2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Happy belated birthday wishes @Mrs_Salad_Dodger - hope Mr SD gets the bike sorted without having to declutter too much money in the process! Oh and thank you for the medal, I will wear it with pride!
The kittens are adorable @charlies_tribe but agree with others that they look like they will be big mischief makers in the not too distant future!
DH managed to finish decorating the hallway / landing this weekend, apart from one tiny bit of coving that he forgot about! It's looking pretty good but will look even better when we eventually get round to replacing the carpet. While he was doing that, I got through all the washing (and put it away!), decluttered and organised 3 more cupboards in the kitchen and cleaned the bathroom (and mostly organised the airing cupboard). Still so much more to do but hoping to chip away at the room of doom (aka DH's office / guest room) this week and into the weekend to get it sorted finally. Might even do the final kitchen cupboard tonight but that depends on what time I get home from work. Will also need to make a trip to the big Swedish shop at the weekend to pick up a couple of things that we need, mainly photoframes I think.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201714 -
Apologies, I still have posts to read but I am living in the middle of a building site, the old kitchen was ripped out today. I am horrified to see just what a cowboy job the electrician did when the old now gone kitchen was put in and then things just tiled over. It has always frustrated me how wonky the sockets were. Everything about the old kitchen was just awful.
Fortunately with this new kitchen the electrics are being redone.Green bin full, fortunately due to be picked up this week and I have a boot full of stuff-either washing, stuff for CS, more batteries to be recycledI must of decluttered a conservative 30 items, things like hoover parts, the washing basket which had split in 2, i found old cuddles of DDs that couldn’t be saved for the CS, various bits and pieces went out-either binned or recycled.

Hello everybody
I am back from Japan and have now caught up on 30 pages of decluttering news. Some impressive work going on here which is truly inspiring. Hugs to anyone who is in need of one (or more)
Japan is the most amazing destination. Full of culture and history but really the people are what make it so special. Hardworking, polite, kind and welcoming which made it a delight to visit. I still can't get over how much bowing goes on, a bit disconcerting until you get used to it, and of course they love it if you speak even a little bit of Japanese.
I have brought back an awful lot of "ins" (oops) but also decluttered items whilst I was there - I had to - half of my case was souvenirs
Will post some pix from my Japan trip in case anyone is interested.

Mount Fuji had cloud cover for 3 days but on the day we left we got very lucky and the sun was in the right place to illuminate all the different colours.

We had a dance performance by a maiko (trainee geisha) in Kyoto. Her outfit was 7 metres long and was so long it would wrap around her feet while she danced. We had a chat with her through our interpreter. She had left school and her family home to live in a home where she was paid an allowance by the "Mother" of the house whilst she spent all day learning the etiquette and standards for being a trainee geisha. This training would last until she was 20 when she would become a geisha. She had chosen this life and said she was happy. She was 15.

Golden Pavilion. This building is coated in gold leaf from nearby Kanazawa which is famed for putting gold leaf on everything including ice cream - hoping this doesn't trigger @Brie and the infamous dog/tinsel episode.
