You’re both correct in a way; they’re covered by different protection
Section 75 protection (which people use credit cards for) is over £100 up to £30,000
Chargeback is less than £100, you’ll also get chargeback on debit cards

This is the reason big purchases such as holidays should be purchased on a credit card; even if it’s the deposit as you’re then covered for the whole amount under section 75

Today I proved you right @MFWannabe I spent money that I hadn't earned, although I did make the decision to spend it, had I not been using the credit card I may not have spent it since it wouldn't be readily available. So you are right to raise the concern however I plan on still using it because I plan on being wise with it, or at least if it wasn't the credit card and I had the money saved I would have still done it. I made a game purchase that was highly expensive. I like the reward but I feel it was over the top expensive. I started playing this game and I cancelled it last year, but I went back and ended up doing a mission which cost £335.95, this means I won't reach my £400 target for CC, I won't be able to put £600 in EF and yes I am failing this month. However I do feel there is one main reason for my failing and that is I feel I have little spending money compared to what I am use to therefore this month I will contginue with what is planned, however I am going to do some calculations to see if I can boost my spend by adding £100, and see what effect this has to the yearly saving, it seems like a chunk to go on spending but to me it just helps to do more in the month and hopefully save something. I have recalculated the figures for this month and I look set (Providing them refund comes in) to save £360. I know the mission for the year is supposed to be challenging but I worry if I make it to difficult I will just give up and do what I have done. However another thing I was thinking of helping to change the status quo, is to get out this cross stitch kit I have been keeping aside, it is a very intricate and challenging cross stitch, but I think once I get into it I will enjoy it and thus no need to play silly games.

I am planning to wind down the game again, and I would only consider playing it once a year if I choose to play it again. I may leave it next time, I did well to leave it so long, but I didn't want to close it permenantly because I have earned reward that are interactive and I enjoy, at the same time it is a liability and I end up spending way more then a normal amount, a normal amount would be £20 if that £335.95 is a tad if not ridiculously expensive. Anyhow I am drawing a line under it, from this point forward I am going to really align myself with my goals and turn this spend around and get the results I want going forward. I have done it once I can do it again.

It is too expensive @debtfreewannabe321 it is called (Taonga island) below is a snap of the rewards I earned, The panda I was rewarded that when I was last on there and the reason I couldn't just close it all down, then the bird is what I was rewarded with today, they are interactive and move about.

Today I have been thinking about it and I think when I close it down for the second time I may just not go back at all, it is ridiculously expensive, I do enjoy the experience but it is just too costly, I feel stupid for allowing myself to do it. I don't feel like I have any spending money to do anything so I go a bit crazy and just do something that is ridiculous, that is my excuse, I want to get back on the saving train - I may need a new car soon, and this spend would have been better put towards that. I guess although it seems like I have a lot of money, by what I earn etc. I feel very poor to what I did growing up. I was able to save when I was at home and spend whatever I wanted within reason, I even went on a dream holiday to Italy. I am knowwhere near doing that now, and I still feel a little sore about it. It feels like I am about to save for a new car, which could take three years and then I wouldn't have had a holiday and I don't really have a life. I feel very sorry for myself writing this. Also I am so very big in size that I wouldn't enjoy a holiday like I did back then anyhow even if I did have the money.

I was very happy when I was succeeding at my missions, so the trick is to get back to that, I have £29.43 spending money to last until February the 19th, I know I want to treat MD to cake and drink when we next go out that will be £15.00, that leaves £14.43 for Cod and Chips, which I will get on Friday 14th February to console myself. As I have no life partner and I probably never will have, I keep imagining that someone will come into my life and make it all good. But quite honestly I thought it was good when I was succeeding at my missions, so I have drawn a line in the sand and from this point forward I am getting back on track, that is my promise. And I am going to harvest all my fruits and feed all my animals then I am shutting down the game and I will start my cross stitch exercise in the spirit that I do something different with my free time.

    Oh Crazybee 🙄😕
I would go back and read your first page of this diary and remind yourself what was important and still should be now
Playing ridiculously expensive games is not the way too go, you don’t get any real ‘rewards’ out of these.
You’d have gained more of a reward if you’d purchased your flooring or put it into savings etc.
Your current position is for 6 months and then you could or could not be in the same position as you were in December again
Past is the past, you have to live in the here and now

I would strongly suggest you stop using the credit card and sit and write yourself a proper budget
Also I would think about what activities you could do for free or for little cost

    Good Luck x

Pay has been and gone and it was great…however a negative spirit means that I have now spent £335.95 of my money before it is earnt of Februarys pay cheque on a game. I need to draw a line under it and get back to those positive ways that lead to a great first month. I need February to be in +ve bank balance, now that amount will only be £320. But there will be days where things are not going to pan out as hoped, but I pretty much ruined the month on the very first day of the month no less. I only have 17 days to go until the credit card rolls over. Which is just over two weeks, this means if I keep my eyes on the prize I could still be in the +ve by the end of the month and it won’t have been a complete wreck. The month can still be a win if the refund comes back and I don’t spend any more, it is not long to go really, then I can concentrate on making March better. I say to myself - Please don’t think it is all, please think that you made a bit of a hash of it, but that you can still have a positive outcome for the month. £320 is still something!

