My accounts are still showing. By the look of it they are probably doing it manually so it may take time for staff to process a huge amount of illegitimate accounts. It's a lot of work. Most providers wouldn't allow you to open an account that you're not eligible for. Let them open and then weeding them out doesn't look like an efficient practice.0 -
Still no accounts open on either of our Saffron profiles, nor any messages.
We both applied for the MM Loyalty Saver on Sunday before the goalpost shifting on the R-a-F savers began.
Will give it til the end of the week.0 -
You're right. And it was the most basic security just some combination of name, address, date of birth.mon3ysav3r said:
Giving codes out to a caller does of course completely negate the entire point of the "something they have" part of a multi factor authentication!BestSeagull said:
I just called them. I don't want WhatsApp or an authenticator app. It's far from ideal but they can give you the code over the phone so even without a smartphone you can still access your online account, during business hours at least.IanManc said:
I've got a dumbphone, so no WhatsApp. I waited ten minutes for a code by SMS, then requested another, and now 15 minutes later I've received nothing.ChewyyBacca said:
I used to get a 2 min delayed SMSmon3ysav3r said:Progressive login screen reads "We have sent a 6-digit access code to you by SMS or WhatsApp. It may take five minutes for your code to arrive." but the input just says to enter "6 Digit WhatsApp Code".
It took a few minutes to arrive and I could login, wonder if it detects those without WhatsApp and falls back to SMS?
Today no SMS, no whatsapp either.
Tried ''resend code'', still waiting for code to arrive, been 15 mins now
How ****** useless.
How are they verifying that you are who you say you are, using some of the existing password or memorable information?
For what it's worth, I got the impression that they are trying really hard to do the right thing even if they seem to be out in left field with their method.
One thing that was mentioned was that there is an App in the works so perhaps this current system is temporary.0 -
Them introducing an app is not going to help those people without a smartphone.BestSeagull said:

2FA by SMS is not the most secure of the usual methods but it's better than asking for your first pet's name over the phone.
Poor that they have simply turned it off.5 -
Hanley Economic Building SocietyReceived an email detailing interest rate cuts w.e.f. 01/07/25.The one that affects me is the Online Reg Saver which drops from 4.7% to 4.4%.This was one of my best reg savers due to the high monthly pay in allowance but I have now changed my standing order from the max of 1000 to the min of 250. Might close it later this month.2

I've done the same as you. I'm not closing the account as the rate will still be decent for an easy access account.charlie12525 said:Hanley Economic Building SocietyReceived an email detailing interest rate cuts w.e.f. 01/07/25.The one that affects me is the Online Reg Saver which drops from 4.7% to 4.4%.This was one of my best reg savers due to the high monthly pay in allowance but I have now changed my standing order from the max of 1000 to the min of 250. Five withdrawals permitted annually, also if you miss 3 months deposits they can terminate the account.
I'll maybe miss out a couple of deposits and see how things stand. If rates were to increase, it could be worth retaining. An open ended reg.saver is a very useful account.0
