Tonights brainwave is to move out of the small room back into the bigger for two fold reasons, 1 I like the bed and 2 I feel the market would jump for a room for £500 especially the way it has been done, I think someone will be pleased to have it. I do have interest in the bigger room, however the lady is a carer so I would imagine she would be pleased with a drop in price knowing that carers don't get the best of deals, although I hear things have improved. At least she would have more money left over to save. I do like the smaller room but I would rather have a different mattress, not that it is bad but with my weight it is not best, the last chap said he was pleased with it so I think it is just me also it is not very old less then a year. £500 is not a great deal different from £600 and with a job I will be laughing! I can always move back again should the room become vacant again and I can afford a better mattress, I never know where I am going to sleep from one minute to the next! It is quite fun!

So there is loads for me to do, although I did reduce my belongings somewhat last time not to mention there is a new to me cupboard with some stuff in the living room, it really shouldn't take too long, I am looking forward to doing the pictures for the ad, also I may place things differently to position better to avoid sharp bang on the edges of the cupboard, which I have hit once at least since being there!

    I am procrastinating.....!

Was it last year you were enjoying swimming? Give that a go for a change of scenery? I get cabin fever so I try and leave the house every day.

Just remember that running a car can be very expensive, we spend c. £190/mth running ours and it's just a wee Dacia. Also, that doesn't include cost of the car itself 😱

Perhaps not a great idea to be taking on any financial commitments until you're back in the workforce and have had time to settle into your new job? 🙂 Are there any car clubs or similar near you? Might be a way to access the value of a car without a big financial outlay or relying on family to borrow theirs?

You've forgotten insurance and potentially breakdown cover if you use it? 🤔

Fingers crossed for the lodger. If she is softly spoken she (may) be fairly introverted. Speaking as an introvert, it could be helpful to follow her lead as regards chatting, socialising and generally seeing how you fit together as a household (I remember you saying you sometimes talk a lot in certain situations)? I also like a natter, but I like it even more if I've had a chance to "find my feet" with a new relationship (whether personal or work) before I start gabbing :)

Great news about the lodger, also remember she is your lodger and not your bestie ! If she’s quiet then she might want to keep herself to herself.  It’s just a business transaction.

    Fingers crossed about the jobs

Yes, best advice is that having a lodger is first and foremost a business transaction. It may lead to a friendship but it most likely won’t.

I am not going to lie and say that I have never purchased (for example) a wee chunk of a beaten down share and sold it the next day. I am prone to a wee gamble from time to time. I have a job and spare money, you have no job and no lodger. Sorry if that comes across as obnoxious, the point is you can't afford to gamble in your situation! :p

If you are truthful, do you perhaps identify the decision to buy this share as being something that you've done compulsively to a degree, as opposed to an example of sound financial planning? :)

Please excuse the snark, it comes from a good place.

Fingers crossed for you :) Best get the windows opened, too, the smell of cannabis can be quite unpleasant if you dislike it! We used to have a downstairs neighbour who smoked skunk when we rented, it made going to the bathroom thoroughly unpleasant! :#

Edit: because we could smell it in the bathroom  :D