Okay so my missions for the day are 1) get groceries for MD and SFD and spend a bit of time with them. 2) get the chores completed and 3) start the cross stitch and 4) Read a little.

The chores that I need to do are:-

    1) Change bed linen

    2) put washing away.

    3) wash up.

    4) Sweep problem areas

That is all I am asking of myself today.

I am going to try and do a charge back on my credit card for the game as I think it is a bit of scam they said I could try it (the credit card company), I know I had free will but I felt compelled to carry on and I feel I have been let down by the company because I explained this to them and they said they wouldn't offer any money back even though I offered the reward back, so I may have a case, because I don't have anything to show for the money also I should be able to change my mind. It probably won't be successful but I am going to try and do this for myself.

Today I still feel the gravity of what I did yesterday and has been a loss of a weekend, I am not happy that my plan is out the window for the month not the year, I must remember, I know I have a choice but it is rather like the gambling sites I fear, where you sort of lose control. I don't know whether it will hold but I can try. I am afriad my mum said I am the sort that they are after, what she would like to say about me like weak willed or something I am not sure. But I feel it is unfair to some degree - it shouldn't cost that much.

Hi, I think you are right to draw a line under it, you did it and learned it’s not the way you want to spend your money in the future.
i think having too tight a reign on a budget and not allowing yourself some nice things may lead to these behaviours.
could you have a little saving account for treats?
It’s worth trying to get the money back as you never get if you don’t ask.
i wonder what was going on for you when you chose to spend that much on a game, what does playing the game give you?
i think the cross stitch sounds an excellent way to keep busy, could you go for a walk? Increase your activity, I find exercise and fresh air really good at lifting my spirits and energy levels.
I think life is so tough and there are so many temptations out there.
i personally would delete the game and not go back , keep it your money rather than theirs, I think they are thieving so and so’s.
    good luck

Thanks @V3cash When I go for a walk locally I can feel the pollution in my mouth, so I prefer not to, before moving here I am use to open country fields and there is a difference in the air quality. But Thanks for the suggestion. I will force myself to start the cross stitch next weekend now! I know I will enjoy it as soon as I start it, it is just the starting it is the problem!! I am thinking of getting another desk, not now, but once I have saved some funds in my EF, I could do with a desk just for hobbies, I have a desk for the office/ computer, a table for work station and now I need another desk and there is room so I can do the cross stitch from (and maybe other arts and crafts), I will check second hand, my last was second hand and is the best desk I have ever had i'll add!!

Today I have added a no spend day making it 2/19, I have a bit of a way to go, hey ho. I have booked my car for some work so portentially I won't have a full budgeted amount go in next month either, but I need to get this work done it will make all the difference to the car, I am actually glad I called them I have been a little worried about it, turns out there may not be anything to worry about, but I think the work needs doing still, I was worried when the last mechanic said I needed to get whole new spark plugs, I thought oh god how much is this gonna cost - turns out it is 90 odd quid, so not the end of the world.

Also I have had a note from the company about the refund they say they have processed it, I can tell you that was a relief, as I recently read lots of bad reviews on the company website. MD hasn't tried out her blender yet, tbh I am still a little worried.

I have just discovered that my account has now been disabled on Taonga as requested, so unless I go to extreme lengths I can't play anymore, which I am happy about. The Saga is almost over, just the Chargebacks to complete next, if this is possible?

I am just checking where I am in relation to my goals.

    I am 2/19 for 19 no spends out of a possible 3/28.

Credit card is blown unless I can get a successfull charge back...I will try tomorrow for this, it could take a few days to sort, it is not likely to happen.

OP was done last month and looks good for this month.

We are 10% of the way through the month roughly speaking however I am 14% towards my prolific goal so that is something. £7.12/£52.64. (this is the cashout value, there is more pending another £9.48).

EF unless I can get the chargeback sorted, it does not look likely it looks more like £300.
    1. 19 No spend days
    2. Keep Credit Card at £400
    3. OP £205
    4. £Prolific earn £52.64
    5. EF put in £600.
