Thanks MFwannabe you are right, the trouble is I am so erratic that I am unsure what is correct. What I will do is log everything I spend from a £600 budget for October only and see how I go, If I need more I will judge this on what the reason is like @RedLipstick mentioned with Kakeibo, I have read about it also Martins money mantra and see if I can self improve along the way. I have bought a budgeting book to hand write so it is more meaningful when I write it down and hopefully I will learn what I can do about it. Which is the Kakeibo way. I will have an emergency fund once I get the money back from the car!

AS you would not be able to use it on a regular basis without the disabled person being present.

I am unsure on the amount I should have for an emergency fund (EF), I found that while I was out of work and had a lodger there was little else I needed, except for emergencies etc (I know it is called an EF for a reason!) If I were to save £6K I would still be entitled to Universal credit at the full amount or up to £16K to receive anything. I would love to be getting my mortgage down ultimately, however I planned an EF of £9K on the MFIT Challenge (I think that is what it is called). Also If I ever wanted a car again £9K would be a good place to be at. Therefore I will try to get to £9K before I have a go at the Mortgage, I think, I am thinking to pay the 10% off in May next year which will reduce my EF, but then I can build it up again. This is a much happier place to be I have to say. Have a super day allXX

Okay getting a little worried the funds still have not come back they said they are actioning but really why is it taking so long! Can anyone guess! Anyhow I will try and remain calm I really wish I would know what I want to buy before I buy something it is driving me potty refund queen bonanza! and with £6K on the table! I feel like it is punishment for something! Also today I could of had a No spend day, but no I bought a back scratcher for £2.99 wanted and I feel like it is needed 😂😂😂 But darn I could of had a no spend day, that really was not well thout out!

Shopping has gone from £50 every two weeks to £100 spending an extra £1300 per annum, but food really is my joy and if I enjoy my food I am happy. I have found some delightful quorn brocoli and cheese escalopes which are reduced I have two in one go as they are tiny but so delicious! However I have added more snacks and bit and bobs so hopefully I keep my food spending to just the one shop every two weeks. Therefore there may be a reduction in spending?

Really I am just anxious now that they haven't processed my refund! as it is big wonga I can't tell you how I would feel if I didn't get it back to me for some unknown reason? I will feel relief when it is here.

    Have a wonderous evening allXX

Hi Bee, I thought insurance settlements took weeks to come through. It will turn up when they possibly do a weekly/monthly payment run? I looked at our monthly spend on food for 2 pensioners. Averages £160 a month. Healthy food cooked from scratch as we have the time. Have you thought about getting back to the swimming? You seemed to enjoy that.

It's not a refund, it's a insurance settlement & it will be proccessed more slowly.
