I slept peacefully with the lodger in last night, and he is quite polite and thoughtful. So going well on that front. The interview I had this morning was not a great success, I felt it was not going my way I felt very nervous which I don't normally also they said they had more applicants and it looks like some poeple have applied direct which does not bode well for me as I have gone through recruiter, but we will see. I have another call coming in soon about another role...fingers crossedXX.

I am on 2/19 No spend days as today I have needed to buy a laundry basket for the lodger, this cost £10.00, not the cheapest, but low to medium range.

Haha you are funny!! I guess he is, I just would rather he put dirty his washing in the new laundry basket then the clean washing baskets that I have for when you take the washing out the machine. I know in MDs house they all get confused as to what goes where - me no likey!

I have done a job search and been to MDs to take over some groceries, I am back at home and I think I will do the cross stitch.

I have picked up the laundry basket and avoided any further spends so far, next I need to take MD to the hospital, hopefully I can avoid spending again, I have been tempted for quite some time to eat lots of creme eggs, hopefully I can keep the creme egg splurge under control and win my third no spend day!

I have just got off the phone, I have an interview tomorrow for another job, it is less money but it is not as far as the other role, I would prefer the other role in all honesty, but beggars can't be choosers! I will go for the interview and see how I feel, it is a big company which does sound good and there is room for progression.

    Anyhow an early lunch first...

I didn't spend so that is something, day three of my 19 set target and I wasn't even tempted. I am pleased that I am experiencing great control in this regard. If I get a job to start on Monday I will allow myself £100 spending money for the rest of the month, I have done a quick calculation and even with a dip in wages I will be able to clear my credit card and I can start April with a clean start and the lodger seems to be good to have around, I have said I will cook him a meal on Sunday (Sunday roast) - He hasn't actually cooked here since arriving.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, I keep trying to prepare for tomorrow and I don't seem to get my head down to do it, it is up in the sky!

Nothing on the job front, but I still have lots of leads. Not a No spend today, but I am up to 5/19 No spend days so far, over the weekend I should be able to add to it. Lodger is working out okay so far. I have come along way with the birthday card cross stitch, there is only one colour left to do as well as the outline, although it is the largest section! I will post a picture when it is done.

I need a chore list as I have left the housework all week to do today, the day of rest. However I have had my fill of rest and will now do some of the chores that will not be enjoyed but I will be glad once they are all done! And in the order I will do them:-

    1) Change Bed linen and put on to wash.

    2) Put washing away.

    3) wipe around the bathroom.

    4) Clean office desk.

    5) Bins

    6) Hoover

    7) Mop -not needed

    8) Search for jobs

    9) Read

    10) Cross stitch

    11) Try and aim for a no spend day today!

Now I have completed the housework and I have completed the job search for today (did job search all weekend) I am left with the project that is my hallway, I have been debating as to whether to do this or not, and the conclusion is that I think I would like to do it. It is quite a big job because of all the connecting doors there is a lot of wood, I suppose I had better talk to my lodger about it as I will need to do his door etc.

First job already done I have prepared the first door first stage (I have cleaned it), Second stage once it is dry is to sand it and I am strongly thinking of putting an undercoat so as to prevent it going yellow again, although I am not sure if it is too late for this? Also I will need to buy this.

I am thinking that the first painting job will be the ceiling and if so I need to get paint for that also, I think I will get brilliant white matt paint. I also would like to get some delicate masking tape when I come to doing the walls and masking tape the ceiling and wood (newly painted) I will need quite a lot of this.

I Think I will pop to the local diy store and see what they have. I have just spoken to lodger and he said he would help, but persoanlly I would like to get this done by myself, besides he has enough work on his plate with his full time job! I think he only gets one day off per week.

I Think today I will wash all doors down in and out and get the paint needed to do the job, as well as sanding paper and masking tape etc etc.

    Then paint ceiling.

    I will do sanding next.

Then masking tape the walls ready to paint the wood.

    Then painting.

I am a bit worried about my ability to do everything because of my size, but I did it once I can do it again, I'll just take my time. Besides I have painted the kitchen at this size I can do more I am sure of it.

So today will not be a no spending day if I can get what I need from the local DIY store.

I have just spent a small fortune on decorating equipment etc. I was given some great advice so I felt it was wise to get eveything he suggested...which I guess for him worked out okay..but for me too, as I know what I need to do to stop the wood from yellowing, I need to sand down the sheen on the wood, then a special water based undercoat before top coat of water based paint X2. And that will mean it will stay white. I am going to do bits and pieces of it, not all at once, just manageble bits - so I don't get demotivated or rush it and make a bad job of it.

I did spend quite a bit and feel it was a little bit unwise, but it will be good to have another project besides the cross stitch. And if the place has been given a lot of TLC it will last and be even more enjoyable to live here.

I need a to do list for todays decorating segment - today I am going to prepare to paint and maybe paint the hall ceiling:-

    1) Take the hall lampshades down

    2) Take pictures and ornaments down.

    2) Feather dust the ceiling and the walls.

    3) Masking tape the lights and fire alarm

    4) Polyfill the crack check for other cracks and wait to dry and sanddown. - Not needed it is not a crack but an imperfection in the skimming of the ceiling, I am not going to be able to pay for a skim.

    5) Find painting clothes and change into them. And painting sheet to protect the floor.

    6) Paint the ceiling - I am a third of the way, but I must now prepare for call from recruiter....I have prepared for the call and I am now two thirds of the way there, I think my brush is a little bit small to do the job fast!

    7) Tidy and clean away.

Below are the pics before any work is done, I have already taken the picture I had up, down.

The picture below shows how I have cut in, this time I am hoping to get a better finish.

I have now done the ceiling, and I am ready for the next stage which will be tomorrow to do, I am still deciding, I think I want to paint all the wood before the walls, but maybe I should do the walls first. It is just the last time I did the walls first, when I used the masking tape the paint peeled off, However I now have extra sensitive masking tape so it should be okay. But I want to wait a day for the ceiling to properly dry also as I want a fine edge to the two different tones. So I think tomorrow I will sand the wood down. I think I will not do all wood in one go I will do one wall per day, i.e one door per day. That way I can really get a good finish all over and not rush it. Also I want to do back and front everywhere.
