From other people's observations, it sounds like Furness have a limit on account numbers, and if demand via branch/post is high it may not be offered online. So yes, there may be value in sending off a paper application. Don't know the answers to your other questions.s71hj said:I've been a bit distracted in my attention to the thread in last couple of days. Can anyone clarify, is there any value in posting a paper application for the new Furness RS? If so, which branch, or head office? And with or without a cheque?2 -
Yorkshire BS Xmas Saver now available again @ 5% (£150 per month max)
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)3 -

The details of the YBS Xmas Saver on their website show no reduction in rate on 05/02.2

Yes. They would not have launched it last week at 5% if they were intending to drop the rate on 5th February.flaneurs_lobster said:The details of the YBS Xmas Saver on their website show no reduction in rate on 05/02.1 -
Tricky one to answer fully ..... but I mentioned to the staff member on 16th that the application form can be downloaded and printed, so wouldn't that mean it could be posted off? The reply was that it might not be accepted in the post as the form was supposed to be brought into the branch. Also mentioned by the branch staff, if it arrived after the allocation has been filled up, the issue would be closed and even a branch visit would be pointless!s71hj said:I've been a bit distracted in my attention to the thread in last couple of days. Its a bit ridiculous YBS launching the Christmas saver and then a few weeks later dropping the interest rate, it feels a bit dishonest.
Despite its lack lustre I have opened one - mainly as forward planning to keep loyalty status with YBS but also as a home for money that was destined to go into an ongoing Principality saver.
My YBS loyalty saver matures in May and the £50 one in September but I cant see there being good enough replacements for either.
But with 2 (or maybe even 3) bank of England interest rate drops predicated by the end of 2026 maybe any saver with an interest rate above 4% will look like good by December.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
From what I've seen I don't believe it is being reduced anyway. I'm just going off their interest rate changes sheet and the fact that affected accounts have a message telling you the rate is to be reduced but there's no such message on the pages for any of their regular savers.mhoc said:Its a bit ridiculous YBS launching the Christmas saver and then a few weeks later dropping the interest rate, it feels a bit dishonest.

Until substantiated, I think it is safe to assume the YBS claim is wrong. No new information has come to light since they set the rate, everything is running in line with previous expectations.3
