Is 5.25% now considered an attractive return ?
Some will be tempted, some won't. The £500pm makes it slightly more attractive than some of the other RS's.

It depends upon accessibility, I also need to bear in mind I have access to OH's Coventry FHS still paying 5.1%. If it operates like an easy access saver (such as Lloyds monthly saver) then yes, if their are any restrictions, penalties or notice periods then no, it would need to be higher..

Yes very good points I hadn't considered. I think I need to take another look at it !
I also have the 3 year Coventry FHS @ 5.1% with a year to run, it's gonna pay around £1600 interest at year end.

Given the large number of six-percenters that have come out lately this is quite a poor offering, if indeed it is at 5.25%
For me too it may be worth a look as I have my cahoot 5.12% ending this month. Full t&cs will be the key.

Nationwide have announced a series of rate cuts for their savings accounts as of 1/2/25.

Of note is that their Flex Regular Savers Issue 2, 3 and 4 are not included so are set to remain at 8%, 6.5% and 6.5% respectively.

Thanks to @GalacticaActual for bringing that to my attention in another thread.
There won't be many savers still with a Flex Regular Savers Issue 2. Was withdrawn on 8 February 2024. I don't remember Nationwide ever changing the rate on a one year regular saver despite being variable in theory. If they want to change interest rates they usually do it by closing the current issue to new applicants and bringing out a new issue.

Curious about deposits sent to Saffron BS on 2 Jan. My payment was not credited until the 3rd due them having technical issues on the 2nd. Anyone else have the same as there is nothing to say the deposit is backdated as being received on the 2nd.

sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer, I have already got the principal Christmas saver open and running and have just opened the 8% 6 month one today.  Principality use the same sort code and account number to send the standing orders to, but just vary the reference number.

Will this cause any problems with Santander if I set the 2nd standing order from there? so will be two standing orders on 1st of each month going to the same sort code and account number but to different reference numbers.  reason I am asking is I recall a number of years back Natwest/RBS had an issue with this and wondering if any one knows if Santander work the way that Natwest/RBS does in that regard.

    It won't cause any problems.

The banks now use the reference field as part of the confirmation of payee check for many billing societies including Principality though it may take 24 hours to recognise the account
