TC, that's great news that your brother notices a difference in your house.
Carpets, sofas and rug cleaned. Who knew the carpets were this colour! They have come up well. They will be replaced eventually but for now they are perfectly serviceable. Someone at craft club said Oh I couldn't live with someone else's carpets! Absolutely no point in replacing them now, with rewire imminent and then removal of fire and walls knocked down etc. The previous owner of this house bought quality things but just never looked after them. My Mum and Dad were brought up poor and instilled looking after things into me. As an aside my Mum told me recently that she didn't live in a house with electric light until 1956. They had gas lamps. The cottage where she lived is in a very desirable tourist spot. I believe one of the most instagrammed photo's in Britain.
Today's jobs will be putting the small furniture back in the bedrooms and a tidy round before LCL (lovely cleaning lady) comes. I need to go to my nearest bank branch which is about 15 miles away. Whilst in town I need to buy varnish and black paint for upcoming furniture projects.
Still not cleaned the oven for the 3rd time. Probably the 3rd time of not doing it and the 3rd time of cleaning it. The roof of it is still thick with yuckiness. Neither have I painted the garden chairs.
Tomorrow there will be no rushing about so I will be able to look for our passports.
If you see a bloke driving about in a removal van wearing a blue fluffy dressing gown, it's mine!

Firstly, I’ve not been on this thread for ages so am apologising now for not reading the thousands of post before this. However, give yourself a pat on the back to everyone for a job well done and no doubt the encouragement to keep going when you were having a low day kept you going.
What’s brought me back? To be honest my daughter has returned from uni and we now have numerous duplicates of stuff and i am refusing to just stuff them in a cupboard to sort on another day. They then stay put with the other clutter for years as out of sight is out of mind!
I also have lots of bits that i accumulated for Christmas fairs that need to go.
The main goal is that i am now full time carer for mum so as i need to be flexible, i cant work set hours so toying with the idea of setting up for myself. Not sure what yet but i do already love reselling/craft as a side hustle so might expand this so need the new clutter free zones for storage. Quite hard in a small house!
So going to hit November with these goals…
1. 300 items sorted/gone
2. find out more about pro seller on Vinted
3. have a car boot to get rid of duplicates/ christmas fairs surplus
Don’t put it down - put it away!

At last I have caught up! Life jumped in annoyingly and foiled all plans to keep decluttering. However I now have less than 2 weeks to get main bedroom sorted with everything as I have ordered a new chest of drawers, new bedside tables and a new bedframe. The ones we have right now have been hand me downs or very cheap and stood the test of time for over 25 years.
The garden is still winning weedwise but as the cold weather is creeping in the weeds are slowing down.
if you remember I had a Christmas cake recipe dilemma……but discovered a Zero Waste shop in my town and they were selling cake kits with the exact amount of ingredients needed so I went with Delias recipe. It was soaked in alcohol for over a week and then baked Monday. I would like to say how incredible it is…..but it is well and truly burnt all round the edges so I will be cutting those bits off and feeding it with more alcohol. Really hoping that works as I don’t want to have to redo the process! Not giving up though…. But the air was very blue 😜
Big hugs to those with losses and I hope your mojo finds its way back MrsSD xxxx
Vulpix I kind of guessed your new house would need a deep clean when the seller wanted extra time to pack. I am furious on your behalf! How rude to leave it in that state 🤬 I do like the window seat though even with the unbalanced vent….
take care everyone and hopefully I’ll be able to keep up! Xxx⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

All the glass ware taken to the charity shops plus a large glass vase.
But what are some people like? I know they have the right to say "no, we can't sell that" or whatever but at least be gracious about it. OH took in the second box of glasses and was bluntly told "that's too much, we're too full!!" No attempt to redirect us to another shop (of which there are many). Went to a second place and I was told "we don't take donations after 3". It was 3:10! Again nothing polite in her comment and no attempt to refer me to the place that was literally right next door.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @floss , great idea, I will move this evening.
Work in office day so on way home but this morning got a 4 drawer ( smallish) out of shed and out. Given to me by someone I no longer have contact with and don't need a reminder and things ( electric and other sorts of tapes and potentially useful bits) will fit in one of my modest storage box/ shoe box ( when things are sorted will cull these more).
@vulpix in awe of all you do and how you're making the new home yours.

Been a quiet couple of days. The wonderful CS peeps are coming tomorrow to collect a HUGE pile of stuff.DH had a moan about the cupboard this morning so, whilst doing usual morning chores, I cleared a shelf, moved the cramped cat food he was moaning about - said it was too cramped up and he couldn’t get to it properly. Sorted some glassware which is all, bar 3 glasses, added to the pile to go.
Also sorted through Frankie’s food and sweeties, found loads of Lik-e-Lix which can go in with neighbours cats Christmas presents. Frankie is not a fan of Lik-e-Lix, he is an odd little chap. I spent some time this evening chasing, I mean hobbling after, the little monkey and retrieving the plastic he had taken out of the bin and was chewing, he thought that was a GREAT game.
DH has joined in the decluttering! He has tons of novels that will be going, record player to go and loads of other stuff. We shall be working through that over the next couple of weeks. Trouble is, when you’re as disabled as we poor old crocks are, nothing happens quickly. Still, as I’ve said before, slow and steady wins the race.
Have a great evening all, take care of your fur babies with the sky bangs tonight, poor things. Oh for silent fireworks and peace to our furry ones and wildlife.

Small set of shelves given away. soft plastics to supermarket.
I have offered my spare dining table to my new friend at craft club. She is going to come and look at it. I think it may be too big. I need to find the screws to fix the legs on. I "think" I know where they are.
I have done a foolish thing. The curtains at the front door were too long. I lengthened them from the top for the last house. I have started to take the extension off. Why can't I just leave well alone.
A surprise job was sanding down the new to me dining table. It felt sticky. Washing didn't cure it but an hour with wire wool has helped. Probably needs another hour to fix it.Soooo, we got half way to the bank when Mr V realised he didn’t have my bank card. He had got cash for the carpet guy yesterday. We went back home and it was nowhere to be found. Eventually went to the bank and new card ordered. Could be up to 10 days as they are trying out a new courier.Came home and LCL had cleaned the oven!!!! she was amazed that the dining room was clear, it was chocka last week.
TC, I don't work so I have plenty of time to plan everything and do stuff. keeps my brain active. I would not achieve a fraction of what I do if Mr V wasn't as helpful. My physical activity is limited to mainly sitting down jobs but Mr V is much more able.
Brie, I know what you mean about surly charity shop staff. I complained to the manager about one person and never support another charity now because I was spoken to so rudely when trying to donate something.
Fireworks seem to have come to an end now. Who actually has money to burn these days?
