- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Thursday: I managed to get up before noon - even if it was only 7 minutes 😂 Clear blue skies with sunshine but oh so cold 🥶 Only 2°C rising to the heady heights of 3°C with a low of -1°C. First task of the day is to write a menu plan followed by a shopping list ✅ Back to cheerleading & still replying to posts dated 5th January but am hopeful that I will soon be moving onto the 6th 🤞
Excellent decluttering EcoIntent 👏 Especially impressed that both your partner & DD are joining you on the Decluttering journey 😊 although I did notice that they have both deferred the task of disposal to you 😉
Excellent decluttering Blue_Doggy 👏 I especially liked This “afternoon decluttered to doze” after all what else should you be doing on a Sunday afternoon 😅
Brambling, pleased to hear that it was only the sniffles by Sunday & I applaud your decision to stay indoors & potter 👏 Cat cuddles definitely take precedence over decluttering or tidying 😊
Floss, a lovely post & also a gentle reminder to us all that we should live in ‘The Now’ 😊
oceanspirit, how organised - a plan for the week ahead 👏 I need to give that a go 😉 Keep up the good work on decluttering the food brought back from holiday 😊
A very quick jig to the recycling wheelie bin to empty DH’s recycling bag as I am now about to start cheerleading for posts dated the 6th 💃 + then back indoors to get warm 😉
46 - 50 Office recycling, 2 newspapers, 2 cardboard boxes - recycled
Lovely post vulpix 😊 Great decluttering to DD1 👏 & hopefully whilst you are helping her move back into her house you might get to declutter a few more items 😅 Good news that the snow is melting but bad news that it is only because it is raining ☹️ I am keeping my fingers crossed that something will finally be done about the ‘pop up waterfall’ 🤞 I would have thought that regardless of the wood being privately owned, the council could make some sort of Enforcement Order to get the owners to sort out the broken/blocked land drain 🤨
Lovely post StickyTheStickInsect 😊 Very pleased to hear that your DD is actively engaged in the decluttering process 👏 & that both DS1 & DS2 are participating as well 😉 Fingers crossed that your house will soon be under offer 🤞
I let myself get distracted by DH & DSis preparing to go shopping so decided to do a couple of bits of tidying/sorting 😉 Of course it was nothing on my To Do list 😂 I just remembered that I have a couple of birthdays in January - managed to find suitable cards in my very small stash 🥳 Then thought I should really send a Get Well card to my DB’s FIL which led to me sorting out a cubbyhole in the wall unit 😅 Found a card + a stack of envelopes which have been relocated to their rightful place in the filing cabinet (like with like) with the added benefit of freeing up a very pretty Christmas box 🙂 Then tidied the letter rack & found a few bits to shred. All in all very pleased with myself 😀 On that high note I will post this, make myself a cuppa & relax for a while 😉 I hope everyone is managing to stay warm & dry 🤞See you later 👋

Tried to declutter freezer today. Did full inventory but there was nothing to go. I have turned out a bag of odd/old socks for friend at craft club who is making rugs out of them. It's a slow start but I will keep on trying.

Congrats on reaching your optimum decluttering levels. Please will you explain what these mean to a complete newbie to this forum?QueenJess said:Count me in! After decluttering relentlessly for a couple of years, I finally reached my correct level of "stuff" in the house. The kids seem to bring in a lot of things still, but it is looking like grandparents have finally calmed down a bit..My aim for 2025 is to live frugally and try to use everything I have to the maximum usage (plus work through some overstock I have). I will need to do some decluttering as I still haven't finished my digital photos sort out and my kids are young so they will be growing out of clothes/toys etc. I also need to finish actually rearranging the library as I was part way through about 3 months ago
Targets are difficult, so as always I will have a complete stab in the dark, but with multiple targets. This way I am happy if I reach the bottom level and anything above that is a plus. In theory my figures should now all be very low given I am in the right place, but I still need to be vigilant with stuff coming in and ensuring things don't build up. I tend to think very carefully about bringing anything in given how long it took me to declutter, so I'm hopeful it'll all work out.2025 decluttering goals: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,0002025 use up challenge: 🥉12 🥈26 🥇522025 decluttering goals: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,0002025 use up challenge: 🥉12 🥈26 🥇5220 -
@Florenceem I hope today was a more productive one for you in the saga of MrF. What a lovely blanket @Liverpool_Anne. I wish I had half your talent 😃. Lovely news about your Mum @Muddy_Walker. 🥂💐 Nice to hear some good news for a change. Sorry mind has gone blank. Hugs for all those that need or want one. Was supposed to go to market and sm today but decided to stay off the roads. Treacherous!! Did some washing and dried it and went round and dried DS’s washing and kept his dog company for a couple of hours. Had heating on all day on low, but contemplating leaving it on over-night on about 12 degrees. Supposed to be the coldest night of winter so far. Oh well we’ll have to raid the savings to pay gas/electric bill. That’s what they are there for after all. Stay warm and safe everyone.19

Accidentally decluttered my glasses whilst on a sea swim this lunchtime. Oops. Will also need to declutter ££ to replace them as I am blind as a bat. The only prescription lenses I have in the house are my sunglasses, so may have to close curtains tonight before putting TV on.

Dilly Carter on the best way to tackle our clutter.
I haven't heard of this programme before so if it's new might be worth a watch.
I like Dilly's approach (from Sort Your Life Out)20 -
^ Thanks, I will watch that.

I sorted out my cabinet today with the new Lazy Susans. It looks soooo much better and I can see everything clearly. I had to put some things in the bottom drawer of the cabinet like cereal etc... but it looks great! I threw away some OOD biscuits I had forgotten about as they were hidden. I had forgotten I bought desiccated coconut for overnight oats bowls so I will do that tonight.17 -
It was lovely to be at home in bed with Mr F than to be in a crowded hospital waiting room. We both slept well.
Today I have been in touch with my Dr's surgery and social services. I had phone calls back from both places. Someone is coming from the surgery to assess Mr F. There is no quick route to care through the Dr's surgery.
Social services will get back to me.
There was talk of carers coming in but I don't think that would work. I struggled to get Mr F from bed to the bathroom today. He is just so bad on his legs.
He is eating and drinking with me helping him.
He had a lucid moment - said he was going to get up - I asked why - he said to read - he meant downstairs - no way am I attempting to get him down the stairs - our stairs are not the easiest anyway. I gave him his glasses case but he just fell asleep holding it. All he does is sleep.
I popped round to SA with some bits. Then I did some sorting in my craft room.
There is going to be a meeting about activities for 2025 - may not be having table top sales.
I went round to SA again with more stuff - so had a good declutter today.
After lunch I popped to town with items for 2 charity shops - good to get out in the air.
People are asking me about Mr F - he is very well known in the town.
I am doing a ping meal as I feel tired - only done 8000 steps but I think it is mental tiredness rather than physical.23
