I really feel quite like I have accomplished something doing the ceiling, sounds silly but it feels good having accomplished something with my day. I look forward to getting the next step done tomorrow which is to begin the sanding.
Plan of action for tonight:-
1) make and eat dinner
2) wash up
3) put bed linen washing away
4) cross stitch
5) rest, read and bed.
I need to wait until 14th March before cancelling DDs for council tax and mortgage, if I get a job before I could end up having enough money to pay for these, but I think to play it safe I will allow the cut off of 14th March, If still have no job then cancel them, I should get the council tax support I would hope if I still have not got a job by the end of the month.

I didn't do the sanding yesterday because I felt a little tired from the day before and generally blah, however today I feel ready to go again, so I think I hope I will do it today, I am only concentrating on one area, but I want a really good job done on it. Take all the sheen off ready for painting, but I am not painting today just sanding and only 1 area out of 6 areas.
I am hoping for another no spend day today which would make 8/19 slow progress is still progress!
It would be good to hear from one of the recruiters or companies this morning with an interview, but we will see. As I won't be able to reach any of my goals until I have that elusive job!
sometime later...
I have heard about a temp job this morning, fingers crossed!
Sometime later...
I have an interview for a different temp job tomorrow!
sometime later...
I have just done a quick calculation and it looks like I could put away £5K even with a lower pay providing I have a lodger all year round and if I get the job!Mission Number One: Get a job!

Good luck with the Interviews! Are either remote jobs? Have you thought about taking on a temp remote job in a different area to what you work in already...just as an interim job?
Good luck with the sanding..I hate that job although I've recently found out about a sander you can use with water that doesn't create all the dust you get with usual sanding methods!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Thanks @debtfreewannabe321 I have actually crazy as it sounds cancelled the interview, I just thought doing 9 months of a job that is not related to my qualifications wouldn't get me very far along. However the other temp role I was contacted about is remote and is close to what I am looking for, definetely still in the area that I am focusing on (accounts related). I know it seems a bit silly canceling a job interview when I have no job and need a boost, but also losing a job in December probably would mean being out of work for quite a while as it goes quiet around this time. And although I haven't actually got an interview for the other role, there are three roles being offered so I have a good chance of getting it. It will be only two months but when I finish hopefully the job market will pick up a bit??!! or at least I could keep looking in the evenings after the first month, hopefully something will come through for me.
I like doing the sanding by hand not because I am a masochist but because I want to get that hand finished feel, I did do a bit of this today but not as much as I could have done, but I want to tackle it little by little giving each step the best possible attention, it is not just about getting the job done quick but the process as well, taking my time over the wood and doing the job right.
I am going to stick to my guns and stick to my dreams of becoming a management accountant, therefore I need accounts related roles and this temp role will fill the gap if I should be so lucky. I have also applied for another which deviates from management accounts although there is still a finance aspect, there is more logistics and PA work involved which would also be a career to have, However I am not sure this will come my way, whereas the temp job looks more promising.

Okay I am starting to get a little worried about the job situation as I am not really getting any positive leads related to finance and perm jobs are likely to go to people who are already in work with long careers. I think potentially I need a new avenue to go towards if I don't get a job soon. But I don't know what that will be. I have seen remote sales jobs but I can't see myself as a sales rep, maybe another temp role then this could lead to perm. I am quite good at writing but all I seem to write about is myself, but that is because I am not involved with anyone else, I don't have a lot of family that I am involved with and few friends. I seem a little self involved but I am trying to repair myself, I have a diary where I empty everything into that is bothering me and it appears to be helping.
Although I have not got a career together I do have a good CV still although it is not always attractive to all recruiters and employers, okay the temp job may bear fruit yet it is the 13th March not the 13th December there is still time to recover from this mess I have made for myself. Tomorrow I think I need to do some chores not to mention get the door that I have been sanding these last two days undercoat paint on and if it dries fast potentially the two top coats. Then I will try and get the rest of the hallway organised for the rest of the week and get it together.
There is one other job I want to get done in the flat and that is the kitchen, I want it all painted white (just the walls that is!!). And another deep clean and sort. There are not many new jobs coming on the market but of course I will search again, and I have learnt to search every where as there are different jobs that turn up on every single job site, at least I would go to the big name ones - Indeed, reed, linked in, cv library, total jobs, glassdoor, google, and lastly gov jobs (which use to be universal job match).
It is getting late now so I will depart.

