Hi all, quick post before I get ready for cake decorating last one, yay 😁
Monday completed the big shop but had to go to 2 am calling back at home after the first to put the fridge and freezer items away but left the rest in bags until after the 2nd round as if I had let OH sit down we wouldn't have got out again. We now have a very full fridge, 2 full freezers and a well stocked cupboard. I have since had a discussion with OH about the amount of food we have and the fact we do not need to keep getting take aways, when OH can't be bothered to cook usually. We need to be more thoughtful when buying and make a few meal plans and do some batch cooking so we have got things in the freezer for when OH cba. All the shopping was put away when we got home from the 2nd round 😁. I didn't manage the tip run as it was raining and OH was couch bound so nothing decluttered apart from the kitchen bin.
Yesterday I sorted out 2 bags of plastic containers that came back from OH's dniece that have been sat in the hallway for weeks. Several binned as I was unable to match the containers with the lids and one had got a part squashed dishwasher tab in the bottom that had covered everything so they and the bag had to be washed. I managed to consolidate the remaining containers and lids into 1 bag for OH to use next time a batch cook for dniece is done. I did a session of ironing before heading to the dentist to collect a prescription for toothpaste and then out for my tea with some ex colleagues 😁. Very nice evening and as usual we were thrown out at closing time 😁. Home at just on midnight and straight to bed for me.
It was St.Swithins day yesterday and the saying goes that if it rains on St. Swithins day it will rain for 40 days, it absolutely bucketed down for most of the day so we shall see 😂, summer might have been and gone 🙄.
Right off to get another cuppa and a shower and get weaving
Hugs to everyone who would like one

artwork sorted mostly - about 1/4 left to do. I've got my stuff I want to keep, stuff I want to frame and stuff that my art teacher claims should be saved to have the other side of the paper use. Not that I need excess paper as I've bought too much. There's also a bin full of stuff to go into the big bin.
surprised to find a fat envelope full of all sorts of photos that I can't recall ever having. Ones including friends from uni in my mom's kitchen. Over 40 years back!! Just attempting to sort out some of the kitchen, but it's so overwhelming. I took all the containers out the big drawer and I think I have a container problem
Trying to be ruthless, but loads more to do.

Hi chums decluttered £50 to youngest grandson as he needed a shirt, tie and trouser for his buddies graduation tomorrow. I will get it back though as he’s waiting for his wage cheque to arrive and I know he always pays it back
He's cross with himself as his decent clothes are all here hanging up in his wardrobe on the IoW. He forgot to take a good outfit back with him after Easter.
Eldest DD has just texted me from Zante to say it’s 38c there this afternoon 😅 and I thought I was too hot at 23c 🤣 She will notice the difference when she gets home next Sunday she said she feels like a sun-dried tomato at the moment
keep cool chums it will soon break fingers crossed and we may get some rain

Ditched a stained oven glove that I haven’t used in forever and an enormous Tupperware plastic storage doings. Used to keep pasta in but now not needed. Been to Nottingham today for the dentist. A bad nights sleep and up and out the house by 9am. I am not a natural morning person. There are roadworks EVERYWHERE and detours. We fit a little bit of shopping in afterwards. Stuff I can't get locally so just wait until we go out somewhere. Mr V may have bought me a silver and periodot necklace. Didn't need it but I will enjoy wearing it.
Our jewellery repairs are ready, we will go on Saturday. My bangle is ready to try for size but the diamonds are not fitted yet. Mr V has had a signet ring repaired that he had for his 21st Birthday.
I seem to have spent the afternoon and evening doing a lot for little return. Lots of messages, phone calls, emails and a visit to Mum. I have asked if the solicitor can do a home visit to Mum. As she is virtually off grid ( I shall start calling her Swampy) It is very difficult to sell a house.
The result of what seems like a lot of effort
3 parcels made up to post tomorrow.
some stuffing for toys and some wool given to Mum
The 4 fancy bottles Mr V brought me given to our cleaner
wood glue given to man shed
phone cable binned
possibly other things but I'm too tired to remember.
Thank you for our awards Mrs SD.
Got to go and give another blood sample in the morning. Hope it hurts less this time. Then finally I can get up to Mum's house and do some more work on the upcycled furniture.

The sad part of the stuff in my neat boxes is after all these years (60 plus) some of it is still in the same boxes. Packed when I moved out as is and returned when I came back to help with my brother and grandparents, then still in closets upstairs when taking care of parents. They got stuffed farther back in the big closet (a very deep one) again when people started moving in here and still haven't been sorted out. It will be like opening a time capsule soon.15

Wednesday: a dull cloudy day with the sun struggling to make an appearance - high 25°C low 15°C humidity 49% but with a nice breeze. DH left 12:30 for a dentist appointment & called 20 minutes later as issues with DLR so having to take a bus, the Jubilee line & Central line. I had mail today so have spent some time dealing with it. Also I recently received a letter from DWP re my state pension & decided to phone to request a paper form - huge mistake 😖 I phoned the number given, selected the nearest option to what I wanted 3 times in a row (although not once was there a mention of ordering a paper form) & each time nothing - just a message to try a different number. Tried 4 more times including using the different telephone number, selecting different options & each time the same message “try a different number” & on every call I kept being bombarded with the message “to go online” & enticed with a message that if I couldn’t go online I should continue the telephone call 😖 I wasted an hour plus - hoping against hope with my blood pressure rising by the minute - so angry 😤 & then to add a further insult the online complaint forum is offline 😡 The whole telephone system seems to have been designed by an absolute moron. Just after I had given up, DH phoned at 14:30. He had arrived on time for his appointment - mostly OK but needs to have at least one tooth extracted & then will need a bridge. The tooth extraction appointment has been booked for a Saturday with the visiting dental surgeon. Fortunately we still have an NHS dentist so the bridge work should cost about £1200 rather than several thousand 😮💨- good job DH recently sold a few shares 😉 DH is coming home using a couple more bus routes (apparently there are over 500 bus routes in London & DH has managed just over 200 ☹️) although he only stays on each bus for a couple of stops 😅 To cheer myself up after the DWP phone call debacle, I phoned my bank to pay my CC bill (all transactions from our trip to Scotland had appeared) & check on my accounts. It was a joy - call was picked up after one ring & business completed in less than ten minutes. A further 15 minutes later & I had updated my paper accounts 😊 It is now 16:30 & the sun has finally managed to put in an appearance 🙂 DH finally got home at 18:00 - all hot & bothered - bus journeys horrendous 45 minutes to travel a mile & squashed on Jubilee Line - packed in like sardines - DH didn’t have to hold on 😱🥵 DH sat & chatted to me for 30 minutes. Apparently he will be having 2 teeth extracted & then 2 bridges 😣 About 19:00 DH helped me make dinner - melt in the mouth rump steak, Dauphinoise potatoes & garlicky green beans - soooo tasty 🤤 Wudupa.

Fizz2015, what a great Tuesday especially the rain 😊 Excellent digital decluttering 👏 Hopefully you were successful with your decluttering plan for Wednesday 🤞
TC77, no furniture moving just yet as DH is waiting a call back from BHF about a collection date for the double bed as we have no space to store it ☹️
wishus, shame about the food having to be binned ☹️ but better safe than sorry 😉 Not surprised you are keeping the truffle marmite - very expensive stuff 😬 Well done on decluttering from the cellar, a medal 🏅 is on its way 👏
Oops, just notice the time so will post & catch up with the cheerleading tomorrow. Sleep tight 😴

Not exactly money saving but an excellent example of customer service.I ordered a dress from the F@tface sale. It arrived but, due to warehouse issues, it was the right style but wrong print. An excellent returns and refund process ensued as the dress was now out of stock. I stalked the website…..the dress came back in stock (cue celebrations) I ordered…..it arrived….the wrong dress again (I now suspect it was the one I returned once again returned to me). It’s a nice dress, so nice I already have it!!Once again onto customer service, the dress is, once again, out of stock so they can’t do a switch however “As this has now happened twice would I like any of their other dresses? This includes the full price ones and they will honour the sale price.” And to top it off I’m booked in for a call at 9am this morning so I didn’t feel pressured into making the choice there and then on the phone.I won’t lie, my flabber was ghasted.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
