nicely 😊 As to This “And also several pairs of shoes that I just don’t wear. Hubby then informed me I have to take the shoes to the recycling place….” I didn’t realise either as I have just been putting old shoes in the HH waste bin 😬 Oh well at least I know now. Excellent decluttering of old cards & ood meds👏
Thanks daisy_1571, I have been following that thread as it is rather interesting 😊
I have caught up a little but my brain is currently rebelling & just wants me to knit 😂 I hope everyone is having as good a day as possible despite the miserable weather 🤞See you later 👋

Lovely knitting as always Mrs SD.
Today I have achieved some of my list. Been to the Drs,given the chimney breast another coat of emulsion, emptied about 6 moving boxes into the kitchen cupboards. Kitchen cupboard organisation is a job for another day. Tidied the dining room but more to do.
We went food shopping and to B&Q for a scraper to finish the dining table surface. The old varnish has gone sticky.
We also collected some free polystyrene boxes from a pet shop. I am going to fashion some cat beds for in the porch. I can't leave a house door ajar any more. We have an admirer who is trying to move in with us. A little black and white girl cat with a pink nose. I keep finding her sleeping in the house. Our cats don't seem at all bothered. I would have thought Fluffy would have had stern words but no.
I won't have time for house jobs tomorrow, we are off Christmas shopping in Nottingham then out for a meal with Mr V's old band mates.
The quote to replace all the blown double glazing, improve the fit of the front door and reseal a window is very reasonable so the guy is coming again next Monday to measure 2 more windows that I have noticed are going misty.
I also have a couple of guys coming to clear the front garden next week. It has to go, the window cleaner asked if we were cutting it back,It will be so light with replaced glass and no trees tapping at the window.
Oh, the bathroom fitter came, should be the end of April or start of May. He is going to do the cloakroom too. The cloakroom is by far the most awful room in the house.
I just need to get the plumber lined up to move the radiator in the sitting room then that is it with jobs for a little while. The shed base will happen soon, weather depending.
I have written Christmas cards for the people we are seeing tomorrow. Very MSE stamp saving.
Take care all Vx:14
