I’m going to keep a running total for July.
1 - food processor sold on marketplace 😀15 -
Strange old day today, boiling hot but rumbles of thunder in the air, and rain every time I think of setting foot outside
I've decided im going to aim high - i want to declutter 2025 things from my house this year.
Today im making a start - 6 things gone already - their small but its a start. Some of it could have potentially been sold but for me at the moment the mental space is more valuable than the 50p I ll get per item. (I know its not very MSE and the money would have helped towards the debts but I need to do something rather than just rabbit in the headlights stare)
Hope everyone's having a good day xx

Good Afternoon everyone a cooler day today thankfully. Just back from a holiday in the Peak District. We had a lovely time. Not to be idle during our break I decluttered more emails.
Emails 2219
photos 246
use ups 1
paperwork 92 = 2257 total now at 9127
Going to carry on in the dining room cupboards.
Hopefully will get a bit more decluttered before going away again the week after next. Take care x2025 Decluttering 9127⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Re making 50p vs mental space....we were talking about a similar thing elsewhere. We need to think also about the time it takes to make 50p. If the national minimum wage is, what?, £12 then to achieve that we need to have only taken 5 minutes to make that 50p else we're underpaying ourselves. Being underpaid is not very MSE so sometimes better to give things away.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Hello folks,
I did write a post on Sunday I think but the MSE goblins ate it and now I can't remember what I said. I have already promised myself that I will take time in my day to post more often in July. My decluttering total for June was 310 so 2140 for the year so far. There is more to go yet.
So far this month I have decluttered 5 things yesterday and 10 things today. One of yesterday's was a black bag full of weeds, rose prunings and the results of thinning down the winter jasmine which was getting a bit lively. I try to keep to a multiple of 5 because it makes it easier for me to remember. If I have less than 5 I put them on the kitchen counter until I have 5 things to deal with and then I can record the number in my journal. Goodness I'm boring....
Ds has a kitten. He's disabled so he spends a lot of time in the house and he wasn't coping well without his little mate. A small creature to look after has given him something extra to concentrate on. She had her first vaccinations and her microchip done today. I have to say that ds is looking after her well. She has two speeds - zoom and asleep.

- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday: I missed the rain this morning 😢 although it is now very overcast, & dark. Thankfully the temperature is a lot cooler (high 23°C, low 16°C) although no more rain is forecast until Saturday. Weather picked up about 14:30 now fluffy white clouds, blue sky & sunshine but also a breeze. The very hot weather did rather concentrate the mind as even though there was a bin liner in my wheelie bin, once emptied it was still ‘exceedingly malodorous’ 🤢 Now cleaned inside & out (including the lid) using disinfectant & boiling water. Just waiting for it to dry before adding a bin liner. I also dealt with today’s mail.
Now that my brain isn’t being poached, I will attempt to catch up with the cheerleading
GrannyKate, your trip to Edinburgh sounds marvellous 🤩 You certainly packed a lot into 4.5 days 😊 + you managed 75000 steps 🤩 Sorry to hear about your fall 😞 & I hope you are fully recovered & that any bruises are long gone before you head off to Portugal 🤞 Belated Happy Birthday to DGD4 🎉 🎂 The gardener did a great job as the garden is looking really good; as is the new fence 🙂
Wednesday2000 how sad 😔 My heart goes out to the families. I always like to receive that particular type of letter - definitely spurs me on to donate more ☺️ Thanks for the reminder about neck fans - very effective although mine is rather noisy 😞
Soontobeoap, your Sunday sounded exhausting 😩 so no wonder you rewarded yourself with a little rest on Monday 🙂 Hope the curtain making goes well 🤞I have been rather remiss in making awards so a Gold Star ⭐️ for you re 70/52 bags + a Gold Star ⭐️ for DH re stripping the wood-chip paper 👏
Floss, how interesting 🧐 I have been rather remiss in making awards for all the work you have been doing on decluttering & selling so am awarding you TWO Gold Stars ⭐️⭐️
Dizzycap, hopefully you managed to get some rest whilst watching Wimbledon 🤞& I do trust that babyface allowed you at least a few strawberries & cream 😉 Great work continuing to declutter by selling 👏 Surely there can’t be much left 🤞
Great work Soontobeoap 👏 The room doesn’t look that small especially as it has a fireplace 😉
London_1, hopefully the weather cooled down on Tuesday after Monday’s scorching temperatures 🤞 no wonder one of the two young men working on the patio looked like he was melting 🥵 Hopefully you managed to get the “a bit of reading the back of my eyelids” done before the tennis started 😉
Wednesday2000, how decadent strawberries & cream for breakfast ☺️🤤 Great decluttering 👏 & good luck for the rest of Monday’s decluttering 🍀 although I do hope that there aren’t too many ‘boring bits’ of tennis 🤞
Brie, I rather like the idea that the Lidl pseudo Birkenstocks are “on probation” 😉 We usually get magpies using the water bowl as a bath 😅
QueenJess, absolutely brilliant amount of items used up in June 👏 What a great idea for your July Challenge 😊
Great decluttering TC77, especially the sales 👏
Yippee to the plumber replacing the cracked pipework oceanspirit 🥳 Fingers crossed that you can find the attachments for the electric gizmo & that you find a few more bits & pieces to declutter from the cupboard 🤞
Excellent decluttering Willowtree222 👏
Excellent work YBR 👏 As you & DH are doing such a grand job of packing i am awarding each of you a Gold Star ⭐️⭐️
I have caught up a little but now need to turn my mind to dinner. Hope everyone has had a good day 😊 See you later 👋
