I wonder if they realise their high-security process could simply be bypassed by a fraudster exploiting the Royal Mail redirect service?Enzo_L said:
I hate the way that the Furness show you your passbook but won't let you take it home with you when you open an account in a branch.
Mrs B and I visited a branch on Friday and both signed the dotted line on the 160 Year Anniversary RS. We were shown a passbook with our £160 cash deposits entered but for some reason we'll get our passbooks via post next week(?).
Every time it has happened to me I've objected, and have been told it is "for additional security". When I've responded that I've already shown them proof of my address and them putting the passbook in a postbox and hoping that it will be delivered to my house is clearly less secure than me taking the book home and locking it in my filing cabinet they reply that it is "policy".
It's a daft policy and I wish they'd stop doing it because it's idiotic.0 -
With everyone chomping at the bit for the Furness RS anniversary to be released online on 20th. What do more experienced forum users expect the best time for the account to go live if it does?0

I'll be checking Furness website at 9am on 20th.Bob2000 said:With everyone chomping at the bit for the Furness RS anniversary to be released online on 20th. What do more experienced forum users expect the best time for the account to go live if it does?1 -
Based on how it has gone with other RS's though, eg Monmouthshire there is of course the possibility of accidentally getting 2 of them!Stargunner said:
I posted mine to the Barrow in Furness branch (not head office) last Thursday with a cheque. The account has been opened snd appeared in the app yesterday.s71hj said:I've been a bit distracted in my attention to the thread in last couple of days. Can anyone clarify, is there any value in posting a paper application for the new Furness RS? If so, which branch, or head office? And with or without a cheque?
Probably not worth posting an application now, because the earliest that it would reach them would be Tuesday, and that is the day that they are expected to accept online applications.0 -
Furness online login now working following the updates, for anyone looking to check0

As an option to open that way, yes I know that. But for anyone that has opened it already will show up. Earlier on people were saying they'd posted one off but wanted to see if it was open.janusd said:

Am now fully caught up in the feeding frenzy that is the (possible) online release of the 160th Anniversary RS.happybagger said:

Any mileage in getting ID and access out of the way by getting their £1 min EA beforehand?0 -
Probably a daft question, but I've had regular saver accounts with Lloyds, Nationwide and Principality for a few months now.
When can I expect to start seeing some interest?0
