2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

I have been trying to deep clean an area of the house each day. I was certain that I would hire a cleaner when I moved here, which didn't happen. Yesterday was the bathroom and today was the upstairs windows. I have decluttered a lot of cleaning cloths and rearranged the cleaning products cupboard.
I am not doing anything this weekend, but next weekend I have a concert and afternoon tea in London. We are staying in a hotel overnight and it just occurred to me that we will have to wear the same outfit to the rock concert and the afternoon tea. I don't want to lug lots of bags so I will wear a similar outfit to both and I can't think what would look good in both those situations! Maybe I can bring a spare pair of shoes with me. The place where we are having the afternoon tea is in Mayfair so I assume it will be smart dress. I wasn't really thinking when I booked both on the same weekend.17 -
Florianatwotbob distraught and dishevelled would often be a good visual description for me 😆 love it
Florenceem so very glad its all working grand just now with mr f, amazing after how he was
Wednesday presumably concert will be jeans and tshirt. I think I would travel in that therefore no extra outfit needs packed for that day. That means only 1 outfit needs packed for the day of the afternoon tea. Do you have a dress that is a fine material so will pack small? If you think you might get away with jeans and a lovely top that of course would be best. If you need a jacket take one for the concert then you can wear it to the afternoon tea but take it off just as you reach the door and carry it inside. Then you can change back into the jeans and a fresh tshirt to travel back home if needed

Thanks Daisy. I'm looked at my wardrobe and I'm going to have to get a new outfit as all my clothes are too casual. I'm just glad this occurred to me the week before, instead of the day before!😆2025 GOALS

I thought I'd get the decluttering out of the way this morning so that I can relax a bit this afternoon (after dropping ds off at his friend's accommodation). Fifteen things this morning which brings this month's total to 285. I'm also trying to put stuff away in it's proper place as I come across it as Blue_Doggy said.
I hope that the charity shop will be as pleased to receive the couple of bags of donations I have as I will be to get them out of the house. That'll be a job for next week as I'm still in pain from whatever I did to myself on Monday although it's not as bad as it was earlier in the week.
The second lot of washing is drying - the proliferation of dirty clothes was due to ds "tidying" his room yesterday.16 -
I went out again - another trolley and bag full out of the house.
I called at the community shop - got a few bits.
Last stop was the SA - I picked up Private Ey. mags for Mr F - a Church friend passes them to him. I rescued a large plate of dinner and 2 puds from being thrown in the bin. All boxed up and in the freezer for easy meals when I need them.
We ate at 12.30 as that is suiting us - early rising and early to bed. Mr F is more a night owl but I prefer the dawn time to clean and get ready for the day.
Mr F had a phone call - another community nurse - she did his obvs and checked the blood blister on his heel from being in bed and not moving. Lovely nurse - going to get Mr F a pressure cushion as he is sitting a lot. Also going to order the blue pressure relieving boots that he had in hospital.
Nurse took photos of Mr F's legs and ankles - will send them to GP. I asked for more medication as the hospital supplied the diuretic - 1 a day - Mr F takes 2 a day so will run out.
Nurse is arranging occupational/physio and rehab care.
I am pleased that Mr F is being looked after in the community without the need for carers.
I have done over 11,000 steps today.

@Florenceem , I'm very pleased to hear that MrF is managing the stairs and that the community nurse is being super-helpful and making sure that he gets the physio and rehab care. Please continue to look after yourself too - the last few bags will not spoil while you take a break. My thoughts and prayers are still with you both xx
Not a lot of progress with decluttering this week, but my collection of my ancestors' BMD certificates and Wills is slowly getting sorted, and I'm updating my family tree database as I go through them.17 -
I item sold and packaged + posted..dealt with home phone frog, realised never worked since moved to digital but now does!
Moved bookcase out of dd2 room and books, more to do tomorrow..
Think cousin's help which I'd hope would be Feb may be April but lots I should be able to do on my own.
Forgot to say def up for a London declutterai get together.
Glad to hear things improving for Mr F many older people get confused in hospital.
@ionafan well done on sorting family things as I know ( or imagine as I haven't got that far) is very difficult. The thought of doing it is difficult enough.17 -
How about this for a small but big win?
I was tidying up a shelf that had accrued just a few bits of stuff and oddments (really not a lot) and found a little slip of paper that came from one of my fortune cookies the other week. I had kept as it had said "Your financial gains in life are about to begin"
I'd thought to myself I don't do the lottery or anything like that and was more thinking I'm likely to be spending it not gaining it.
Well today my invitation to start the claim process for my state pension arrived! Hell that was one frog that was just about fertilised as a tadpoledone and dusted in minutes
Can you tell I'm excited?
@Wednesday2000 how about a nice bright light weight scarf to change the look or a large necklace if you are that type of gal
@Florenceem glad to see MrF is back at home and things are starting to move in the right direction for you both.
Have a good weekend all

@Liverpool_Anne my sister gave me a recipe for broccoli & Stilton cheese soup, which is quite nice, but I’m not minded to buy cheese just to put into soup. However, I do freeze the rinds (those which don’t get used as sprinkles for when my dog decides he doesn’t like his food). I also save cheddar rinds for cauliflower or leek soup - since both of those vegetables can be served with a cheese sauce they’re compatible. I’m not an adventurous cook, but I don’t like waste.
Not much done today as I’ve been a bit tired. I didn’t get up until late - 7.30 - which put me behind for the day. It takes an hour for the painkiller to ease my back and hips, so a late start is a big time waster.Grocery delivery received, checked, and all put away. Little filmy plastic bags put together in the shopping bag to be returned when I go to the shop.Decluttered:- cardboard box to recycling
- unsuitable dog lead (an Xmas gift) to charity shop bag
- small plastic food tub for cs ( there’s another the same in the freezer with soup in it - they look like my main ones, but are not quite, so the lids have to be hunted for when used - that’s earmarked for cs when emptied)
- half a dozen emptied envelopes from the mail
- magazine to recycling“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️