I haven't been feeling great mentally lately, MD said 'don't you recall you are always worse at this time of the year', she said why don't you take some Vitamin D, so I have done and I do feel better. I am also due to see psychiatrist soon too. They may recommend an increase in dose of medicine? or another drug? I do wish I could go back to an older medication I was on, but they won't let me.
Anyhow, I was supposed to be doing a digital detox today, but it didn't last very long. I am planning on doing work on the hallway today, which will get me away from the computer for a bit. I also want to do some chores, at least if not today tomorrow. Yes maybe today just focus on getting the hallway up to scratch. I have put the undercoat on the one side of the door, I also need to put two top layers on it also.
I have found and applied for two roles yesterday, it is like the two roles which I have been waiting for I think, if I can get an interview for both that would be something. It is in line with what I have done. I just need an opportunity to tell them I can do it and well. To some degree, I feel like they won't come my way, but lets remain optimistic!
I feel like to some degree I was not respected in the last role, I think this is because although I did the job well to some degree I got a lot of praise, I flipped flopped in my approach because I hadn't time to reflect. And then the worked died right down and that is when I was made redundant after the finance manager left. Now I have had time to reflect I think I have learned from the experience. And I would like another shot at it afterall I am still in touch with a customer and they said I was excellent at my job!
Anyhow...I think I will do some shopping for MD and then hallway! I better get on!

Something good this way comes...I have been thinking lately about what I could do for a living without a job, however now I have an idea for a part time job and a profession and I have started it today. I am going to become a writer, I don't know if I will be successful, but I do know that I want to give it a bash. I can be very good at writing and I can be quite creative when the time comes.
Today I have published my first story (well it is in the review stages) it is based on a true story, the purpose was to help but also to earn a living. I have read and even laughed a bit myself so I can be humourous, also I wrote several journals when going abroad and I let a colleague read it and he said he laughed through it and that it had cheered him up, when he was going through a rough patch.
Also I know of a job that will not be the dream financial role but it would pay the bills along with rent money, it is three days a week and would keep my toes dipped in the accounting profession. Also the strangest thing happened, as I was driving to MDs a very large arctic lorry crossed my path and it had the name of the company who happens to have a job for a part time finance role which would be enough for the Bills as well as rent money.
So there you have it a very productive day, I did however get snacks and therefore it is a spendy day, I am up to 9/19, I really need to get some more in now so tomorrow I am planning a No spend day, also I didn't touch the hallway at all today, so I must do that too. I may do a little tonight? Have a good evening...CrazyBeeXX

@Chieveley please welcome to my thread I go by the name CrazyBee here!
I have been tossing and turning this way and that all night because I have a predictament I could potentially go for a full time job if it comes my way which it may very well, and I can achieve all savings goal providing it is successful and I am well suited.
Or I could take up a part time job and have enough money for a small savings pot but not enough for a new car and my car is getting on a bit, my last car died at the age it is now! However I could fulfill a dream of mine and that is to become a writer and write stories that I get fully immersed in.
Now I have had a sign to take up the part time job, but I have also heard from a friend that it would be better to take up full time and write in free time. When there is a lot of work to do in work I really go above and beyond and do as much as possible, to the point where I feel a little unwell. And therefore I am unlikely to be able to write in my free time.
However with a part time job I will work three days then I will take a self care day to unwind and do the things I like, like cross stitch and reading. Then on the last day of the week I will write.
Then at the weekend I will Have one day for MD and another self care day.
But then I won't have enough cash to save for a new car or do any of the things on my wish list. I have been thinking about pacing myself at work, afterall most people pace themselves in work and only do what they can manage they don't push themselves to the brink.
I could have a self care day at the weekend, then one day to write, and then alternate some weekends take MD out but not every weekend. But my feeling is I am unikley to be able to write.
Now I am almost a published writer (Kindle story) maybe I just count that as that thing done on my wish list. I am still a bit unwell tbh and making decisions like this takes time. Perhaps I just see if I get an interview anywhere next week, as I have applied to many jobs now. Or do I pursue the PT job, I have already applied and they haven't got back to me, however I feel it would just take a friendly call to get this job!
