As I did the ironing this afternoon I did a bit of a declutter of OHs socks underwear and clothes drawers and cupboards. Along with 2 sets of pyjamas of mine and a pair of binoculars well past their usefulness that's another bag. I am on a roll. 🤣

Still not finished with the cupboard, but made a lot of progress and put most stuff away so I'm not tripping over it. Will get DS to try his stuff on after I pick him up soon. I think the problem with the cupboard is having bits of all of our stuff in it, but this has taken all day (in tiny bits) when really it shouldn't have been more than an hour! Perhaps I have more to get rid of generally than I thought...1 - DD coat (Buy Nothing)

Almost done with the cupboard - I just need to finish clearing up a few bits and get DD to try on the selection of gloves we seem to have accumulated when I go and get her in a bit. It's a big relief as I didn't enjoy that at all! It is looking a lot better, but I do think we could get rid of a few more bits and pieces, but likely to be a mix between using things up and not replacing, and making sure we try to use everything and get rid if we don't like them. At least using all this stuff up means I've got rid of lots of packaging, so the stash is finally slowly decreasing.Obviously we don't mention DH's too many coats and stashes of shoes (including a massive box that lives in the loft)... maybe one day he'll sort them out....3 - packaging reused

On way home. Dd2 has a black sack for rubbish, a bag for cs and a laundry basket to sort. However, the black sack has unused print stick and crochet bits so can go to bank of things and textile recycling. And cs includes pencils they can't use at cs but bank of things can. Dd2 too stressed and short of time so I will sort and for me easier than sorting my own things
So much easier to sort others' stuff11 -
Here's the new baby. The day after we brought her home ds bathed her and I flea treated her. Yesterday she had her first vaccination and she was microchipped.29 -
I’m afraid I have been bad at updating my progress in decluttering, but I always follow the posts on this thread for inspiration. Hubby and I have decluttered 1495 items between us so far this year, so that’s quite a good chunk of our 2025-item target.I have managed to get rid of eight pairs of shoes today - some were a bit worn out, and others I just can’t see myself ever wearing again, as I only wear comfortable shoes with a very low heel these days! I’m afraid I am not going to own up to how many pairs I still have, as it’s embarrassing, but let’s just say that I shouldn’t need to buy any more for a long time!I don’t find it easy to get rid of things that are in good condition and that I might need or want to use in the future. How do you all cope with this?12

1. How stressed am I about how much I still have? Shoes last ages and so are you really ok to feel stressed about your house for all that time just for some shoes? Your piece of mind is worth more than that.
2. How long does it take to completely wear out shoes before you “might need them”? I had some I kept for ages “just in case”, but by the time I wanted to use them, they had started to fall apart. Your stuff continues to disintegrate whether or not you use them and so holding for long periods isn’t worth it - it’s better someone uses them over their lifetime.
3. Given less should be now coming in as you use what you have, it’ll be satisfying and fun to go and buy something new once you’ve completely worn out what you have. Guilt free shopping! (I realise this won’t work for everyone).
4. How many times have you actually used the item in the past year, 2 years etc? If you haven’t grabbed them, then there’s probably a reason for that - they aren’t perfect, you have something much better etc. Why hang onto something second best?
If it helps, I have got rid of thousands of items and I haven’t regretted a single thing. I probably don’t even remember them although sometimes I think “I should get rid of x” only to realise I did already declutter it 😂. I have never bought anything back either.2025 decluttering: 3,152🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅
