Everyone is doing so well, just took ages to catch up with the thread!
Our landfill wheelie bin was emptied. I have been trying so hard the last few years to be lower waste but sadly with decluttering efforts over last month and christmas it was full this time.
Today, I have been trying to deal with recycling, alongside the weekly groceries shop. Batteries recycled at Lidl (hopefully we won't have many more as we use rechargable ones now, we have been switching over time). Soft plastics recycled at Tesco, and six months worth of toothpaste tubes and used old toothbrushes from two households as I collect them from my mum took to the Terracycle bank at the zero waste refill shop. I was a bit disappointed as Tesco don't have the makeup recycling box anymore, so my empties have returned with me.

Hello everyone 😊 I had quite a few pages to catch up with today and I loved seeing the flowers and the terrarium. My poor garden is a wilderness as I had operations in June the last two years so gardening was difficult. There's also no point weeding if there's nothing to plant in the space created because there are a lot of cats in this area and any empty soil is like an invitation to them.....
I decluttered 15 things from my craft room yesterday. I cut up all the out of date bank cards etc that were lingering in a small drawer and disposed of a few other mystery items (either a mystery where they came from or a mystery why I kept them). I will be looking at a bigger drawer today.

Saturday: missed the morning entirely as I was up very late gone 13:00 🙁 A rather dark dreary day & according to the forecast we might be having ‘snowy conditions’ at 20:00 😧 I have my first cuppa & will dive straight into the cheerleading as I am falling further & further behind 🙊 I have only one more post to reply to for 31st December & then I will be replying to the 2025 posts 🙂
basketcase, a great idea to put your goals as part of your signature 👏 I do hope you got off to a good start on the 1st January 🤞
Lovely to see you StickyTheStickInsect 👋 It looks like 2025 is going to be a very busy year but all in a good cause 🥹 Firstly I am keeping everything crossed that you find your new home quickly & that both purchase & sale go through smoothly 🙏 Secondly I will wish you good luck with both your decluttering & selling on V 🍀 I am also hoping that your DCs are of an age that they can help with the decluttering so that they will feel involved in the ‘adventure of moving’ 🙂 Good luck 🍀
Great decluttering Dizzycap 👏 Congratulations on dealing with the contents behind door 1 🥳 Hopefully your listed items will sell quickly 🤞I am very impressed so I am awarding you a medal🏅 Good luck with the other 5 doors 🍀 Thanks for the reminder about the 10/10/10 method 👏
Thanks for the reminder daisy_1571 👏 I have amended my opening post to mention that we do have a “Fluffies Carriage” & yes it is open 😊
~FlowerPot~, remember the “Fluffies Carriage” is open day & night even if you can only pop in for a few minutes 😉 Hope work wasn’t too busy on the 2nd 🤞
You are very welcome CRANKY40 😊 & you have set off on your 2025 Decluttering Journey 👏 Thanks for This “Just a thought and something which has helped with the decluttering here - yes, we may have wasted money buying something which we didn't need but there's no need to waste space in our house by keeping it when we realise that we no longer want it and that will also save us from feeling guilty or trying to figure out what to do with it every time we look at it.” A useful tip 😊
Lovely to see you Duchess2 👋 A very positive post & I especially like This “…….. I will do some form of declutterring every day, be it 10 mins or 1hour, mindset and health allowing. I will not feel guilty and will look at every achievement, however small, as one more step on the road to a life with less.” 🥹 A perfect way to keep your motivation high 👏 Good luck 🍀
Welcome aboard the EDT AnimalTribe 👋 Of course you can join us, we love seeing new faces 😊 2025 will be your year 😊 you just need to look at 2024 as a practice run building up your decluttering muscles ready for a successful 2025 🥹 I look forward to following your journey 😊 Please remember decluttering is a marathon not a sprint 🙏 so that even if you have a slow day you are still making progress 😊
BlueJ94, a very busy NYD 😊 but how lovely to spend time with your family & hopefully eat up any extra food leftover from Christmas 😅 Sorry to hear that OH has caught the dreaded lurgy that is doing the rounds - not a great start to 2025 for your OH 😔
Another page caught up just as I need a new cuppa 🙂

