I’ve retrieved my login and can see my Branch Saver there (usually just use the app), but no application links there. Then I clicked on Enquire Now and followed the link to login and apply, but it gave me the same view as before. Nowhere to actually apply for the account..
Are you using the mobile version of the website? The "Apply Online" button doesn't appear on that for some reason. If using a mobile device, you'd need to request desktop version - and then the "Apply Online" button appears - or if you have one, login on an actual desktop/laptop where the "Apply Online" button appears at the top right of the page.
iPad, so I guess it’s the mobile version. Can’t see a way to request desktop version - or is that done only once logged into online banking?
Tap on the ‘Enquire’ button near the top of the details of the account.  This takes you to the application
That was what I did before logging in as directed and getting nothing but a view of my existing account. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon, along with the copy and paste terms.

Existing customers shouldn’t need to ignore the direction to log in and proceed as though a new customer, surely?

I don't have an iPad, I use an iPhone which also operates on Safari - so probably a similar process.
First login, and when you can see your account(s) press on the "rectangle with two lines underneath" button, then on the "three dots" button:

That should then open up a new screen, and simply select "Request Desktop Site".

    Hopefully that'll work.

Hanley 1 Year Online Smart Saver
I logged in as an existing customer and everything was pre-populated which made it quick to complete, but got an 'application is currently unavailable message' immediately after paying by debit card which was somewhat worrying. However, I checked the app (which until now was home to pocket change in a lonely instant access saver) and the new account along with the £300 deposit was showing

Just trying applying and got all through only to find an error message.
Can’t be bothered to try again - one lost customer!

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The 6.5% on offer should make it worth another try.
  • So if it’s annual interest every August, then August 2026 you will receive interest from period October 2025 - August 2026, but the rest of the interest for your 12 month term towards the back end (when most interest is accrued due to higher balance) will only be paid in August 2027? Approx 10 months after maturity?

Hanley Smart Saver - I applied not as an existing customer (closed account only) and this was successful. Lots of stuff prepopulated, immediately got email confirmation and online got account details with same username  - so no customer duplication. However no COP as yet but I was able to override and make the deposit.
Can i ask if you know, was the application reference number and the actual account number the same?
I have application reference number but i'm completely new customer, so no online access yet.

    They are different

You should be able to close the account into which the RS morphs at maturity and get the interest for Aug 26 to Oct 26 (I hope!)

I’d assume it would be like Virgin Money’s quarterly interest issue - you can force it to be paid earlier by closing the account once matured. But that would put it all in 2026/2027.

I applied online as existing customer. Account opened instantly, email with payment information also arrived immediately. Payment sent, though - as usual  :# - Santander can't do COP until next day, so I had to fall back yo old fashioned checking that I typed my numbers correctly.

Many thanks to the forumite who posted the application link. Much appreciated.
