    The instructions I got were that your can use the application reference for your initial deposit. The letter you receive with your log in ID will include your account details. What's the rush, your account is open sit back and relax.
    I would imagine that the rush is that they are likely a 1 year from application and not a 1 year from first deposit society. However so long as the deposit gets there in time to count for October, the loss will be minimal.

    I've just spoke to them. They confirmed you should use the application reference number (starts with 3 zeros) for your first payment.

    It's in the first email that they sent you where it says.....

    "You have successfully saved the progress on your application for our 1Yr Online Smart Saver.

    Access to complete your application will expire on 04/11/2025.

     To retrieve and complete your application please click the link below.

    Complete your Application 

    Your Application Reference number is [Text removed by Forum Team]

    Mine were different numbers but it seems you can use either for your first deposit.

    This is from their FAQ:



    Takes ages for them to credit though. From memory, a deposit only shows on the next working day.

    Give them a call. They’ll give you the account reference number by phone if you need it.

    I asked about bank transfers to the account. You are correct. I was told by a Henley agent that they are not part of the bank faster payment scheme, so the earliest faster payments appear in account is the next day.

    I was told that the payments are backdated to when they are received at Hanley, even though it takes longer for them to appear in the individual account

    However, in your account opening email they also stateFrom the date you fund this account there will be a 10 day stop on any withdrawals. This is to enable us to complete our processes and back ground checks.

    I'm a new customer and opened the account successfully. Paid in £300 by debit card as part of the opening process.

    Can't get access online as waiting for User ID to come by snail mail, so don't have account number.

    Can I use the application reference in the reference field to set up a SO? CoP not giving a match today but perhaps will tomorrow.

    Hanley have now released TAR10 which is the online version of their Smart Saver - all easily opened through online banking and account now showing in the app.

    It's £300/month for 12 months at 6.5% AER variable - maximum balance of £3,600 - the account allows two penalty-free withdrawals per tax year, otherwise withdrawals allowed but with a loss of interest.

    Opened as new customer - unable to get text verification for some reason so asked for email instead - opened ok and will fund in the morning using the reference number from the application approved page. Probable going to reduce payments to 6% Monmouthshire to fund this and anything else which may hopefully become available (Scottish On line - Principality Christmas)
