    When you close a Lloyds regular saver vs. using the renew method. Will you still be able to open a new regular saver or will they not let you open one until the original term is over?

    not tried but probably the later. Best time to try is a few days before maturity so you don't have long to wait if it doesn't work.

    In my experience there's nothing to stop you applying for a fresh one if you haven't got one open; perhaps other than an overnight reset.

    YMMV of course.

    ~~~~~~NLA 23/4/25 ~~~~~~Melton BS Adcock Regular Saver~~~ Launched 12/3/25
    Interest rate: 6.5% gross p.a. variable
    Monthly payment: £0-£150 per calendar month
    Miss any payments: Yes, miss as many as you wish
    Penalty-free withdrawals: Unlimited
    Age of applicant: Aged 16 or over
    How to open account: Branch only (did previously allow postal applications)
    Length of account term: Matures 30/9/2027
    Maximum balance: £6,000 plus interest
    Deposits on non-working days: Treated as having been received the same day.
    Special conditions: Withdrawals can be made to your nominated account by phone or by sending a secure message in online banking.
    Impossible to reach £6,000 in the account. I'm expecting notice of interest rate cut soon after cut in bank rate if that happens. They do state these measures are to protect the long term future of the Society.
    It's nice reading nothing but positive thoughts on the future. For now I'm enjoying 6.5%, not forgetting that the RS will mature in Sept 2026.
    Whether they do decide to cut the rate could go either way. They may well decide to cut the rate shortly after a cut in the BOE base rate as you suggest, but then again following the last 3 cuts to the base rate they've left the interest rates on Issues 4, 5 and 6 of their regular saver unchanged so they may choose to do the same again.
    Regardless though if the BOE does announce another cut to the base rate I shall be making another list of regular savers that have announced cuts to the base rate.
    Thanks for the reminder.
    I'm contemplating favouring my Cov.FHS2  this month @ 4.8%.
    Are there any terms for Hanley on minimum deposit, or missing monthly deposits?
