The Old Regular Savers Discussion Thread 28/12/24-29/1/26

Fear not, it won't be quiet for long. I think we're expecting Scottish Building Society to make their regular saver available for online opening, and that will probably dominate the discussion for a few pages. Principality might release a Christmas regular saver in the next couple of weeks. Or might not. Banks like HSBC and TSB whose current offerings aren't very exciting might produce something more enticing. Other newcomers like Manchester might pop up out of the blue.topyam said:Been quiet on the RS front recently. Nothing great being released...
To be honest I don't mind that it's a bit quiet at the moment, because I haven't really got the funds to add any more accounts to my collection.1 -
On the contrary, last few months RS new releases have been plentiful. I am still waiting on two cheques to clear from the latest RS releases. One advantage of a steady release of good RS`s is initial funding is slightly easier and also maturity is staggered over time releasing funds gradually for new opportunities in the future. I have been pleasantly surprised as EA interest rates slowly decline, RS interest rates are holding up well.topyam said:Been quiet on the RS front recently. Nothing great being released...
Topyam - I assume you have all the best RS`s already in your locker. Patience is a great virtue (-:0 -

Eh? We've had Manchester BS, Beverley BS, Scottish BS all launching good RSs recently. Also the 3 Monmouthshire's not that long ago. And the ongoing activity with Principality. Personally I need a breather from all the excitementtopyam said:Been quiet on the RS front recently. Nothing great being released...

Well I sent off for my postal SBS RS on the 3rd and my cheque only cleared yesterday at this rate, I would have been better off waiting for the online version.Newly_retired said:I choose the rooms that I live in with care,

I listen all night for your step on the stair.1 -

In the weeks when it does go quiet its a good opportunity to make sure the Google/Excel charts are up to date and to see what will mature in the next month or 2 to see if you have enough cash flow to supply all of the regular savers. I've also been rejigging some ISAs.topyam said:Been quiet on the RS front recently. Nothing great being released...
It does seem to come in waves - great activity and excitement and then nothing for weeks ....“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”1 -
Scottish BSJust received my SBS pack in the mail. The passbook shows 10th October for the cheque deposit. My Nationwide a/c has no indication that the cheque has been presented yet.1

Scottish BS
Sent my cheque off last Thursday, in 2nd class envelope provided. Sent them an email this morning to see if they received it. Replied that account was funded yesterday and welcome pack on route.
Cheque must not have cleared yet though as cash is still there.
