Happy Birthday Salad sister.x
We had a day off yesterday and a Chinese take away.
The builder came, with his notebook. He is crazy busy, as always but will make a cat flap hole in the porch wall and lay a shed base before Christmas. We might be able to empty the dining room once we have sheds. Our bigger jobs are in his queue.
DD1 has just messaged to say she is up for some jobs today and she is bringing another car load of garden pots which have been living at hers. I was awake in the night thinking of what jobs I would like to achieve today so an extra pair of hands will be very helpful. Now we have extra muscle I want to unearth a built in desk in the dining room and dismantle it so that a chest of drawers that Mr V has renovated, currently in the hall, can go in the alcove. I have bought a little oak cupboard for £30. I would like to transfer the telly onto it. Telly currently on the old sewing machine table. The oak cupboard can house my craft things then I can declutter a massive green Amazon storage bag. It's like jenga. It takes a lot of planning.
Pics of bench. Elephant in the middle, vent not! Part of the dining room showing the hidden desk.

Made apple and quince crumble with Nigel Slaters almond crumble topping yesterday. Quince are a couple of years in the freezer. Apples were frozen this year. My two year old grandson decided it tasted of strawberries. The quince is lovely and fragrant. His 4 year old sister decided custard tastes like ice cream. It was cute that she hadn’t tried custard.Decluttered quite a bit of money with the vet. My poor cat has her third cancer operation. She has breast cancer. I didn’t even know cats could get breast cancer. Hopefully it will be the last op as she has no boobs left or skin to stitch up. She has a donut collar to stop her licking the wound.

@vulpix you didn't mention the sleepy kitten on the sofa - so lovely!!
@Green_hopeful and your gray panther is lovely too, such a sweet face nicely framed in her daisy! Hope she feels better soon.
Meanwhile - I've tidied the art desk, tried the riser feet and settled on the 1 inch version. I've kept the 2 inch cutoff because, well obviously they will be useful, somewhere, some time..... I can't go to the art group holiday lunch mid December so my award winning easter eggs have been unboxed and placed in the glass cabinet beside me here so I can admire them from time to time. Other art stuff has been binned, a few bad paintings, the painted cards I made last year but didn't send because they weren't good enough and 2 pads of art paper put in my small carrier bag to go to the next art group meeting as someone else will be able to use them.
Still looking for a way to clean up my 2 recorders so I can take some pictures or paint them or something prior to gifting them to a local music group. I would wash them but being wood I worry that might cause them to split - even if several winters in a damp garage hasn't harmed them much. Discovered that the tenor has a loose pad for the lowest hole and the spring on the extension to reach that hole has lost it's springiness so I'm not sure how useable it will be. But that will end up being someone else's problem in a few weeks I guess.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. That corner looks delightful, and the elephant is obviously very comfortable!vulpix said:

You could buy a wider vent cover that is big enough to cover the airhole and original screwholes when it is fitted centrally on the bench. Plenty available for under £10 - just Google for "air vent cover uk" and scroll through the images. Maybe put it on your Christmas wish list?

I love what you have done so far @vulpix. I have always fancied a window bench but my windows are too low for it not to show outside. If it was me and knowing how good MrV is at renovating furniture. I would rub it down and paint it all white or maybe a heritage colour if you like darker things. The vent would be less obvious .craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 132 made and 5 mended,

Green hopeful, I hope your lovely cat is better soon. Xx
With the vent, I have taken it off. The hole looks better. I will try to cut a piece of wood to fill it. I have put my sewing machine inside the seat.
Accomplishments today. Put my craft stuff in the tv cupboard. Moved the tv onto the cupboard. Mr V took the very well made desk out and did a tip run. I cleaned up and we put the renovated drawers in the alcove. We heaved a lot of stuff about in the dining room and made space to put the big rug down. Dd1 and I put the legs on the table. Some things taken to their place in other rooms. I have a lot of pottering to do tonight whilst Mr V is at work. Lots and lots of things need a home finding. I must say I used a lamp hole minimiser thingy to put up a new light shade. It has been in my tool box about 35 years. Here’s a picture just for Brie. Struggled to find a n awake pic!Vx

Beautiful photos today, thank you for posting them.Dinner from freezer both.
This morning I wrapped a Vinted sale & sent QR to DFriend.
Packed a box to go to mum and organised collection for Monday.
Listed 2 disability bathing items on local site, free to collector, just want rid.
Listed craft item for sale on eBay.
Did some housekeeping on laptop.
Put bin out for dustybinmen collection in the morning.
Went under bed again. 2 crates emptied of fabric, decorative China trinket pots and lamps. All for CS.
Tomorrow I hope to start moving things from big bins to under bed, will also declutter as I go.Been quite a productive day all in all. I’ve enjoyed it.
Started off bright and sunny, ended overcast and raining. Not moaning about rain, we need it to fill up the places that went dry this year.
Have a good evening all, sweet dreams xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal
