DxxSeconded!Just to add to @QueenJess , there is the emotional part of decluttering - it won't be everything and it might not be shoes, but we form the oddest attachments to stuff. I rescued some of Dad's Uni mementos from Mum's throw-out (she had no connection with that time in his life) but some years later I was emotionally ready to let it go. My DH will not even thin his collection of 40+ Science Text books, all 30+ years old, because his Physics degree is part of his identity (It might be significant that he's not doing a role in science atm).If this is the case I'd just say to be aware of it and be kind to yourself.@CRANKY40 I don't normally fall for cute, but what a delightful fluff-ball! Mildly envious as my family have lived in a state of feline deprivation since our Maud died last year. She'd been with us 16 years so my DDs had never known a cat-less home. We'll be looking for a cat again after the move.I've been round and labelled all the book boxes with where they are to be put in the move, numbering as I go: 53 so far with the DD's shelves not started. I'm away this weekend but have an extra day off from work next week ... I need more boxes!Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅⭐️ ⭐️, DH: ⭐️ and one for Mum: 🏅12 -
@YBR she was just meant to be. We collected her from somewhere 5 minutes driving from our house. I said to ds "it's karma" and when we met her the lady said "I call her Karma". That's not her name any more but she's learning her name (I said by 6 months old she'll be known as "little sod"). I'm sorry about Maud, we had Grouchy for almost 16 years.
Ooh, look at me posting daily! Only 5 things decluttered yesterday as we went out for something ds wanted and then played with the kitten a lot. I need to go and get dressed for a hospital appointment now and when I come home I think we're making more brownies.
@TC77 100 items - whooohoooo, well done!12 -
@CRANKY40 it's all dd2 and I have counted those I've kept for the moment 30! Hope to see photos as the kitten previously known as Karma grows and becomes part of your family..
I am considering passing on some new towels ( as in new years ago and unused) as I don't like much but think could be useful when some wear out! I do have some which have loose ends so can't pass on but can use ( of course I could cut loose ends and sew in)
Have put things in the different donation bags and doing a wash before going into work.
Email sent off last night I'd been delaying anf hoping to see dd1 to help move along frog.
Hope everyone is being kind to themselves.10 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
This is yesterday’s post which I forgot to send 🙊 Thursday was a lovely sunny day with a high of 24°C & low of 13°C Wrote a menu plan & shopping list. Whilst DH & DSis were out I descaled the kettle & cleared & scrubbed a section of kitchen worktop. Items put in cupboards & space created on the worktop for the coffee maker we treated ourselves to 😉 All shopping put away. I continued to declutter programmes from the TV planner & now have 85% available. Dinner was spaghetti bolognaise. Wudupa.

Oooo, quick, I can post. Not been able to post for days so sorry I haven't commented on things I would usually.
First, gorgeous little kitten. Please can we have regular photos?
Second, I agree with Queen Jess. I have significantly decluttered over the last few years in several rounds. It gets easier and I don't miss any of it. We are moving to a house with probably twice as much room as we have here. I will have to buy some second hand furniture but not much else. I won't fill the space. I like having just enough. I don't want to be the custodian of stuff that will eventually have to go to landfill because it's obsolete or disintegrating. Might as well let someone who has use for it have it now and I get the space.
Welcome new passengers. We love to hear about your journey.
Plodding on with a bit of packing and a bit of decluttering. Can't remember what has gone except 2 pairs of rocket dog pumps which I washed and donated. I love them but they are not supportive enough for my arthritic feet these days.
The renovation of the old sewing machine table into a TV table is complete. I have made a little freebee cupboard into a bedside bookcase for the new little spare room. I have bought a very cheap area rug for the new dining room,it was only £10. I have started to fix some fraying at one end of it. It will serve us until the renovations are done at the new house. We have been given a dining table and 6 chairs. The chair seats had been recovered awkwardly in quite thick grey PVC. Mr V has got all the grey off to reveal black underneath. It has seen better days. I will recover them when I have some inspiration as to what fabric. I imagine we will pass the table and chairs on eventually. I am using my Mother's empty house as a workshop and storage. Oh, the box of rocks is still there btw.
I wanted to pack up my shed today but it is very windy, quite wild out there. Perhaps later. I'm still knitting and crocheting for England.
Take care Vx:13 -

What a lovely new kitten. Slightly envious here.😼.
No decluttering done at home today but I have the bug so went to community club and did a huge turnout of craft stuff. 3 bin bags full been donated or thrown. A good afternoons work! Not counting as it's not gone from my house. Also organized and labeled 5 big tub boxes with lids. Just the craft cabinet to go now. 🙂. Was also very good and didn't bring anything home with me.
Edit - just cleaned out and tidied the fridge. A half marg tub out of date thrown, a few soft potatoes, a tomato and a couple of plastic bags from the salad drawer. Not too bad in there. Still eating our way through the freezer. I meal planned it until end of June and so should have used all but 2 joints up. With a little ingenuity it is lasting way past. I love a win like that.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £17.98 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,