Well, have just been round to my parents to help with some very unwelcome decluttering after they were hit by the floods on New Year's ☹️ luckily there isn't too much damage, but have spent a good few hours clearing out the back rooms, although still quite a lot to do. Waiting for the council who have promised a skip, and will be back round to help then.
Have also listed a bunch of mum's items on v!nted, she wanted to see if some bits would sell but didn't know where to start. Have made £50 today which she is very chuffed with, so I suspect she might have been bitten by the reselling bug!23 -
Fairly successful day today. Too cold to go out anyway. Roads are lethal - DIL spun car round but thankfully missed everything. Young lad living up the road has been collecting buckets of grit from store at top of road and has gritted road by drive exits, turning circle at top and bends as you turn into road. He was out there for ages in the cold. My roofers salted my drive from bag I brought with me - I was concerned one of them would break their leg. I have made enquiries about a cat advertised for rehoming on FB (Cats Protection). I have started the 1p challenge - gave up on it early last year but the year before I got to £400. Will try and finish it this year.
8 Booked blood tests in answer to text from surgery
9 Garage roof felt decluttered by roofer - wood is in such good condition that he suggested I save money on materials and labour by not replacing it. Tarpaulin weighted down because of potential snow and they will do felt early Monday. They had to leave cleaning gutters as they were full of frozen water.
10 Filing box sorted - reduced to two thirds of contents and folders labelled as many were missing their tags.
11 Shredding done - shopping bag full waiting in porch for tip recycling
12 Daily desk note book finished up and covers recycled. 'Moving' book repurposed to use up next - a few things from it kept in files
13-22 My packing boxes numbered 107 at moving date (with 28 bags). Box no 34 brought out into light of day and contents joined 10 different piles - so all went like with like - some things for sale, recycling, rubbish, etc - I found some Olympic Gold Medal winners stamps - must have been late DHs. They seemed to sell well on eBay so DD will contact auction house which sold my main collection last summer. I allowed myself 10 points for this including empty box which DIL took with her when they called in.
23 Lots of frogs completed and in box almost empty - committee papers compiled and sent out.
24 DGS4's passport renewal eventually completed successfully
25 Holiday booking completed with DS2
26 Many emails deleted or saved
27 DIL helped sort SKY account out
28 Renewed membership of a family history society
29 Renewed DS2's annual prescription payment - I've been doing this as his birthday present for some years. He is asthmatic and it is well worthwhile to buy this.
30 One section of fitted cupboard emptied (there are three) we need to remove cupboard before electricians arrive Monday.
31 Most of January birthday cards written - one more to buy for end of month. Found the last of my Christmas stamps which I had lost.
32 DIL took in car Alexa to sell as I do not need in new car.
I found a new bottle of wine (Christmas gift) and have started to declutter it. YS cod mornay in freezer is in oven for my tea. Some sadness today as I heard my great nephew and his wife had lost baby twin boys just after they were born early. Very sad for everyone.
If the cat I enquired about has gone I will see what else they have.
Tomorrow is a demolition and moving day before electricians arrive. We have planned a trip to antique centre but that depends on weather and roads. I need to get some lights for kitchen and garage but not going out until roads are better. I enquired about drop leaf table I ordered which was due 24 Dec then 30 Dec. Likely to be 14 January now.

Moving tips:
I heard one which I thought was helpful. Use up old coloured paint by painting a big smear of paint on outside of your boxes i.e blue for bedroom 1, orange for dining room etc. You can add numbers on top of the painted section once dry if that also helps. Fingers crossed none of the removal team are colour blind.
Also as someone who works in a sm we are always happy to provide boxes for people but please give us 24 hours notice. Some people seem to think we have a ready supply but we're busy and need to sort and put to one side any such boxes.
Oh I never even thought to ask for boxes, our supermarket at the time used to put them at the end of the checkouts

Evening all! The weather is snowy here and so so cold! It's due to snow most of the night too so should be interesting.
No decluttering today, I've been out shopping with OH as he buys and sells electronics etc.

Basketcase re your cold tootsies, I was in Savers the other day. They had hot water bottles with covers and the covers looked a bit odd so I went to investigate 🔎 there was an extra flap so you could slide your feet in and keep them cosy 😀 it said not to stand up on it but it looked a bit like those 'big slipper' things you used to be able to buy (or maybe you can still)
